Her eyes move to his knee, the jiggling pulling her attention, and she registers the motion as maybe something a little anxious. Annabeth moves her free hand to his knee, resting it there gently. "It's just talking to fish, Percy." It has all the intents and purposes of being calming, but there's a challenge in it, too; he shouldn't be this nervous if it was only what he keeps insisting.

He opens his mouth and then shuts it again when she places her hand on his knee. Percy can hear it in his voice, he's totally been made, but he doesn't even care. It's just so Annabeth, being able to tell he's nervous, offering comfort and trying to figure things out at the same time. She gets a quick kiss to the cheek. "I love you more than dolphins."
Yeah he went there.

The kiss on the cheek and his statement distract her enough that she lets out a short laugh. "Such a high standard. What about octopi? Or whales?"

The cart comes to a stop and he blinks, before smiling again. "I guess we're here, come on." He'll lead her out of the cart, and the first thing that should be apparent is that this is not a fancy party. It's a fancy restaurant.

Annabeth notices right away the reality of the building, and she starts giving him the barest traces of A Look. She lets him lead her out despite that, but she does elbow him in the side. "Percy."

He reaches out to take her hand again, tangling their fingers together. "If you keep hitting me, they probably won't let us in."

"Much better." She leans up and kisses him, soft but meaningful. "You're still an idiot, and if they don't let us in after all that effort, it'll be the least of your concerns."
