Situation: An ancient festival of an ancient city, all are welcome at the Bacchanal!

Death and destruction cannot curtail the single most important festival celebrated by the denizens of Sinbrilee: The Bacchanal! The ghosts in and about the city have begun to gossip about high fashion and festivities, sending any that inquire to the Amphitheatre -- a grand, circular structure nestled in the west side of the city.

This structure bore the fall of Sinbrilee and the wear of time with dignity, having lost handfuls of archways and one long stretch of wall to crumbling decay. Despite this, it is obvious that the amphitheatre once hosted many a display and every more festivities than the mind can grasp. This was their solace and safety; here is where the people of Sinbrilee came to find the mind's escape from all that threatened them and their great turtle.

Ghosts have been busy throughout the week, clearing paths through debris and hanging great cloth banners of soft blues and greens to disguise the more blatant signs of its decline. Many hundreds of them shimmer and slid through the area, providing for tables upon tables of food, offering drink, and overseeing competition of sport and skill (some even denying death's non-corporeal curse to enter).

Here, well... Here is where the party begins!

[Creep? Around Shayera? Nope. It's not like she's about to go on the attack, but she is wary of Merida at first. But once she asks about her wings (and Shayera sees how polite she is), she scoots over on the couch to make room for her.] Yeah. [She unfolds them just so, to show a little more detail.] Perfect for flying, too.

[myownhand]

[She lights up in pure delight at the display.]

That's amazin'! [Don't mind as she gets up close, but she'll be careful not to touch. Lord know she didn't like when people grabbed at her hair with out her permission] Are you... some kind of faerie?

[First an angel, now a faerie... what will they call her next? But you know, Shayera can't help but take advantage of this opportunity. There's a little smirk on her face for all of a second before her composure is a little more serious.] Yes. But don't touch the wings, or they'll cast a spell and turn you into a bird. And then the boss faerie will get ticked at me.

[... oh WHY THE HELL NOT.] Yeah. Looks like a giant bat, dressed all in black, very dangerous person. Do not get him mad.

...Huh. Doesn't sound like th'witch I know. Granted I didn't try t'get her angry...

[Merida you somehow try to piss off everyone.]

--you have a witch where you're from? [Then again, she knows Zatanna who is... well, technically a magician, but it's as close to a witch as they'll get.]

Aye. There's all sorts of magic went on where I'm from.

[BECAUSE SHE REALLY IS BEGINNING TO THINK SHE IS SOMEHOW THE STRANGEST ONE HERE AMONG THE PEOPLE WITH WINGS, WHO WEAR PANTS, AND HAVE NON-CRAZY HAIR.]

[Shayera simply shrugs.] Not really. First time I've heard it, but it's not strange. You're going to see plenty of that here.

[myownhand]

I still don't understand how most everyone can wear pants.

[This is, by far, the weirdest thing of the night for her. okay?]

So many kinds, too. I haven't heard of any of 'em.

[wingedwarrior]

[Okay, she's assuming Merida is from way back in Earth's history. Maybe she should actually crack open books sometimes and learn about them.] They're a lot easier to move around in, for one thing. Especially in my line of work.

[myownhand]

I move around just fine in my dress. [She smooths the fabric of her dress out with her hands, a little self-conscious but trying not to show it.] Manage t'ride a horse, fight with sword, and shoot a bow and arrow.

[And then she beams with pride.]

Even managed t'climb th'Crone's Tooth and drink from th'Fire Falls.

[And thus, Shayera found a new friend.] You've got experience with weapons?

[Well well well, this girl's just full of surprises.] I have no idea where that is, but I'm guessing that's one impressive feat.

[myownhand]

A'course I have experience with weapons. As my dad says "learnin' t'fight is essential". Though, my mother wasn't too happy that he taught me as much as he has.

[Though she knows her mother is more grateful now. However, she still puffs up with pride at the mention of her climb]

It's th'most amazin' thing. There're these waterfalls, way up on top of these cliffs, and when th'light hits 'em right, they light up! As if they were on fire.

[There had been many climbs up, and learning how to keep her footing, that day still stood out as one of her best memories to date.]

Your dad is a very smart man, let me just say that. You'll have to show me what you can do sometime, I haven't run into too many people skilled with weapons. [There's a handful of people, sure, but nothing like what she's used to.]

And you climbed up there? [The dress part, she'll roll with, because whatever works for someone works.] You're one tough as nails kid.

[myownhand]

Well, I rode past 'em most every time I got t'leave th'castle. They were just sittin' there laughin' at me. What was I supposed t'do? Let 'em win?

[Obviously she's joking about the laughing being literal. But still, the sentiment stands. Where there is a challenge, Merida will not let it sit for long. She's always strived to push herself as far as she can.]

Let me guess. You're the kind of person to pick a fight, aren't you? [Oh, she's going to get along swimmingly with this girl.]

[myownhand]

I don't pick fights, they just happen t'start around me.

[....Which is actually true given how crazy life could get at the castle.]

[wingedwarrior]

And you naturally have no qualms with joining said fights. [Fighting is pretty much how you say "you're a person I like" with these two.]

[myownhand]

A'course not. I can take on anyone!

[And thus their bond was forged in fighting and badassery.]

[wingedwarrior]

[Oh yeah, she likes you, Mer.] And you're confident, too.

[Shayera holds out her hand for a shake.] Shayera Hol. And you are?

[myownhand]

[She takes the hand with a bit more confidence than the first time she had to shake hands.]

[There's a short pause before she asks quietly.]

Erm, does everyone shake hands 'round here? That's reserved more for th'knight folk where I'm from.

[wingedwarrior]

Yeah, it's a normal greeting on Earth. Man, I'm going to have to brush up on my Earth history. [She knows jack shit of its past.]

I should probably mention I was just teasing about my wings. They're harmless, no spells or anything. There is a guy dressed like a bat around here, but he's harmless unless you get him mad. [y e p]

....Wait, so y'aren't even from Earth?
