[Miles had been happy to be without his powers at first, but as time went on he found himself missing the feeling of swinging through the city on a web, helping people and stopping crimes. So when the powers come back on, he dons the suit and heads out.]

What do people in skintight costumes normally creep around for? Tryin' to stop some crimes around here.

...Not that there are many crimes to stop tonight.

I don't see many people in skintight costumes creeping around that I don't know.

[ She will just wait expectantly for some manner of name to be offered. ]

We must be from different universes. I'm Spider-Man.

[notdreaming]

[ Spider-Man. She considers that for a moment, then finally smiles and touches down to the ground. ]

I think I've heard of you, actually. I'm Kara.

[spiderkid]

Really? [Relax, Miles, she probably means Peter.

He lets out a breath when she sets down, because cool as it was, the flying thing was kind of intimidating.]

Is Kara your superhero name, or your regular name?

[ She raises an eyebrow, amused. Kinda cute. ]

I only have the one name.

[spiderkid]

Oh that's cool. [He has two names, but he's not telling you the other one.]

So are you a mutant or something?

[notdreaming]

Oh, no, I'm a Kryptonian. [ At least this is familiar ground. Santo has told her about mutants. That means they're from the same world, right? ]

An alien, to you anyway.

[spiderkid]

[Not exactly, but close enough.]

Oh. That's cool, I guess. You don't look like an alien.

[notdreaming]

In my experience I look exactly like an alien. Earth is the only other planet I've been to.

[spiderkid]

Not counting here. Unless this place is... Kryptonia?

[notdreaming]

Krypton. And no, it isn't. [ Her voice is a touch flatter than she means it to be - she can't talk about home without remembering that it's gone. ]

[spiderkid]

Yeah, 'cause you don't look like the locals. Now they look alien.

[notdreaming]

[ She looks a little dubious. ] They're not really that different, on the grander biological scale. They could be reptilian, or birds. They look mostly human.

[spiderkid]

Yeah, I suppose so. That makes sense. I mean, there are mutants who look less human than they do.

[notdreaming]

[ She hums her agreement as she nods.

She finds nothing unusual about chatting with a boy in latex in the middle of the night. ]

Like Santo. And that's just a relatively minor genetic mutation. It's really fascinating that most sentient species have the same basic structure.

I don't know Santo, but there's a blue furry guy named Kurt and a lizard guy named Victor around here.

You some kind of science nerd?

[notdreaming]

[ Nerd. That's a bad thing, isn't it? ]

No, not really. I come from a family of scientists.

[spiderkid]

[Not necessarily. Not to Miles.]

[ Well now she's a little embarrassed. ]

I'm sorry, I don't really know the word.

The word "nerd?" It basically means someone who's really smart and obsessed with like science and stuff.

[notdreaming]

I'm not obsessed.

[spiderkid]

'Kay maybe not obsessed obsessed, but like... really into it.

[notdreaming]

Well I guess if that's what you want to call it, then yes, I'm a nerd.
