Event | Sinbrilee | Bacchanal

Characters: Any and all!
Date: August 24 - 30th
Location: Sinbrilee
Situation: An ancient festival of an ancient city, all are welcome at the Bacchanal!
Warnings/Rating: Please label threads as appropriate.

Death and destruction cannot curtail the single most important festival celebrated by the denizens of Sinbrilee: The Bacchanal! The ghosts in and about the city have begun to gossip about high fashion and festivities, sending any that inquire to the Amphitheatre -- a grand, circular structure nestled in the west side of the city.

This structure bore the fall of Sinbrilee and the wear of time with dignity, having lost handfuls of archways and one long stretch of wall to crumbling decay. Despite this, it is obvious that the amphitheatre once hosted many a display and every more festivities than the mind can grasp. This was their solace and safety; here is where the people of Sinbrilee came to find the mind's escape from all that threatened them and their great turtle.

Ghosts have been busy throughout the week, clearing paths through debris and hanging great cloth banners of soft blues and greens to disguise the more blatant signs of its decline. Many hundreds of them shimmer and slid through the area, providing for tables upon tables of food, offering drink, and overseeing competition of sport and skill (some even denying death's non-corporeal curse to enter).

Here, well... Here is where the party begins!

[ Ah, Christ. Natu. Right. If only he had a drink to bury his jackassery in, but Kyle's about to fix that. He better know to make his a double. ]

And stubborn at all others. Yeah, I noticed. [ No, there is absolutely no affection in the way he grumps about that brat. ]

That's alright, he didn't interrupt anythin' [ Unless you consider aimless wandering an intensive hobby. ] Jim dragged me here [ And totally abandoned him to the wilderness of people! ] And I can't in good conscience leave him alone--by himself. [ Someone has too look out for the innocent bystanders that always become victims of circumstance when he barrels through. ]

Stubbornness seems to be a common human trait - at least among Lanterns. ( as if she's somehow exempt from it, as if it's not one of the traits that helps make a lantern a good lantern. ) He does seem to manage to find himself in the most unusual situations.

( kirk, that is, from her limited exposure to him. but then soranik finds herself at a loss for anything that might be a good conversation starter and wishes she could tell kyle off for convincing her to come and then abandoning her alone with someone she's only passingly familiar with. he knows she dislikes crowds.

running a hand through her hair she gives mccoy a rueful smile, exasperated at everything. )

Crowds.

( and a half shrug, as if that one word alone could encapsulate how she feels about... everything. )

Well, it's a rampant disease among Starfleet officers as well... [ He almost brings his hand to his mouth to take a sip, but of course, he has nothing in them. There is a sad sigh as he turns his gaze back to the extravaganza before them that they are unwilling to participate in. ]

God, tell me about it. At least the liquor is complimentary.

So, [ Okay, here comes the awkward social interaction part. ] I haven't thanked you yet for lettin' me work in your clinic. It was mighty kind of you since I was fresh off the boat. Or the... turtle shell, I guess.

I had noticed that as well.

( no shame in admitting that she finds kirk to oftentimes be as bad as the earth lanterns? no shame in the slightest. she can do shop talk, that's something she absolutely can do. )

You came highly recommended - the best in Starfleet.

( soranik's own ego prevents her from saying 'the best' as jim had mentioned - considering her own claim to that as founded completely in fact. if she can't save someone, there is no saving them. )

So did you...

[ It's a lie to say that her status as the best in the universe doesn't grate against his own ego from time to time, but the last thing he needs is to act the fool for an abstract title. Besides, the damn universe hasn't been completely mapped yet anyway! ]

Think it was about the third thing outta Jim's mouth when I got here actually--'Course, that's 'cause he had a goddamn cast on his leg. [ And they both knew he would have had an aneurysm right then and there if the kid hadn't fessed up to being in good hands in McCoy's absence. A cast! Ugh, it makes him shudder just remembering how backwater it all is. ]

He was in good hands...
