Situation: An ancient festival of an ancient city, all are welcome at the Bacchanal!

Death and destruction cannot curtail the single most important festival celebrated by the denizens of Sinbrilee: The Bacchanal! The ghosts in and about the city have begun to gossip about high fashion and festivities, sending any that inquire to the Amphitheatre -- a grand, circular structure nestled in the west side of the city.

This structure bore the fall of Sinbrilee and the wear of time with dignity, having lost handfuls of archways and one long stretch of wall to crumbling decay. Despite this, it is obvious that the amphitheatre once hosted many a display and every more festivities than the mind can grasp. This was their solace and safety; here is where the people of Sinbrilee came to find the mind's escape from all that threatened them and their great turtle.

Ghosts have been busy throughout the week, clearing paths through debris and hanging great cloth banners of soft blues and greens to disguise the more blatant signs of its decline. Many hundreds of them shimmer and slid through the area, providing for tables upon tables of food, offering drink, and overseeing competition of sport and skill (some even denying death's non-corporeal curse to enter).

Here, well... Here is where the party begins!

Getting a little corny, aren't you? [Now that is charming. Nonetheless, she follows suit, giving a little curtsy in return.]

The same to you, Captain. You ever need anything, just holler.

[jirk]

You call it corny, I call it chivalry. Maybe we're both a little right. If it's any consolation, you're welcome to wear the armour.

[The tempo of the music shifts, something like a modern tango, and he changes into the new posture fluidly, reaching to set his hands in the appropriate place so he can lead.]

I'll do that. I hear you're pretty handy with a mace.

[Oh, he's all teasing now.]

Oh, no, by all means, I think it would be much funnier to see you wear it. [Her hands move, as well, adjusting herself to get a good feel for the music, and what sort of steps she should take so she doesn't wind up tripping over her own feet from making a bad move.]

"Handy" isn't really the word I would use, but that's one way of putting it.

[jirk]

You just want to see me flat on my face, don't you?

[He has absolutely zero illusions about how graceful he wouldn't be in a set of actual archaic armour.]

No? 'Macey'? 'Smashy'? Come on, throw me a bone.

As a matter of fact, yes. [Watching people be clumsy is funny, and she won't even deny it.]

Deadly comes to mind.

[jirk]

Oh come on, you're telling me you couldn't think of a single way to get me on the ground without armour? A little imagination from the peanut gallery, please.

[Oops he's back to flirting again. You think he'd learn.]

'Deadly' isn't exactly a deterrent, for the record. It just makes things more interesting.

[wingedwarrior]

I know dozens of ways to get you on the ground without even breaking a sweat. [And she would prove it. If not for the large crowd currently surrounding them.]

Maybe I prefer it when things are interesting.

[jirk]

[That just makes him grin that much more broadly.]

That sounds like you and I have an appointment with the wrestling mats.

[-- and then in a slightly speculative tone of voice,]

Clothed. Their customs are fine and all, but there's kids here.

[Meet Jim Kirk's very detached sense of shame. WON'T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE KIDS.]

[Her smirk seems to be growing alongside his grin, so it's all even fun here.] We do now. What date works best for you?

[That gets an amused eyebrow raise from her.] Never pegged you as the type to care about the innocence of children.

[jirk]

Well this whole shindig's on for a week. How about Thursday?

[That means he'll have had a few days to dance to his heart content before a superhero leaves him all bruised up. Oh, he doesn't think Shayera would hurt him, but he knows she won't hold back more than she needs to. The next bit, though, gets a tiny furrow of his brow.]

I do. It's one of those things that's worth protecting.

[wingedwarrior]

Sure. Say around noon? We can grab lunch afterwards. [And give Shayera a little time to think up some proper lesson plans rather than just "beat him up and show him how to do it".

Shayera's eyes widen slightly in surprise. It's more of a surprise than shock, a pleasant kind.] That's pretty sweet of you, protecting something as important as that.

[jirk]

It's a date.

[He winks at her, and then dips her gently, another step of the dance.]

Just don't spread it around, huh?

[wingedwarrior]

Maybe invite Kyle along so he can get a little entertainment. [Yes, she means kicking your ass will be entertainment.

She leans into the dip a little, keeping one foot firm on the ground for support.] If there's one thing I can do, it's keep a secret.

[jirk]

Only if he brings pompoms and a cheerleader outfit.

[Because obviously this is the best plan ever. Thanks Shayera, you are fantastic. Jim grins at her before he pulls her out of the move, and tucks a hand around her waist to pull her in close enough to remain, you know, semi-decent.]

Oh yeah? I like that in a woman.

[wingedwarrior]

Somehow I doubt he'd be willing to do that. [Shayera doesn't even think it a remotely good plan, but hey, they can dream. She raises an eyebrow, then just laughs quietly. Partly because he doesn't know entirely what she means. If only.]

I see.

[jirk]

I bet if we both asked really nice.

[Actually, he has no idea. Maybe that's a question he can pose later. Jim grins at her as the music changes tempo, and he steps back.]

I'm in the market for some refreshments. Wanna come?

[wingedwarrior]

You just really like teasing him, don't you? [She can't blame him, he's just fun to tease. She brushes a loose lock of hair out of her face with a grin and a nod.]

Yeah, a drink sounds good right about now.

[jirk]

[Jim's tone is endlessly fond,]

Yeah. Guess I do.

[He takes her hand, and tugs her off to find a bowl of punch. He is seriously looking for whatever has the highest alcohol content.]

[wingedwarrior]

[She's heard plenty of people speak about Kyle with that tone, herself included.] That makes two of us.

[Shayera, on the other hand, it looking for something a little on the lighter side. Make good choices and all that.] How long have you known him?

[jirk]

[How long has it been? Jim thinks about it, lifts a shoulder in a shrug. Spock would probably have all the specifics, but Jim's never been that precise.]

Four months?

[He scoops a blue drink in a martini glass. Excellent.]

About that. Man, we did not get along at first.

[wingedwarrior]

[She picks up a light red drink for herself, eyebrows raising in surprise.] You're kidding. Is that a thing with him?

[She's thinking back to how he shot arrows at her after talking with her for a few minutes.]

[jirk]

No way! You too?

[TELL HIM EVERYTHING.]

[wingedwarrior]

Yeah! I called him a kid once, and out of the blue he just starts shooting arrows at me. When that didn't work, he started punching me. [She won't say "attempted to" because, well, he got a few hits in.]

[jirk]

That guy, huh?

[But he knows when that would have been. After Connor. So although his tone's light and still teasing, he knows it was justified. After all, Shayera's pretty tough.]

[wingedwarrior]

Honestly. [There is a smile on her face despite it all.] TO be honest, I needed that fight. When I got here, I was so pissed I might've punched some unlucky stranger.
