EXTREMIST CELL | Open

Characters: Any and all that want in
Location: Metal Sector, "top right" turtle flipper
Situation: WHOOPS, Evandau missed the most extreme gang and now they're taking action. Help take down their HQ or put an end to their plot to damage Tu Vishan's mobility.
Warnings/Rating: Violence, possibly language, maybe blood.

The remnants of the Black Kirin came together into an extremist cell both anti-Foreigner and anti-Tu Vishan. They've been gathering their forces and resources for one massive attack on the turtle itself. Natasha Romanov has alerted the PC crew to this risk and now there are two focal points to counter: Dismantling the Black Kirin headquarters in the Metal Sector and dismantling the explosives tied and primed to the front flipper on the right side of Tu Vishan.

That means it's time to (optionally) pick sides and quests to lend a hand in. Participation in optional, but do you really want to see what happens when too many explosives go off on an extremely giant turtle?

As of Natasha's warning post, the operation is approximately four hours from being live and ready to execute. Time will be of the essence when it comes to putting a stop to it, because no one really knows how Tu Vishan would react to damage. And, to the Foreigners, what will happen if he submerges in self-defense and floods Keeliai?

Black Kirin HQ:
Evandau's actions during the festival took the head off the snake, but the venom remained and the heads regrew with the ferocity of the Hydra. Run now by a council of ten, the gang has taken over one of the taller buildings in Metal and hollowed out residences, offices, and storage to put together one large scale operation to blow off Tu Vishan's flipper.

Roughly half of their forces are holed up here, ready to storm the streets and block police response when the bombs go off. They're armed to the teeth with everything from swords to crossbows, many of them wearing varied forms of armor to protect themselves.

The roof of the building is where the signalling team is placed, with the simple utilisation of mirrors and light meant to trigger a message chain along a line of smaller outposts spaced between the building and the operation location at the flipper.

There are three priorities in this location:
>Apprehend (or end) the council of ten.
>Disarm and apprehend (or end) the armed forces.
>Disable the signalling equipment to prevent warning reaching the operation.

Tu Vishan's Flipper:
The top three lieutenants of the reborn Black Kirin are overseeing the operation to disable Tu Vishan's flipper. They have approximately sixty kedan with varying degrees of arms and armor defending the operation. In addition to this, there is a team of ten labourers working beneath the waterline to transport explosives and a team of five engineers to position and wire them

The armed kedan are similar to the forces within the headquarters, but are spaced further apart and have devoted one third of their number to shell border patrol/sentry duties and one third to boat patrol around the length of the flipper, which is submerged. They are alert for possible intervention, but not infalliable.

The placement teams are one engineer and two labourers, all working beneath the surface in gill-adapted forms to continue breathing as they work. They are using a variation of plastic explosives that represent cutting edge technology here on Tu Vishan and, most importantly, is waterproof. There are five floating platforms with supplies floating on the water with two guards per; here the labourers surface to obtain the next charge.

Each of the three lieutenants is on the move, joining each phase of the work to help and remind everyone who is in charge. Careful about engaging them! They are the top martial arts combatants of the Black Kirin and will not hesitate to use lethal force.

There are three priorities in this location:
>Apprehend (or end) the three lieutenants.
>Disarm and apprehend (or end) the armed forces.
>Disable the explosives to prevent damage to Tu Vishan.

[ Miranda ducked behind cover after bringing down the barrier only to get the shock of her, admittedly, already fulfilled life. She watched the mass of forces split open in a green rendition of the parting of the red sea, and had to swallow and scientific and natural curiosity. That would need to be tabled for now There were bigger things to worrow about; the bomb, the fact either of them failed to to mention this, the Hulk, the fact she was screwed out of information before a mission. ]

That [ Miranda snapped across the roar of the mayhem with a finger pointed at the mess the Hulk left behind, and a glare fixed on Stark ] Is what we call information on a need to know bases before a mission. And I would have needed to know.

Cover me. I'm following behind that...whatever the bloody hell that was, and getting to that bomb. If you see one of the lieutenants then put them down, or steer them our way.

[ With that she vaulted over her cover and ran behind what the Hulk had left behind in a bid to get to the explosives. ]

[ Having arrived moments earlier, Korra is looking around at the situation and trying to gauge what's really going on. Urgh, these pesky kedan... but her eyes spot a trio of people by some rocks. They don't look to be a part of the enemy kedan, and before Korra could approach either of them, one of them turned into a gigantic, hulking... mass of green flesh and rage. Then he sped off, clearing a path ahead.

Yeah. Definitely not one of the kedan, but even the Avatar's not sure they're a friendly.

She'll have to ask later what the heck that was all even about, but Korra's not gonna pass an opportunity given to her. She bolts straight on the path the Hulk clears out while flinging chunks of rock at scattered kedan. She also manages to catch up to Miranda, but she doesn't notice - she's more focused on trying to get to the bomb she heard about. ]

[ Miranda is more attuned to her surroundings and thrives in chaos with a cool head in spite of a nail like the odd outburst. The inclusion of, yet another, unknown threw her out of the fray momentarily long enough that she rounded on Korra while still making for the bomb site. ]

Who are y- ?!

[ She was cut short by what was left of the enemy resistance turning on them. While she had made it clear she didn't want to exhaust all of her biotics on every little thing, Miranda acted out of instinct when they fired off at them with a hail of cross bolts. In silent fury she threw three of them up with a biotic field that lifted them clear off the ground along with chunks of rubble. She sent it all crashing into what was left of their right flank before turning back on Korra. ]

Never mind the questions -- if you're muscle then you're coming with me.
allbend: (if you don't like it)

[personal profile] allbend 2012-09-24 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
So you got a plan on how to deal with that bomb?

[ Korra silently approves of whatever power Miranda just used, but she also doesn't stop in her run. There's another kedan trying to get at them, but Korra throws a large ball of flame to knock him and his accomplice that stood behind him to the side. ]
ancillary: (I know exactly what I want)

[personal profile] ancillary 2012-09-24 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, it's called knowing what the hell I'm doing.

[ It was unkind of her to scream while they were both running across what was now a battlefield, but to be fair. The girl didn't look much for a technical expert that would know how to diffuse plastic explosives. ]

There are plastic explosives five hundred yards east of where we are. If you want to help, then you can keep laying pressure on the remaining enemy forces while I deactivate the bomb.
allbend: (it's none of your business)

[personal profile] allbend 2012-09-24 02:51 am (UTC)(link)
[ Korra almost sneers in response to Miranda's first comment - wow, friendly aren't you, Miranda? - but she merely makes a face. Of course, Korra thought that if nothing else, she could somehow just do away with the bomb and fling it somewhere. Yup. Real plan right there. ]

Sounds simple enough. Lead the way, Boss Lady. [ Though this is not said with any deference. ]
ancillary: (You shoot me down)

[personal profile] ancillary 2012-09-30 07:33 am (UTC)(link)
[ Miranda said nothing to the affect that she either appreciated Korra's cooperation, or found it a liability. That would all come out in the end when the smoke cleared. If she could keep lobbing the hostiles around like rag dolls than Miranda figured she could work out the finer details in the after math.

It had gotten to where the only the that stood between them and the explosives were a handful of guards standing sentinel out of the Hulk's path. They were dedicated. Miranda had to give them as much.

When she was in range, Miranda aimed and shot the gang member farthest away from the bomb point blank in the head. He crumbled to her feet in a bloodied lump. Too focused on the task at hand, she hadn't even considered if Korra was mentally prepared for lethal force.
]

Three more then we're all clear to deactivate the bomb.

[personal profile] allbend 2012-10-02 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
[ To be honest, Korra somehow expected that some of these... people had to go. She just did, and Korra has to accept that quickly before she nods. Hey, Korra'll make things easier by slamming her foot on the ground, making the ground beneath the remaining three jut out and sending them careening into the air. Blasts of fire from below throw them out even further and away so that they're sure not to interfere with whatever Miranda wanted to do. ]

That better for you?
ancillary: (Fire away)

[personal profile] ancillary 2012-10-02 12:28 am (UTC)(link)
[ Miranda watched Korra carefully, more so than their targets now; appraising her inexplicable command over the terrain and that trick with fire. Her hesitance to kill was noted if not expected, but this wasn't the time to verbally tear through a teenager for not taken kill shots. She was good cover fire, so to speak, all the same. ]

If not, then certainly more interesting. Keep that up; I'll have the explosives taken care of in a moment.

[ Miranda coldly stepped over the body she put down personally before she made her way over to a rather innocuousness looking black mass. She bent down and ran preliminary scans, calling out to Korra over her shoulder. ]

I'll need your foot work to bury this thing in the ground once I kill it.
allbend: (where you at?)

[personal profile] allbend 2012-10-02 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
[ Korra briefly takes the moment to see if there is anyone else around, but finding nothing, she makes her way to Miranda. Discreetly going over that downed man before standing beside Miranda and staring at the bomb. ]

And that's all? That won't injure the turtle or anything?
ancillary: (I just want to make a change)

[personal profile] ancillary 2012-10-02 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
[ Miranda flat out ignored Korra's questions; instead she kept her back turned and crouched over the explosives. She kept at it until she heard a tell-tale click, and sighed with palpable relief when they weren't smears on the ground. Only then did she register Korra's presence again. ]

I just need you to smother the thing; make it inoperable in case they try to repair it.
allbend: (world is mine)

[personal profile] allbend 2012-10-02 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
Alright, give it here.

[ And taking that bomb, eying it warily for a moment before earthbending a deep enough hole in the ground. Even though Miranda giving it to her must mean she deactivated it, Korra still carefully places the bomb inside before--

SMASH. The hole closes in on itself, and Korra lets out a relieved sigh. ]

Right. Done and done!
ancillary: (Default)

[personal profile] ancillary 2012-10-02 12:51 am (UTC)(link)
[ Miranda's only readily apparent gratitude is the curt nod she gave Korra before running another scan. Dead as a door nail, but that didn't mean they were out of the woods just yet. Still in the brief respite, Miranda figured she could try to be gracious. It always helped to have a krogan on hand, or just a very physical teenager.

With a stiff motion, she extended a hand to Korra.
]

Miranda Lawson -- nice work.
allbend: (tell me baby)

[personal profile] allbend 2012-10-02 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
[ Korra blinks at that hand offered to her. Whoa, a sign of friendliness at last? That makes her a smile and she readily shakes Miranda's hand in an enthusiastic, but firm grip. ]

I'm Korra. We make a good team, don't you think?
ancillary: (in heavy love will dry)

[personal profile] ancillary 2012-10-02 11:02 am (UTC)(link)
[ A strong handshake compounded with her usefulness in combat puts Miranda at ease, somewhat. She doesn't smile, but her appreciation is there in the gesture. ]

I'd certainly say so. The proof is there in the collateral damage, and telling lack thereof.
allbend: (but here's my number)

[personal profile] allbend 2012-10-05 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
[ ... Bwuh. Is that a good or bad thing? She just nods and lets go of Miranda's hand. General impression of the woman gives Korra a vibe similar to Chief Beifong. She knows when to keep it curt, at least. ]

Yeah, but the job's not really finished, is it?
ancillary: (one track heart)

[personal profile] ancillary 2012-10-06 11:28 am (UTC)(link)
It never is. I need to get into contact with the people I came here with, and see if they've managed to subdue any of the Cell's lieutenants.

[ Miranda raked a hand through her dark hair; anxious as she surveyed the surrounding area once more. She looked a Korra once more, and her expression faltered -- almost crestfallen. ]

Rather you not come with me if there's going to be citizen arrests. Or interrogations. Did you see any civilians get caught up in any of this on your way in?
allbend: (security just can't fight them off)

[personal profile] allbend 2012-10-10 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
[ Korra tilts her head at that look Miranda's giving her. ]

Not that I know of, but... why can't I come with you?
ancillary: (We used to leave the blue lights on)

[personal profile] ancillary 2012-10-10 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
That one over there?

[ Miranda coldly motioned to the one kedan she put down; still crumpled on the ground near by. ]

Got the quick and easy side of armed conflict, and we'd do a hell of a lot worse to a captured extremist with information not ready to give it up.
allbend: (i work out)

[personal profile] allbend 2012-10-10 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
[ Korra pauses and glances back at the killed man. A corner of her lip turns down, never having dealt with such fatalities before, but...

She shakes her head. ]

And? I still wanna go and try to help however I can. [ Probably not with a full on interrogation, but. ] We want to end this quickly, don't we? I can't just sit this out now.
ancillary: (I just wanna change)

[personal profile] ancillary 2012-10-10 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
That wasn't a suggestion; that was an order.

[ Miranda was close to shouting when she turned, and rounded on Korra as should had many time before on those under her. ]

Quickly doesn't imply any sort of rash behavior on our part, and I'll be damned to allow anyone to treat this like a game. [ She sighed, and although she wasn't yelling her demeanor didn't soften much. ]

There's going to be a fallout with this. I'm going to need your help on the front lines, but any sort of eagerness on your part is a liability. I'm not turning you away, but I'm not having a teenager shadow an interrogation.
allbend: (this is what i see)

[personal profile] allbend 2012-10-20 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
[ Korra doesn't flinch or step back when Miranda rounds on her. Just focuses on trying to get where the older woman's coming from. ]

Since when the heck did I think this was a game? [ Grumbles, then she sighs, shaking her head. Arguing with someone who's supposedly an ally doesn't help matters, and in one way... it sounds like Miranda's trying to keep her out of something's way? ]

Look-- okay, you want me at the front lines?
