And yet he was.
So most of the week had been spent trailing around behind Pepper or Tony, watching them work from beneath the quilt he wore over his shoulders and around his head like a kitschy bearskin drape and feeling like he had the pneumonia from hell. Yet when the coughing had started, it was almost impossible to stubbornly ignore like the other symptoms because he couldn't get it to stop. It would drag on and on for long minutes, triggering his body to need to breathe even though logically he knew he shouldn't need to -- he couldn't turn it off like he normally could and the more he fought it, the more the magic which simulated his functions of life tried to redouble its efforts. If it hadn't left him gasping all the time, he might actually have laughed at the irony.
Finally it had gotten so bad that he'd forgone his discomfort with the idea and let the Wind carry him (aptly, since he could barely remain upright over enough to fly himself) to EA-3B, knocking on the door before pushing it open anyway, using the frame of the door to brace himself against, already coughing again. ]

Damn it.
( a curse, because she's become so used to having whatever she needs at her fingertips that this 'power' dampening is getting on her nerves. but leo was as good as his word, and she has some things available to her. )
Jack?

H-Hey... Doctor Natu...
no subject
Can you make it in alright?
( she's still by his side, offering a chance for as much support as a tiny neurosurgeon can physically offer. get him in and sitting at the very least before she finds that damned stethoscope... )
no subject
Sorry to... drop in unannounced...
[ He slowly climbs onto the edge of one of the exam tables, leaning his staff against the wall nearby. Purple-grey bruising pattern his fingers and the backs of his hands, presumably running all over his body and down to bare feet which don't touch the ground from his seat. ]

( she's not going to let it stop her. once she's made sure he's sitting and giving him a once over - the bruising strikes her as curious and disconcerting at the same time - she's off again, digging through the drawers of her clinic for the right equipment. )
I suspected that there may come a time where I could not rely on my ring completely.
( she returns with a stethoscope in her hands and gives him a short nod. )
May I?
( soranik knows she doesn't need to ask further permission, but it's jack and she... assumes that sort of thing should be required with him. past history and all. )
no subject
Yeah... go ahead.
no subject
( she lifts the front of his shirt, eyes narrowing at the obvious bruising before pressing the stethoscope to his chest. and while she's not certain if jack can even feel cold from what she knows of him, she figures it's best to warn him when he's in this condition. )
And I am going to need you to take a few deep breaths.
( or as best as he can. )
no subject
O-Okay. I'll try.
[ He does and though he draws in breath, it doesn't seem to inflate the lungs properly, almost as though the air were disappearing somewhere between his windpipe and the lungs. So instead of hearing breath sounds through the stethoscope, Sora will here a peculiar bubbling noise, followed almost immediately by a crackling. The pattern repeats five or six times, the two noises following each other -- though his chest never actually moves against her touch -- until he tries too hard and something seems to catch, doubling him over with another fit of gasping coughs. ]
Backdated to June 14th, day after their first conversation
Prim and proper and polite as always, Dååhd made his way to the clinic, gave the door a confident knock and then he waited. ]

Hello Dååhd. Come in, please.
( she's wearing her green lantern uniform - too used to it to change out of it even when she knows it's not required of her. the clinic, however, is clean and well organized - devoid of most medical equipment except for one cobbled together x-ray machine in the corner. it's one of the things she insisted on leo making for her - something she wanted to have on hand if she couldn't use her ring. )

Thank you. It's very kind of you to sacrifice your time like this. I'm sure you must be very busy.

( she gestures to a seat for him to take if he wants, moving behind her desk but not sitting just yet. there's a moment of silence as she debates on what to start with. )
It would be best, I think, to start with the changes in basic medicine. Unless you had any objections or wished to learn more about a specific area.

There are two ways to establish how much we need to cover. I can provide a simulation of a medical injury and you may interact with it as you would a real human, or, if you are able, inform me of the latest developments in the field.
( that way she'd be able to gauge where he was at in terms of her own knowledge of Korugaran medical history. it wasn't perfect, but she'd find a way to adapt. )
