Event | Sinbrilee | Bacchanal
Characters: Any and all!
Date: August 24 - 30th
Location: Sinbrilee
Situation: An ancient festival of an ancient city, all are welcome at the Bacchanal!
Warnings/Rating: Please label threads as appropriate.
Death and destruction cannot curtail the single most important festival celebrated by the denizens of Sinbrilee: The Bacchanal! The ghosts in and about the city have begun to gossip about high fashion and festivities, sending any that inquire to the Amphitheatre -- a grand, circular structure nestled in the west side of the city.
This structure bore the fall of Sinbrilee and the wear of time with dignity, having lost handfuls of archways and one long stretch of wall to crumbling decay. Despite this, it is obvious that the amphitheatre once hosted many a display and every more festivities than the mind can grasp. This was their solace and safety; here is where the people of Sinbrilee came to find the mind's escape from all that threatened them and their great turtle.
Ghosts have been busy throughout the week, clearing paths through debris and hanging great cloth banners of soft blues and greens to disguise the more blatant signs of its decline. Many hundreds of them shimmer and slid through the area, providing for tables upon tables of food, offering drink, and overseeing competition of sport and skill (some even denying death's non-corporeal curse to enter).
Here, well... Here is where the party begins!

[A pause] A what? [A sign of hers :'D That, and the fact that she never paid attention in Economics.] And as for me, not really. I kind of got my important thing all wrapped up. Being here is definitely more interesting than anything I could be getting up to at home. [She blinks a little at the question] I think...this Stiles guy sounds either paranoid, or way into sleepovers. Why's he want to rotate?
no subject
[ He's fucking not. ] Recession. An economic recession. Is this another world differences thing? Am I going to have to explain high school again? [ That got annoying, sorry Margaery. ] He says it'll be safer. But, he mentioned my super fancy sweet - [ a head tilt town, is he smoldering? not on purpose! ] I'm in the fire sector.

[WOW OKAY, sometimes Catty wishes that she hadn't giving up her evil bitch persona so quickly, it had been a lot easier to be confident with flirting when she was pretending to embrace the dark side. She carries on a little hurriedly, ducking her head slightly] No, I'm definitely familiar with the concept of high school [Aaaand lifting her head a little to grin at him again] The practice of actually going to high school? Not so much.
Oooh. So your friend wants in on your mansion, huh? Honestly, the tree houses are pretty fun, too. Rotating could be fun, but I doubt you'd be that much safer. Unless there's like, something on this place specifically out to get you. In which case, I'd say don't rotate on a schedule.
no subject
He isn't sure. And he doesn't really know how to reply. He can fake mess with and flirt with Scott because it's a bro thing. But, girls don't flirt with him. Ever. Even whatever he has with Allison is deeper and weirdly... alluring? But, it's not flirting. But, she is cute. ] Were you kicked out? [ God, Isaac, not everyone was a missing fugitive. ]
So, rotate randomly? Tonight, let's go treehouse? [ A brief laugh. ] Maybe we can just leave clothing at each place so if we end up anywhere, we'll be good. You can only turn your underwear inside out so many times.
no subject
And he's...confused. Which isn't a win, but isn't a loss, either. It's actually kind of cute, although some of the thoughts she'd spied on from earlier hint at a few reasons why he's so confused. But that's definitely not her business. She has some moral boundaries. Most of the time.
Maybe she should just back off.] Honestly, I'm kind of surprised I wasn't. [She gives an easy shrug] I had better things to do, you know? I went in for soccer and physics, mostly. [She laughs a little] I got kidnapped twice, and they thought I ran away. [Catty that's probably not funny]
Right, so that way no one knows which place you're going to be at. Which... might get awkward in an emergency, but I guess we've got the consoles. [She laughs] You do know you can wash your clothes here, right?
no subject
You got kidnapped. Twice. [ He says this as if he's reading off the daily forecast. Slightly sunny, chance of kidnapping. ] I'd get not bothering with school. [ And for the first time, outside of his caste, he decides to open up. Barely. ] I've only been kidnapped the one time. But, I went back to school. [ Not that he's judging or thinking she should. It's her business and her decision. ]
Even though we can only use our own unless we use the internet cafes. [ Inconvenient! ] Uh, yeah. Of course I do. [ He actually does. But, it's hard not to sound like a teenage girl. ] It was a joke.
no subject
Catty hesitates for a second, before deciding to grab the conversational bull by the horns. So to speak.] Do you - wanna go for a walk, or something? I mean, unless you were waiting for someone, I was just thinking that we've pretty much seen all there is to be seen here. [A beat, and then a smile. She's charming, really.] Literally.
no subject
Sure. Yeah. [ Wait, a pause, and closing his eyes. ] I mean, no [ Opening them eyes ] I'm not waiting for anyone. Scott came with Stiles. I came with me. [ Technically, he came with them but he's giving Scott to Stiles, tonight. It's a weird balance he's feeling out. ] So, yeah. I do. Let's walk. [ An encouraging, if hopeful yet inexperienced smile. ] And yeah. We've seen all there is to see.

[She gives a little gesture for him to follow her and starts to work her way through the crowd. They pop out under an archway, at the edge of the Amphitheater.] Goddess, this place is massive. Do you have anything like this in the world you come from?
no subject
He follows close behind, accidentally hitting someone with his arm. Whatever. Oh, they're outside of the archway now. He thinks about it for the second as they walk. Like this? ] Probably the Colosseum. But, it's in Rome. I've never been. [ But, that's what this reminds him of. ] There's probably stuff in Greece, too. [ This stuff is Grecian, right? Roman? He's not too, too sure. ] Did you know the first Olympics were performed completely naked? [ He overheard Stiles saying it thanks to werewolf hearing. Is that interesting information? ]
no subject
There's definitely[She laughs a little at his comment] You know, I've learn a lot about Ancient Greece over the years, but I somehow managed to miss out on that part. I guess I was more focussed on the myths.
no subject
Got a favorite one?
html, my nemesis
[She smiles, turning her face up to the ceiling.] There's one that you could say is the most important to me. The moon goddess, Selene, fell in love with a mortal shepherd, Endymion. Every night, she'd abandon her chariot as she drove the moon across the sky to go and see him. But because she'd abandoned her duty, Zeus cursed Endymion to an eternal sleep. Selene went back to pulling the moon across the sky, except for a few nights a month when she would visit him in the cave while he slept. Even though they couldn't be together, their love endured. [There's a pause] The Greek gods could be kind of jerks. Always taking it out on the mortals.
she is a fickle creature
He looks up in the direction she peers up at, then back down, just watching her tell the story, listening closely. ] Did he ever wake up? [ The Greek gods sound like alphas. They make the rules. They screw everyone over for worse and for worse. ]
Re: she is a fickle creature
[She looks back over at him] Nope. He's still asleep to this day. The weird part is that she kept having daughters by him, which is probably something you don't want to think about too closely.
no subject
He does make a face. What? ] No. No, I don't. [ A shake of the head. Somehow their love still endured. Interesting. ] Have you been anywhere else? Outside of LA?
no subject
[His expression startles a giggle out of her, though, even as she skips ahead to his question.] Outside of LA? [There's a pause] Well, you remember how I told you I got kidnapped? Let's just say this isn't exactly my first trip to another world.
no subject
Wait, why is she giggling? Is he being funny? Is it a funny question? ] Really. You've had another trip like this. Floating octopus? Whale!
no subject
[Why had she brought up Nefandus? It's not like there are any happy memories for her in that place. Maybe it's the talk of darkness that makes her need to voice some part of it. Even to someone who's still kind of a stranger.] Kangaroo! I lived in its pouch. [She shakes her head] It wasn't really any place. Grey mist. Like another dimension laid over the top of ours, or in between. My friends rescued me, in the end. You can see why I preferred LA.
no subject
Warm. [ But, he knows she's just making a joke. ] Because your friends are in LA. I have... one really good friend. My other two friends died. Stiles is ... becoming a friend? I don't know.
no subject
[That gets a twitch of her lips, but they're treading sad ground here, and it flits away again] I'm sorry about your friends. [It's a simple statement, but there's a depth of understanding there] I've lost a lot of people close to me over the past few years. I only ever had one friend growing up. [There's another pause from her before she just nudges his shoulder with hers, softly] I'll be your friend.
Don'trejectherdon'trejectherdon'trejecther. A part of Catty supposes that she could mess with his head to make him think that he's her friend, but that's kind of...the opposite of friendship. She doesn't want to get friends that way.]
no subject
You didn't do anything. [ You didn't kill them. ] I had zero friends growing up. [ Well, he had his brother but a brother isn't a friend, it's a brother. This conversation IS sad. But, she manages to get him to smile. ] And I'll be yours. If you want. [ Duh, Isaac, it goes both ways. ]
no subject
[She debates continuing with this thread of conversation, before deciding they could both use something a little more upbeat. She doesn't want to think about how typical it is that she got a cute boy alone and started talking about their dead friends.
She gives an exaggerated sigh, and shoots him a knowing look] Did you go around telling people you were an alien princess, too? I mean, kids are all about playing pretend, but it turns out that if you really believe that, they think you're kind of weird. [And Isaac is going to find himself on the receiving end of another one of those bright smiles of hers] I asked, didn't I? I definitely want to.
no subject
He shakes his head, letting know that, no, he did not do that. ] I was just quiet. [ And then he also became a fugitive and people don't befriend fugitives? It's hard not to smile when she gives her own bright smile. So, he does. It comes on his sort of like a surprise as a lets out a laugh. It's like he's taking pain away again. It's a new sensation he doesn't experience a lot. ] You did. Good. Then we're friends. [ What do they do now?
He starts to walk again, preoccupying his mind with putting one foot in front of the other. If they do this maybe it won't be awkward. Is it awkward? Is it the silence that's awkward if it is? ]
no subject
[She wins a smile from him, and there's a small chance that Inner Catty totally fist pumps.] That's a shame, you'd look cute with a tiara.
[She gives a pleased hum of agreement when he decides that they're friends, walking easily alongside him. She doesn't feel too awkward - he'd just admitted that he was quiet, right? But Catty's a chatty kind of person, so she can only deal with it for maybe half a minute before breaking it] Hey, so do you have powers in your version of Earth? Like, some people have superpowers and things, and there's a lizard guy and another guy made out of rocks walking around this place. Anything like that where you're from? [Considering how worried she was about being experimented on by the government in her own world, it's kind of a relief to be in a place where things like that don't have to be a secret.]
