LANDFALL | TAVIMBI | FEBRUARY MINGLE LOG
Characters: ALL!
Date: January 27th to ???
Location: City of Hatal, Tavimbi
Situation: After anchoring Tu Vishan to the coastline of Tavimbi, the city of Hatal welcomes kedan and Foreigners alike.
Warnings/Rating: Add warnings as needed.

( click for full size )
The southern port city of Hatal is used to getting its fair share of visitors, so after the initial surprise of having a continent-sized turtle washing ashore and parking there like it's going to be a while, the Tavimbians recover with admirable poise and begin processing the new arrivals through their customs procedure. After providing a basic summary of their informátion (age, species, duration of tenure on Tu Vishan, and list of "potentially disruptive abilities") they'll be issued a pass stamp, which they must keep on their person while in Hatal. It's made of a brassy metal, a little larger than a credit card, and inscribed with their information, their date of arrival, and whether they've had any run-ins with the laws in Tavimbi (it will be stamped accordingly by the authorities if such happens.)
Once that's all taken care of, visitors will be welcomed to Hatal!
OOC: There are starters in the comments for various areas of Hatal, or you can use the rest of the post for anything on Tavimbi which doesn't fit under those headings.

Simon Tam | Open
Every now and then, a promoter would approach him to try and fight, but he would politely yet flatly refuse.
"What use am I to fix people if I get injured?" he'd reason.

He comes out of his most recent fight (a loss) a little worse for the wear. He's got quite a collection of cuts and abrasions, and his nose is bleeding. Nevertheless, he looks upbeat. It was a good match, and he has no hard feelings for his opponent.
he exits the ring - and smiles when he sees River's doctor brother standing on the sidelines, hovering over what can only be a first aid kit.
"So, you thinking of doing some fighting?" This is obviously a joke. The only way Simon could possibly look less prepared and enthusiastic for armed violence would be if he were wearing big pink glasses and a tie-dye 'make love not war' t-shirt. "You're pretty nicely dressed for gladiatorial combat."
no subject
"I only wear this outfit into the ring when I want to throw my opponents off guard," he replied. "They never take me seriously this way."

Tony flops down onto the bench beside Simon. "I think I'm done for the day. Want me to tag you in?"

When Simon leans over and starts to do the Doctor Thing, Tony says, "Don't worry about it. I'm fine." And, indeed, the cuts and scrapes have already clotted up, and though the nosebleed was initially spectacular, it also seems to have stopped. "It'll all be gone in a day or two."

"Have you got some alcohol wipes or tissues or something?" He doesn't really need medical attention, but something to wipe the blood off his face would be nice.

Like the people who'd experimented on River, for instance.

"And yet, you were able to make a full recovery," he mused. "Pepper mentioned that she's suffered severe injuries and come back from them before like it was nothing, too. It's incredible to think about, but... it could easily be used for harm, too."
no subject
And thinking his father was dead, finding out he was actually alive, then dying before being able to see him again would have been, like, Greek tragedy levels of ironic. Dying before his 18th birthday would also have sucked a lot.
Tony shrugs. "It was worth the risk. But it's good no more of it has gotten out. It's still too unpredictable." When your treatment has even odds of curing patients or turning them into evil unstoppable electricity monsters, your treatment is not ready for human trials.
no subject
"So you had no choice but to take it... it's true, though. Things that go into or on the human body normally need months and months of testing before it's determined to be safe. I hope you have never had any ill effects from it."
no subject
necromancerspeople Tony can't imagine befriending. She does tend to make snap judgements about people - but when that snap judgement is positive, you couldn't ask for a more true and devoted friend."I think she knows River better than I do; I've only talked to her a few times. She's... nice." And weird. Super weird. But hey, Tony is a cyborg whose friends include someone who's part lizard alien, and a man made of lasers - and that's just people from his own universe. He's not one to judge.
Tony's really getting a kick out of SImon's continued interest in Extremis - probably because it's satisfying to have someone from the far future be so impressed by technology from Ye Olden Times. "I've never had any problems with Extremis, except when Malicant tried to hack it. Other than that, it's been great."
no subject
Simon then shuddered inwardly at the idea of nanites being hacked. That was a reason he'd be wary of such technology- he didn't have the computer knowhow to help a patient in that state.
"I hope being hacked didn't hurt you."

But the remark about him being of use...
"Synergy. The creation of a whole that is greater than the simple sum of its parts. From the Greek synergos, meaning 'working together'. You're not just Doctor Tam."
no subject
"That's true... but being Dr. Tam is what I do best. I mean... could you see me going out and fighting someone?"
no subject
She laughed a little at his question. "You don't fight," she said. "You fix people, not break them."
no subject
He nodded.
"And I would get plenty broken myself if I tried to fight." Like the time the team had tried to rescue Mal from Niska, and Simon had completely failed to shoot anything but the walls. "Best to keep myself as hale and hearty as possible."
no subject
"I'd fight for you," she said, leaning her head on his shoulder.
no subject
"I know you would," he murmured. "And you'd do it very well. But hopefully you will not need to."
omg I just realized... do they know they're from different canon points??
no subject
"I'm not sure what I would need here," he confessed. "Aside from medical supplies, and we seem to be fairly well-stocked with those. Unless, of course, you can find Kaylee somewhere in there," he added with a sly wink.
