Situation: Having been moored at Ioa Elanag for over a month, the Foreigners seem no closer to deciphering the mysteries of the empty village. But that doesn't mean there aren't still strange things happening...

Around midmonth, the Foreigners will be contacted once again by a vision of Tu Vishan, in the same appearance of a young man they saw back in October when he informed them they were needing to make landfall. Although he seems healthy and rested enough, his image also seems very distracted, even going so far as to trail off mid-sentence while relaying his new message.

"I wanted to let you know that I'm feeling much better with the bit of rest. There is something coming, however, a... storm. Do you also feel it? I will ride it out here, and leave when it's over."

Unlike the previous times when they've received visions from Asti, however, this one will not end with the calm and peaceful sensation of his departure. Instead, it will be abrupt and jolting, like they've just received a sharp electrical shock. Some people may even wake up to discover a persistent nosebleed.

THE COMPOUND

While there's no change to the compound's buildings itself, there does appear to be a new problem with the 50-foot tall stockade wall that surrounds the outer perimeter. Some of the enormous logs that make up the structure are beginning to rot at an alarming rate, especially considering the relatively dry climate. They also show evidence of a moss or fungus emerging from inside the wood itself.

Oddly, the longhouse buildings inside the compound show not a trace of this rot or growth, even though both the stockade wall and the longhouses are built out of the same lumber.

1. OPEN
Penny isn't necessarily an explorer by nature, but he has a history of scavenging and isn't about to let some creepy, mystery city pass him by. When he finally finds the compound, he wanders around it, moving in and out of the various longhouses, looking on shelves and in cupboards, lifting bed-like wood frames and shifting heavier pieces to peer behind. While it isn't exactly surprising to find nothing of much value there, and he hesitates to take basic furniture from someone who might need it since no one's watching, he's none the less disappointed.

He later moves on to the other shops, library, and so on, searching with the same diligence across multiple days. Feel free to run into him at any time exploring the compound.


2. OPEN
Penny was worried about the changes to the wall around the place. Although he hadn't been here exploring for nearly as long as many others had, he'd heard rumors of its original appearance and could notice, even from his first visit to now, that the logs were unnatural in their decay. He begin studying what he could, both with magic and what science he knew, trying to uncover what spell might be behind it.

When his own knowledge seemed insufficient, he sought out someone he was told might be able to help in his studies.

Penny enters a shop to find a large- thing.

The Stalk turns as he enters, a pale, frail feminine upper body, unclothed but for a few wild strands of blonde hair that fall down her shoulders, no arms. Four pairs of pupil-free red eyes. From underneath her voluminous black skirt, a pair of long spindly arms are reaching on top of a bookcase, seeking more clues.

Her mind is human enough, to the point that Penny's mind reading picks up the fact that a hidden arm under her skirt is pointing a gun at him. She had no intention of someone getting the drop on her again.

"Hi, there."

Penny had seen a lot of weird shit in his days, but he was pretty sure that this ranked up near the top of the list. He registers her as female, thanks mostly to her chest, and has a brief consideration for how sex would work with the abdomen of some creature before it occurs to him that he has absolutely no interest in finding out.

"The hell are you?" No sense in beating around the bush. Although he generally avoids reaching out to others' minds, he does make an effort here, at least to make sure the thing is sentient and human enough to communicate with. Its simple greeting isn't enough to guarantee that, though the weapon its- she's pointing at him suggests as much.

He holds up his hands in a feigned gesture of innocence for about a second before he's smiling and dropping them to his sides again, instead pointing over his shoulder towards the door with nonchalance. "If this place is taken, I can try another building. Doesn't matter to me."

Oh dear, another four-limb that finds her scary, so surprising.

"Busy," she replies, purposefully ignoring the spirit of the question.

Still, this wasn't gonna get better if she didn't extend some kind of olive branch. She'd rather not spend the rest of her stay here hiding in shadows.

"...but it's not like I'm squatting here. Feel free to look around, I'm looking for more spooky junk."

Penny has no reason not to accept her invitation. He turns and begins casually searching through things, reaching out to her mind to try to make sure she's not going to shoot him. Worst case, he's pretty sure he can teleport away, even if he's not one hundred percent confident about where he'd end up.

"You find anything good so far?" Penny's not really scared so much as surprised. It's mostly the lack of arms on her torso that he finds disconcerting, but not looking at her helps with that.
