Event | Sinbrilee | Bacchanal
Characters: Any and all!
Date: August 24 - 30th
Location: Sinbrilee
Situation: An ancient festival of an ancient city, all are welcome at the Bacchanal!
Warnings/Rating: Please label threads as appropriate.
Death and destruction cannot curtail the single most important festival celebrated by the denizens of Sinbrilee: The Bacchanal! The ghosts in and about the city have begun to gossip about high fashion and festivities, sending any that inquire to the Amphitheatre -- a grand, circular structure nestled in the west side of the city.
This structure bore the fall of Sinbrilee and the wear of time with dignity, having lost handfuls of archways and one long stretch of wall to crumbling decay. Despite this, it is obvious that the amphitheatre once hosted many a display and every more festivities than the mind can grasp. This was their solace and safety; here is where the people of Sinbrilee came to find the mind's escape from all that threatened them and their great turtle.
Ghosts have been busy throughout the week, clearing paths through debris and hanging great cloth banners of soft blues and greens to disguise the more blatant signs of its decline. Many hundreds of them shimmer and slid through the area, providing for tables upon tables of food, offering drink, and overseeing competition of sport and skill (some even denying death's non-corporeal curse to enter).
Here, well... Here is where the party begins!

Will Graham | OTA | Prose or action is cool, w/e
He's not as nervous as he would be in such a populated setting though, living populous or otherwise. Will had gone to the baths in Sinbrilee before coming and the calming waters had eased his restlessness some. He would have been worried about seeing Abigail or Hannibal here, especially the latter, but instead he just relaxes, looking over the people in attendance and listening to the music play.
[[ooc: Feel free to have your character approach Will or he can wander across your character if you have a threadstarter up.]]
i hope action is ok
He notices a man standing by himself, probably of the same non-dancing breed as Dexter, roughly the same age. Most men in their mid-thirties would jump at the chance to dance with some of the women here. ]
Not big on dancing?
[ At least, with this, Dexter can continue to watch the people and make mental notes about them. See if anybody looks out of place, like they have something to hide, like they may meet the code. ]
action is always ok, forever ok
There's a level of intimacy involved. I'm not terribly connected with anyone here.

[ And if I do, it's faked. People fake a lot of human interaction, but I fake most of them... And I do it well. ]

/jazz hands]I do. Too easily, [hah] so I try to hold everyone at arms length.

Toby has a drink in hand as he sidles up to stand near Will. "The way you're floating about I might almost mistake you for one of the ghosts." Toby engages in people watching, his gaze not on Will even as he talks to him and stands beside him. He takes a sip of his drink. "Except for, you know, the whole human looking aspect."
no subject
Will laughs a little bit. "I may as well be sometimes." He makes a quick glance to Toby, before looking back over the crowd of dancers, ghost and living. He preferred not to be noticed so much, but his lack of animal companionship and relatively forced interaction with people he didn't know... He could admit that it wasn't bad, so long as it wasn't overwhelming.
no subject
"Only sometimes?" Toby asks. As far as Toby was concerned, he couldn't really muster the energy to care about any of the people here. He didn't hate them, he didn't love them, it was just a series of casual encounters at the end of the day. It was what most interactions amounted to after so many centuries. There was no reason to invest really into those things which would disappear eventually.
"I usually would've skipped entirely, but it's not every day you get to attend a party hosted by ghosts."
no subject
"And I figured coming might encourage me to be less of a hermit." He had a steady start so far.

When he speaks, it's with the sort of light friendliness that has never known shyness. "Care to dance, or are you very much content adding to the aesthetics of this corner of the room? Not a criticism; you do it well."

Will's eyebrows slowly raise as he processes Dorian's comment. He's never been approached that way by a man before, this including any social outings he attended in his college days. He's also never considered looking at a guy that way either. But regardless of gender, as a woman could have come up and asked the same thing, he becomes quite flustered.
"I'm not... really the dancing type. But thank you?"
no subject
Dorian isn't bothered in the slightest by the rejection, however; when Dorian decides he wants to talk to someone, he does. So it's with gentle amusement that he replies. "I should be hurt, I think, that that was a question. Are you the conversing type?"
no subject
It was a question more by Will's awkwardness than anything else. He's nowhere near as straightforward as Dorian by any means, unless he were to be teaching. But that's simple by comparison, something Will is familiar with. The FBI didn't exactly hold galas or anything.
"Sometimes." He stops there for a moment, considering that he really should be more personable. "Now could be one of them."

action for this one.
Just here for the people-watching tonight?
action it is
Old pass-time. [Easy human interaction without interacting.]

He can't get drunk, he's got to distract himself somehow.]
Ahh, are you nervous? You really don't look the sort who's comfortable at this kind of shindig.

He extends a hand to Ricardo.]
Bit of a crowd tonight.
he's too young for you Will...
[Ricardo doesn't immediately take that hand. He's in no rush to get up, brushing his sleeve first and then his hands before he reaches up for Will's, although he pushes himself up more than pulls.]
Thank you. I apologize for bumping into you. Are you all right?

Hannibal was aware that his presence may be upsetting to Will, but alas, he didn't care and approached him anyways. They had to meet in person again sometime, right?]
Hello, Will.

do u like it hannibal do u like the view? Will looks over at Hannibal, who looks as put together as always. He was envious of how in control he was, and Will took in a breath to keep himself relaxed.]
I imagined you'd probably be here.

[Haha, get it? Because you also know he's a serial killer? Except no, if Will accuses him of that again he'll deny it outright, he just likes messing with him.
And yes, he does appreciate the view.]
Are you doing alright?
