Characters: Diana of Themyscira & anyone!
Date: 8/7
Location: Earth Sector, Turtle's head
Situation: After settling down for a bit, Diana needs to get some fresh air and decides to explore her surroundings
Warnings/Rating: None/Will add if necessary
Honestly, she could've reacted better to the situation. That was the first thing that occurred to her when she had finally settled down in her provided suite. She had been taught as a child to expect the worst, that things will not always go as you expect, but to be told that you were to be stuck in an unknown dimension until you wake? That wasn't very promising. If it was so easy to slip in here just by sleeping at night, it was going to be a problem when she gets back.
When, because she thinks it's possible, but right now she's not sure how. It was a wonder the locals were initially angry with her too for lashing out. She could've, should've, handled that more diplomatically. She would in most situations, and had she been in a dangerous fight maybe she would've accepted it with more grace, but her temper got the best of her and it was only when the explanations started that she settled. Uneasy, but on the bright side she had not attacked anyone. She was still in control of that.
Still, that didn't make her feel better about being here. Even if they assured her time does not pass the same way here as they did back home, she still worried about Steve, about her mother. They would definitely worry, and she didn't even get the chance to assure them she will be fine.
It takes her a few hours before she convinces herself to walk. A few hours of meditating, remembering the teachings of her mother on how to reign in her temper, before she manages to calm herself down. Enough, at least, to investigate the land to which she was brought into. She had noticed the computer on the side, found no reason to use it for now, and settled on moving about and trying to find clothes, at least. All she had was her armour, which she was proud of, but she remembers the need to not draw attention to herself here. Steve taught her the importance of anonymity and blending in to a culture she had not been used to, and while she wasn't 100% okay with it, she understood the importance enough to let it be. Besides, it kept people from flocking her, and that was good enough for now.
So she moves about the Earth sector, at awe at the sight but also a bit too melancholic to full appreciate it. Occasionally, she can be found checking local wares halfheartedly, sometimes she's talking to the local children to ask for directions. One time she can be found sitting in a tree just watching people. This happens for the whole afternoon, as she doesn't venture to the other cities first until she's satisfied her curiosity here.
At the end of her exploration, she can be found sitting over at the head, overlooking the sea. She's less melancholic at this point, but still wistful. It would be nearing night when that happens, but she wouldn't mind conversation now.

Let's go with after!
"As I've been told. Good evening, out to enjoy the view?"
no subject
Which is really the best reason to be out here. Dinah grins at Diana, friendly and still pleased to see her, and then the lack of recognition in her face gets through.
"...and you have no idea who I am, do you?"
no subject
"I believe I come from an earlier time than you. I've only just settled in Washington a few weeks ago." She pauses, as she considers how to approach this. Blunt would be best, it keeps awkwardness to a minimum. "How do we know each other?"
no subject
It's just so much more sucky when it's Diana. She chooses her words carefully, according to how her friend would put it.
"We've been fighting side by side for as long as you've been in the wider world," she says. "Which has been my entire adult life. You're one of my very best friends in the world."
She offers a hand to shake.
"Hi, I'm Dinah."

Best friend, though, was surprising. That makes her eyes widen, before she looks a little skeptical, but nonetheless goes to shake her hand. It was the same with Arthur, and Hera did she know so many people in the future? It makes her feel bad that she can't confirm or deny these, and if she was telling the truth, that makes it worse.
"It is an honor to meet you, Dinah. Arthur mentioned that I had been part of a league, but it is still a lot to take in." She leaves the rest of it unspoken-- She's not sure she completely believes it, but she was willing to accept the possibility of it. Surely, there were great warriors out there, even ones she has yet to meet. One in front of her as well.

"I bet it is," she says. "If you'd told me back when I was starting out, that I'd be friends with a King and a Princess and an alien, I'd probably have laughed in your face."
no subject
"Oh, trust me. Perhaps somewhere down the line, I would laugh at all this. Today has yet to not surprise me, that is certain."
no subject
She spreads her hands then, not a hundred percent sure where to go from here. "Did Arthur fill you in on everything?"
no subject
"No. I chose not to know all the details of my meeting with the rest of the League. I did not want to let this color my perception before I met them myself. Why?"

"Why would anyone poison their own home? How could they be so ungrateful?"

She hadn't liked that mentality one bit, but it was one she had witnessed and lived in. "How bad is this threat to us?"
no subject
That's not the question Diana asked, but Dinah feels it helps answer it, at least. She turns out to look over the ocean beyond the head as she searches for the words to answer the rest of the questioning.
"It's a pretty big threat. It's already taken and threatened some of the people here, from what I understand. And the last time people were brought in to help, there were no survivors."
no subject
"Where did this threat come from, and why is he after our host?"
no subject
"I wish I knew."
Honestly, she wishes she'd thought to ask. But... "I don't think anyone knows. He's not exactly been forthcoming with the people he's threatened."
