06/15 WA-1C; Closed to Dinah Lance
He knocked on her door after a moment spent ruminating if he should keep the mask on. While he relied on it to alienate others from him and had even made wearing it simply habitual, he did want to form some level of cooperation with this woman. Ultimately, however, he left it on. There was more than enough foreigners more eccentric than him for it to be a problem. ]

[Dinah calls out the name not to be paranoid it might be someone else, but because she can't quite make it to the door right away and she wants to assure him that she's heard it. She's been moving some furniture around in her suite in order to clear a space to work out in, so it takes a second before she stops dragging on a chair and opens the door.
She doesn't mind the mask in the least - half her friends run around in masks and she acknowledges them as a valid personal choice. For herself, she's opted not to go the uniform route today, and is just dressed comfortably in clothes she can move in.]
Hi, come on in.
[A gesture leads him down into the open living area, now with chairs nestled in one half of the room.]
Can I get you something to drink?
no subject
No, but thank you. I would rather get right into it if you don't mind.
no subject
[People can be so focused when they're still masked. Dinah's used to it, but she never sees the point. So she forgoes the small talk and the drink offer.]
You want to go straight into planning or would you rather compare styles on the floor so we know what we're working with?
[Should she be sitting or fighting, is the question.]

If we became more accustomed with each other's methods first then coming up with an organised training regime would be that much more simpler. Perhaps you have the room to...?

Lessons under her roof meant that not only could she participate in it and keep an eye on him in the event of any sudden change in heart. After leading Amon up to the second level, Soranik dismissed the shields she and Kyle had erected to keep others out. )
The console is on this floor if you need to make any announcements. ( a gesture to it and the small kitchen area ) We will be happy to move all the furniture to the side to give you a clear space.

[ He hadn't worn his mask, and made a point of removing it whenever he was under their roof. There was an unspoken courtesy he had offered Kyle when last they met that he would at the very least be open with his intentions in these lessons and that certain obligations were to be met if he wanted their cooperation. While he'd taken his mask off here far more times than he had ever while in Republic City, it still never felt right. It sat wrong and he felt exposed like a raw nerve.
Even now, he felt as if Soranik was staring at him more intently then when last they met. He feigned disinterest when he droned, ]
Is there something on my face, Dr. Natu?
no subject
( It's strange to see Amon without that boundary she'd come to associate with him - but a gesture she acknowledges and respects. Not that Soranik means to study his facial features so intently, and once he mentioned it, she has the decency to break her gaze. )
Not at all. Only there are some key features of your bone structure that I feel I have seen elsewhere.

[ While the exact nature of the lantern ring technology eluded him; he knew the best way to get information was to bide his time and allow it to come out on its on. Curiosity wasn't a risk he was willing to take with them.
He was surprised to receive more than a joking response to his earlier prodding. Clearly she was just hazy on the obvious. ]
You've met my brother.
no subject
( There's a small flash of an upwards twist of her mouth before it's gone. She may not have wanted her ring at first, considered it cursed, and wished to distance herself from it as much as possible - but now? Now it was just as much a part of her as it was any other Lantern.
His brother is the obvious answer, and while she'd considered it, Soranik wasn't convinced. )
In passing, and only through the network. ( A shake of her head as she looks from her ring back to him. ) No, not that similar, unless I simply caught an unfavorable glimpse due to not meeting him in person.

--> the 17th.
He doesn't disprove of Kyle's supporting Amon, but he doesn't like it, either. Even if theoretically he... tolerates the Lantern's judgement, as a group they've rarely demonstrated the best of judgement, and old habits, as they say, die hard.
So here he is, casually dressed (for him, which involves a turtleneck and a pair of slacks) observing the proceedings. He doubts there's anything Amon could teach him he doesn't already know, but he wants to make sure any information being passed on isn't being abused, and the best way to do that is tag everyone who's attending and stalk them like a fucking creeper.]

[ Amon moved unnaturally fast when it pleased him, and was already five or so feet shy of standing next to Bruce. A commonality (unknowingly) shared between the two men was a tendency to pop up in random corners of their environment they mostly definitely weren't in before. As if they were some phantom moving in the blink of an eye with every stay movement of light reshaping the shadows on the walls. ]
no subject
[If he's surprised at the suddenness of Amon's presence, he doesn't show it. It's obliviousness, tried and true. Bruce just gives him a bright smile and the slightest wave of one hand.
But on a more intrinsic level, he's studying him. Amon is no more than a metahuman, and his abilities are not uncommon even in Gotham. The speed, the silence with which he moves, those are learned skills, things that have to be trained for and practiced ritualistically. It takes dedication, willpower, and strength, any one of which would make him a formidable enemy. The trifecta, when combined, make him dangerous.
Nothing he hasn't faced before, if necessary. But he would rather not make enemies unnecessarily.]
18/6; EA-3B
[He'd had his fill of being an ideal, of course, and so had Amon. He was still Amon, to Kyle, because he hadn't been granted permission to use the other name, even if he'd seen the other face. Kyle could be optimistic when it came to people changing, but he also wasn't stupid.]
[It's after one of the lessons that he leans against the doorframe, curiously watching people file out, and then he approaches Amon.]
How's it coming?
no subject
Not surreal enough that he didn't lose all sense of tight-wound paranoia that he found his hands gripping the stairwell landing tighter when he heard Kyle approach. You won't find enemies under this roof he repeated to himself even thought every second that ticked by was a flame trailing down a fuse that would explode a powder keg set under the closet where he kept all of his skeletons.
Would Kyle be this accommodating, this understanding, if he knew all of Amon's dirty secrets in light of the simple truths such as how he fought to keep his revolution as bloodless as possible? Only time would tell, but that did little to heal his troubled mind. ]
They're eager and apprehensive all at the same time. I have no interest in teaching all of them chi-blocking, especially those who are struggling with the basics. However I find myself admiring their progress.
[ He strummed his fingers on the railing. ]
Trouble on your end?
no subject
[But it did. The principle, he agreed with, and he could help figure out a better way to implement it.]
None. [Strange, I was expecting some.] You're doing a lot of good, a lot of them could use the instruction, especially the women. In my world they're discouraged from learning how to fight back.
june 21
Nonetheless, he never failed to report to the clinic for work and continued to stay for his chi-blocking training. He wasn't very good at it, but he certainly did not want to give up so quickly and turn down Amon's gracious offer.]

[ Amon, unaware to his assistant and something of a protégé's run in with Korra, didn't look up from his desk and mess of paper's when he heard him come in. ]
We're holding off on lessons today; I'm afraid my hands are tied with getting the kedan burn victims out back on the streets. You might need to stay late and help with out-processing.
[ Looking up, there was an incredulous look to his eyes visible even behind his mask. ]
You look pale.
no subject
It... It is nothing to worry yourself over, monsieur.
[For a moment he simply stood, shifting nervously on the balls of his feet. He took a deep breath then, looking as if he was about to say something, but then closed his mouth and averted his eyes, turning slightly away.]
I shall begin immediately.

[ Amon repeated his name, louder but not harsher, and punctured with laying a heavy hand on the desk that separated them with a dull thud. Following it was a deafening, rhythmic dirge that carried in the way Amon strummed his fingers on the hard wood of his desk.
Even the blind could pick up on Marius' incessant fidgeting better suited to schoolboys caught doing something they shouldn't, or the nervous child hiding something from a strict parent. ]
You're lying.
no subject
I... I am sorry.
[He feels guilty and a little bit silly that he had attempted to avoid the subject in the first place. But how does one go about asking, 'did you truly attempt to kill a young lady?' in an inoffensive manner?]
It's, ah... [He shifts his weight from one foot to the other as he grasps for words.] Monsieur, do you... perhaps know of a lady who goes by the name of Korra?
[Not that she had acted particularly ladylike, but.]

Still, this was like learning to use a sword all over again- new stances and movements to etch into her muscle memory, and she was glad for the distraction.]

Of course Sabriel and the others appreciated Amon biting his tongue when it came to his uncensored opinion of the situation. ]
Your form is good, but not for what you're trying to accomplish. [ He moved behind her and readjusted her arms. ] Guard your center, and elbows tucked.

Thank you. [Sabriel's smile was faint, and rather forced, but it was there nonetheless. She threw a few experimental punches, bringing her arms back to the new guard position.]
Like this?

You need to remove yourself from this swordsmen mentality; you need to be prepared to dodge, not parry.
