( click for full size )

The southern port city of Hatal is used to getting its fair share of visitors, so after the initial surprise of having a continent-sized turtle washing ashore and parking there like it's going to be a while, the Tavimbians recover with admirable poise and begin processing the new arrivals through their customs procedure. After providing a basic summary of their informátion (age, species, duration of tenure on Tu Vishan, and list of "potentially disruptive abilities") they'll be issued a pass stamp, which they must keep on their person while in Hatal. It's made of a brassy metal, a little larger than a credit card, and inscribed with their information, their date of arrival, and whether they've had any run-ins with the laws in Tavimbi (it will be stamped accordingly by the authorities if such happens.)

Once that's all taken care of, visitors will be welcomed to Hatal!

OOC: There are starters in the comments for various areas of Hatal, or you can use the rest of the post for anything on Tavimbi which doesn't fit under those headings.

Tony grins. "Not take you seriously? Wow. That's nuts." A twiggy guy with styled hair and a poncy suit? Can't IMAGINE why no one would take that seriously.

Tony flops down onto the bench beside Simon. "I think I'm done for the day. Want me to tag you in?"
pompous_today: (:D)

[personal profile] pompous_today 2016-02-13 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"You wouldn't believe it, but it does happen." He then laughed and shook his head as he bent to examine the young man. "I think I will pass. What sort of trouble did you get into?"
highprofilerichkid: (what a dork)

[personal profile] highprofilerichkid 2016-02-14 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Less trouble than I usually get into," Tony cheerfully replies. "Plus this kind pays better."

When Simon leans over and starts to do the Doctor Thing, Tony says, "Don't worry about it. I'm fine." And, indeed, the cuts and scrapes have already clotted up, and though the nosebleed was initially spectacular, it also seems to have stopped. "It'll all be gone in a day or two."
pompous_today: (zuh?)

[personal profile] pompous_today 2016-02-15 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
"Whatever suits you, I suppose," Simon said, and then his brow furrowed. It did indeed seem as though the injuries were healing before his eyes- much faster than they should have naturally. "Is that those handy nanites?" he asked, fascinated.
highprofilerichkid: (do tell)

[personal profile] highprofilerichkid 2016-02-15 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yep." They sure are handy, aren't they, Simon? "I heal about... five, six times faster than normal? The full dose makes it practically instant, but the full dose also makes you completely crazy and evil, so..." Shrug.

"Have you got some alcohol wipes or tissues or something?" He doesn't really need medical attention, but something to wipe the blood off his face would be nice.
pompous_today: (thinking)

[personal profile] pompous_today 2016-02-16 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ah- yes, sure," Simon said, digging in his bag and handing Tony a packet of wipes. "Part of me wishes I could have access to such technology. Of course, if the full dose is dangerous, it could be disastrous in the wrong hands."

Like the people who'd experimented on River, for instance.
highprofilerichkid: (do tell)

[personal profile] highprofilerichkid 2016-02-18 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
"Thanks." Tony takes the wipes and starts cleaning his face up. "It's definitely possible to stabilize it, I just haven't figured it out yet. The last guy who got the full dose killed a bunch of SHIELD agents and fried my heart through my armor. I almost died." So, average Tuesday. "There's no way I'd want anyone worse than Nick Fury getting their hands on it," Tony agrees.
pompous_today: (hmm)

[personal profile] pompous_today 2016-02-19 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Simon let out a low whistle at that.

"And yet, you were able to make a full recovery," he mused. "Pepper mentioned that she's suffered severe injuries and come back from them before like it was nothing, too. It's incredible to think about, but... it could easily be used for harm, too."
highprofilerichkid: (r u thinkin wat im thinkin)

[personal profile] highprofilerichkid 2016-02-19 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
"Pepper doesn't have any help, she's just badass," Tony says, laughing. "I wouldn't have survived that without Extremis. That's actually why I took it - Mallen damaged my heart badly enough that I could never have used the armor again. And even if I didn't, I probably only had a few months."

And thinking his father was dead, finding out he was actually alive, then dying before being able to see him again would have been, like, Greek tragedy levels of ironic. Dying before his 18th birthday would also have sucked a lot.

Tony shrugs. "It was worth the risk. But it's good no more of it has gotten out. It's still too unpredictable." When your treatment has even odds of curing patients or turning them into evil unstoppable electricity monsters, your treatment is not ready for human trials.

[personal profile] pompous_today 2016-02-26 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
"That she is," Simon laughed. "Or I have gotten that impression of her, anyway. She is a very sweet young lady, too- I'm glad my sister has befriended people like the two of you." Simon then nodded slowly, still very interested in this technology.

"So you had no choice but to take it... it's true, though. Things that go into or on the human body normally need months and months of testing before it's determined to be safe. I hope you have never had any ill effects from it."
highprofilerichkid: (how can you resist that smile)

[personal profile] highprofilerichkid 2016-03-04 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
Tony smiles fondly. "Pepper makes friends with just about everybody." Even some necromancers people Tony can't imagine befriending. She does tend to make snap judgements about people - but when that snap judgement is positive, you couldn't ask for a more true and devoted friend.

"I think she knows River better than I do; I've only talked to her a few times. She's... nice." And weird. Super weird. But hey, Tony is a cyborg whose friends include someone who's part lizard alien, and a man made of lasers - and that's just people from his own universe. He's not one to judge.

Tony's really getting a kick out of SImon's continued interest in Extremis - probably because it's satisfying to have someone from the far future be so impressed by technology from Ye Olden Times. "I've never had any problems with Extremis, except when Malicant tried to hack it. Other than that, it's been great."
pompous_today: (mind wandering)

[personal profile] pompous_today 2016-03-04 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
"I have gotten that impression, too," Simon agreed. "She was very helpful when I first arrived. Many people were." He then nodded slowly. "River can be... hard to follow sometimes, but she likes to meet new people. And to learn. A place like this is good for her."

Simon then shuddered inwardly at the idea of nanites being hacked. That was a reason he'd be wary of such technology- he didn't have the computer knowhow to help a patient in that state.

"I hope being hacked didn't hurt you."
highprofilerichkid: (how can you resist that smile)

[personal profile] highprofilerichkid 2016-03-04 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
"This place has been good for a lot of people. It's weird, liking some random universe better than your own - but I think some of the foreigners needed a fresh start." Tony's not one of them, but he's seen it. There's no denying that Keeliai has treated Gene better than home ever did.

"Oh, it did." He almost died. But he's almost died a lot of times, so why get worked up about it? "I was out of it for about a week. I'm fine now, though. And I put in heavier encryption and added more psychic shielding to my armor."
pompous_today: (okay! crime!)

[personal profile] pompous_today 2016-03-06 11:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"Mmmm," he agreed. "I guess not everybody comes from ideal conditions. So it is nice to have another chance... and experience new things in the meantime, either way."

He then tilted his head curiously.

"Psychic protections?"
highprofilerichkid: (smiling dweeb)

[personal profile] highprofilerichkid 2016-03-07 05:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Sure. That's not the first time something's tried to get inside my head." Or even the second. Or the third. It happens pretty regularly, actually.

"I've upgraded the shielding a few different ways. Randomly oscillating neural frequencies, that kind of thing. But that was the first time anyone got in through Extremis directly, so Aya - she's an organic AI, if you haven't met her yet - helped me encrypt my brain." He chuckles. "That was pretty weird."
pompous_today: (hmm)

[personal profile] pompous_today 2016-03-08 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"That sounds quite handy," Simon commented, his eyes growing distant for a moment as he remembered looking at the scan of River's broken brain they opened up her skull and they cut into her brain. "Psychic powers are very uncommon where I come from. Almost unheard of, in fact."
highprofilerichkid: (this is my resting face)

[personal profile] highprofilerichkid 2016-03-09 08:25 am (UTC)(link)
"You're lucky," Tony says, not picking up on Simon's sudden but subtle shift in demeanor. "You don't see it a lot where I'm from, either, but I haven't met a lot of people who used it for good." He sighs and shrugs. "It would be handier if bad guys didn't keep coming up with new kinds of psychic attacks. Every time I upgrade the shielding, someone comes up with something that I've never seen before."
pompous_today: (thinking)

[personal profile] pompous_today 2016-03-14 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
"Rather like writing new computer viruses to combat new layers of protection," Simon agreed. "Or a disease becoming resistant to a drug. Just as we adapt, so must the people and things fighting against us. It would be great if those abilities could be used for good, but I suppose human nature doesn't change much."
highprofilerichkid: (ooooo..... kaaaayyyy.............)

[personal profile] highprofilerichkid 2016-03-23 07:32 am (UTC)(link)
"Pretty much. But nobody's permanently scrambled my brains yet, so I'm still winning." That's... not really how that works, Tony.

"At least it means the technology keeps advancing," he says, trying to look on the bright side. "I've made lots of breakthroughs trying to keep up with the bad guys. And once the criminals are locked up - the technology's still around."
pompous_today: (shy)

[personal profile] pompous_today 2016-03-23 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Simon grinned.

"That is one way to look at it, yes. And I'm glad it is still around, so that it may be of benefit to people down the road. That is all I want as a doctor- for people to be healthy and to have the tools to help them."
highprofilerichkid: (nyeeheheheeheheeehee)

[personal profile] highprofilerichkid 2016-04-01 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
Tony grins back. "Hey, good for you. I think my normal doctor just wants to be the next Frankenstein." Yinsen is... An interesting guy.
pompous_today: (wtf are you on)

[personal profile] pompous_today 2016-04-04 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
Simon furrowed his eyebrows, the reference going a little over his head.

"As in... someone who only wants to experiment?"
highprofilerichkid: (smiling dweeb)

[personal profile] highprofilerichkid 2016-04-04 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, is that reference expired? Huh. I figured that one would stick around." It made it two hundred years, but maybe seven hundred was a bit of a stretch.

"Kind of. How about that saying, 'don't ask why, ask why not'? Have you heard that one? Yinsen's the kind of guy who would say that. And then you'd give him a whole bunch of really good reasons why not, and he'd do it anyway. He's basically a mad scientist. And that's coming from me."
pompous_today: (erf)

[personal profile] pompous_today 2016-04-07 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
He grinned.

"Admittedly, there is only so much classic literature one can digest in a lifetime," he replied. "And we have 500 years more of it." He then grimaced. "Ah- one who experiments for the thrill of it, and not for the advancement of knowledge or for anybody else's benefit?"
highprofilerichkid: (r u thinkin wat im thinkin)

[personal profile] highprofilerichkid 2016-04-14 08:45 am (UTC)(link)
"That makes him sound sort of evil, but basically, yeah. He saved my life when no one else could have, but, bedside manner? Not the greatest. It's kinda weird being someone's patient and their experiment."
