[No wonder her and Mari got along. But that brings a smile to her face.] That's honestly one of the best times I've had with a GL. Hope we can find more common ground.

You need to meet more cool GLs. It's a pity Guy's not here, you two would've had a blast.

[His expression turns briefly pensive, but cheerful again. He does miss Guy a lot, but it's not as awful as it was.]

I need to meet more people who know how to have fun. [The only one on the JL who actually knew how to was Wally, and, well... he's not likely to join in a bar fight. She grabs Kyle by the shoulders, pulling him close for a one armed hug. No being sad, goddammit.] For now, I'll have to settle for you.

[Usually he gets a bill for destruction of property but as long as there's no hard feelings, it works out fine for everyone involved. Here there's just... none of that, and it felt really nice just to cut loose.]

[He's surprised at the random affection, since she doesn't really seem the type at all, given what she'd said about nobody taking to her quickly. Then again, they're both strays, and those kind of people need to stick together.]

You make me sound like a consolation prize!

[OH YOU STUPID LITTLE BROTHER YOU. But she loves you to bits even if she'll never say it.] Oh, quit whining. You're way better than a consolation prize and you know it.

[He makes a whiny noise just for effect and then grins widely at her.]

Seriously though. I run the bar we have on Oa, it's not the Corps unless there's fights going on. It's why most of the furniture is easily moved for better brawling.

[Now you're just getting a playful shove. Soon you'll be like Wally.] Oh, that sounds like my kind of bar. Remind me to visit you there, I can wipe the floor with more of you GLs. [Yeah, she went there.]

[She gets a shoulder bump back.]

[Teasing, as they get to the noodle place and Kyle (again) holds the door open for her.]

Hey, I beat four, now five including you, of you Green Lanterns without even using my mace. [And once again, there's a smile as thanks for holding the door open. You sweetie, you.]

Maybe that's all part of my plan to catch you off-guard.

[He slides into a small corner seat, near the window, where he can see the door. Kyle doesn't expect anything to be stupid enough to come after them, but old habits die hard and he's always been wary.]

You're going to need to be a lot more clever than that to catch me off guard. [Don't worry, Shay's been in the same situation before. At least this time she'll have an extra set of eyes to help. And while a bar is one thing, you don't start a fight in a restaurant.]

[He waves a spoon at her.]

[Okay, give her a minute to really think on this.] You... might be able to get a few punches in.

[GROANS. And then, just. Orders, pointing to the menu.]

[SHE LOVES YOU, KYLE, deep down, she loves you. And this is Shayera we're talking about, so she'd normally order both. But he's paying today and she's kinda been teasing him, so it's time to be nice and order the second item he pointed out.] I'll have that one, then.

[... and one more thing.] You did actually pose a challenge in our first fight. Remember, when you shot at me with an arrow?

[He orders, thanks the waiter, and then glances at her quizzically.]

That was a challenge? [A pause.] I seriously need to brush up on my Thanagarian culture. I didn't accidentally promise you a fight to the death, did I?

[... oh you know what SHE IS GOING TO GO WITH IT.] No, it was a declaration of war. We have to gather up families of choice, then begin the war at the end of the month.

[Yes, you can hate her.]

[THE MOST SCEPTICAL STARE.]

[NO, SHE IS NOT BREAKING THIS STRAIGHT-FACED LOOK, NEVER.] Why do you think Thanagar is such a war-ridden world? Because everyone keeps shooting at each other for killing this person and betraying that family.

[She is persistent.]

[NOPE not convinced. He folds his arms and raises an eyebrow.]

I know you have a strike first policy but that extent is a little ridiculous, don't you think?

[wingedwarrior]

[Oh well, she had her fun.] I would, but that's pretty much the policy they have for me. [Because, you know, every Thanagarian wants her dead. Not that she can blame them.]

[The teasing's gone, and his expression becomes more serious, questioning, concerned.]

Mind if I ask?

[She speaks with a certain seriousness, but there's no signs of pain or regret. Yes, she let people down, but she won't wallow in the past anymore.] A few Thanagarians with a grudge tricked me and two other League members and got us trapped on a planet. Though they really only wanted me, but threatened to harm Vigilante and Vixen to get me. [And there were lots of feelings and Shayera felt better afterwards.]
