Event | Sinbrilee | Bacchanal
Characters: Any and all!
Date: August 24 - 30th
Location: Sinbrilee
Situation: An ancient festival of an ancient city, all are welcome at the Bacchanal!
Warnings/Rating: Please label threads as appropriate.
Death and destruction cannot curtail the single most important festival celebrated by the denizens of Sinbrilee: The Bacchanal! The ghosts in and about the city have begun to gossip about high fashion and festivities, sending any that inquire to the Amphitheatre -- a grand, circular structure nestled in the west side of the city.
This structure bore the fall of Sinbrilee and the wear of time with dignity, having lost handfuls of archways and one long stretch of wall to crumbling decay. Despite this, it is obvious that the amphitheatre once hosted many a display and every more festivities than the mind can grasp. This was their solace and safety; here is where the people of Sinbrilee came to find the mind's escape from all that threatened them and their great turtle.
Ghosts have been busy throughout the week, clearing paths through debris and hanging great cloth banners of soft blues and greens to disguise the more blatant signs of its decline. Many hundreds of them shimmer and slid through the area, providing for tables upon tables of food, offering drink, and overseeing competition of sport and skill (some even denying death's non-corporeal curse to enter).
Here, well... Here is where the party begins!

Told you you'd be saying it.
no subject
Thank you, Kyle. For everything you did tonight. And before you say anything [She holds up a finger!] I don't give a care if we are family, I can still say thank you when I want.
no subject
[He grins at her as they spin.]
Come on, that charm was all you. I just bought the dress.
no subject
And let me... let's say modify it. [Yeah, that's a nice way of putting it.] Didn't think I'd be able to pull tonight off.
no subject
Did you? I had complete faith you'd knock everyone dead. How many people asked you to dance?
no subject
no subject
[It's a testament to his willpower that he doesn't tell her to keep it down or hiss at her or stop dead in the middle of the dance floor, but his body language becomes significantly muted. Not here.]
Oh? And?
no subject
[She hesitates before asking the next part.] Do you want me to turn him down?
no subject
[But Jenny said he was going to be a father, and the next thing he knew—]
[He swallows.]
Do what you think is right.
[He's not going to stand in anyone's way. Donna was happier with Roy and that was it. No bells or whistles to anything, no use pining for something he couldn't have.]
no subject
[Your happiness means more to me. The look she gives him right now practically screams that.]
no subject
C'mon. Let's just dance.
no subject
Kyle. Talk to me. [She's getting a little sick of saying that.] I've never been in a position like this before, and I need to know if I hurt you so I don't do it again.
no subject
You didn't hurt me.
[He means it.]
I just. Uh. People have a habit. Of leaving.
no subject
Which is why she looks confused, and almost offended when he says that.] I'm not leaving you. I've been left before, and it hurts, I'd never do that to you. [But then a little light bulb goes off.] Or is it Jim you're worried about?
no subject
[He can't understand what it means to be needed, because no one tells him.]
I - he wouldn't. It's complicated.
[He exhales.]
My love life's always been kind of a wreck.
no subject
[He's got a ton of shot bottled up, and Shayera thinks it's high time he let it out. And as much as it sounds stupid and corny, let his goddamn emotions out for once.]
no subject
[Following where she leads, he waits for her to ask the questions, knowing she won't pull punches, and steeling himself for it.]
no subject
[Her tone is a mix of firm and serious, but still concerned and caring. She wants to know what's wrong, but she won't be a hardass about it.]
no subject
You're going to have to be more specific.
[A lot of shit has happened to him :c]
no subject
The other part is saying who cares if you get it wrong, just try.] Where did it all start going wrong, I suppose.
no subject
[In answer, he simply holds up the ring.]
no subject
[Who wants to stay with someone who's not even on the same planet half the time? Off saving the galaxy, never hearing from them. She slides her hand into his, gently squeezing it for comfort.] Which one hurt the most?
[She doesn't know how many relationships he's been in, but with how it sounds, there's been a few.]
no subject
They all did.
[He can't quantify what he left, or put it on a scale of which one hurt the most. To him, he loved deeply and completely, and when that was rejected, no matter who was doing it, it just hurt. His whole world, his rocks, were gone.]
no subject
[She feels as though the farther he digs, the more she screws up. But she's done that before, and she never quit. And now is definitely not the time to.]
no subject
[Quietly:]
She asked me to choose between her and duty. You know what I'd do - what I had to. I can give everything, but not - that. Ever.
[Barely audible:]
I was going to be a father.
