Situation: Dreaming is but one of the three realms and here characters are subject to their fanciful thoughts.

Sinbrilee | Dreaming | Death

Life. Dreaming. Death. Three realms overlaid upon one another and yet each distinctly their own. They dwell in Life and do so live upon the back of the great turtle as those of Sinbrilee did upon the shell of his sister. However, there stand numerous arches of marble throughout the ruined city that are inlaid with runes beyond understanding. Those that live and breathe which step through those whose runes glow with faint, iridescent light tread instead into the realm of Dreaming.

Here, there exists no single defining characteristic beyond the visitor's imagination. The landscape sculpts to their individual thoughts, the events to their dreams. From a drab gray nothing to the most brilliant of displays, the senses perceive all that they wish to perceive for all that nothing here truly exists. This far from Tu Vishan, the ability to shape their surroundings is all they have, for Sinbrilee's Dreaming does not have the energy to sustain powers, only the bodies of those that dwell here.

Should two parties near, then the Mesh begins. Dreams, you see, not only can be shared, but they strive to be. These visions sculpted into reality reach out for one another and blend. They begin an exchange akin to a linking of the minds, within which one visitor can learn the other's deepest thoughts. Their limitation is but compatibility, for two minds that cannot flow upon the same current cannot hold the Mesh.

Happiness or loss, the landscape and events play out memories and fancies with a most convincing air. The mood rises and falls with the tide of the visitor's mind, detached as they are from the soothing influence of a great turtle's mind. Nothing here, however, is real; 'constructs' simply fade if taken through the archways and even the greatest scientific minds or tools will reveal nothing of its source. This is an ancient magic of an ancient realm, long practised in concealing itself from any prying.

[Her nose scrunches up at the thought, but she nods with a determination in her eyes.]

Yeah! We'll kick their butts!

That's the spirit. We'll beat them to hell and back. [Shayera gives her a confident smirk, holding up a fist.]

[Zatanna looks surprised for a moment at the 'h' word, lips forming into a small 'o'. But Shayera was a grownup, so it was probably okay.]

[So instead, she tried to imitate her, holding her own fist in a similar fashion.]

[She grins down at Zatanna, giving her a small fist bump. She might not be the wisest with kids, but she can learn.] I bet he'd be proud of you.

So can we go rescue Daddy now?

[Score.] Sure. Do you have any idea where he could've gone?

[A shrug is all the four-year-old can manage.]

I dunno.

We were 'sposed to go for taquitos.

[wingedwarrior]

[She wants to make a comment about how she should get used to being let down by men, but. Yeah, she's holding her tongue big time.] Looks like we'll have to chastise him about that, too. Your dad's in an awful lot of trouble.

[Yeah, a comment like that would go right over her head. And later be attempted refuted by her usual self, considering a good percentage of the boys in hers were actually people she could rely on. Most of the time.]

Yeah, he's in big trouble!

I'm gonna ground him when I see him.

[Oh, she likes you Zatanna.] You'd better start thinking up a good punishment, then. Maybe have him do your chores for a month.

[She shakes her head.]

No, that won't work. I use magic to clean my room just the way I like it. It's not hard.

[wingedwarrior]

[You lucky kids and your magic.] Well, you know him a lot better than I do. I'm sure you'll come up with something good.

I'm sure I will. I'm super smart, you know. Daddy said.

...buuuuuut... [And here, she does her best impression of looking as sweet and innocent and buy-me-something as possible. It always worked on her Daddy's stage hands.] I'm sure I could be even smarter if I had food. Like Taquitos!

[wingedwarrior]

[Batman's Batman, he doesn't need it. And sorry, Zatanna, but Shayera works with Wally. She's immune to puppy dog eyes!] Let's see how well you do without them for now. Motivate yourself a little.

[No fair! That always worked! Always.]

...but I'm hungry.

[wingedwarrior]

Then we'll have to hurry and find your dad so you can get those taquitos. [Speaking of finding him, Shayera would've expected to run into someone familiar by now. It's Zatanna's memory, right? So she should've found her father son.]

[...exactly.]

[Shayera was only just starting to clue in on the problem: they should have found Giovanni by now. If that had played out like a simple memory, either he or somebody he trusted would have come to claim the little girl by now. But nobody was coming. Nobody would come.]

But what if I can't wait that long?

[wingedwarrior]

Then I'll get you something to eat. [She's not about to let a little girl starve to death. But the lack of people... it's unsettling.] Don't you think your father would've asked someone to come look after you by now?

[She frowns. This time, not from the lack of food.]

You found me.

Are you sure daddy didn't send you?

[wingedwarrior]

Yes. I don't really know your father that well. [Or at all, but she knows bits and pieces about him.] But I've heard about you, so I thought it best to look after you. Where does your father usually go?

He always told me he went to watch a tower. ['The Watchtower'] But I don't know which tower.

[wingedwarrior]

The Watchtower. [Okay, she's not sure she can get Zatanna there. Let's try for a simpler place.] What about your home? Think he might be there?

[backwordscompatible]

Not without me.

[This much, at least, was true; unsurprisingly, the house of one of the greatest magic users in the world would be protected enough from outside supernatural influences that it would have been the safest place to leave his daughter. Certainly safer than a public mall.]

[wingedwarrior]

Do you have any way to contact your dad? [They've got to start working somewhere, and Shayera would rather not mess around in someone else's mind.]

[She shook her head.]

Daddy says I'm not old enough to have a cell phone yet.
