Event | Sinbrilee | Bacchanal

Characters: Any and all!
Date: August 24 - 30th
Location: Sinbrilee
Situation: An ancient festival of an ancient city, all are welcome at the Bacchanal!
Warnings/Rating: Please label threads as appropriate.

Death and destruction cannot curtail the single most important festival celebrated by the denizens of Sinbrilee: The Bacchanal! The ghosts in and about the city have begun to gossip about high fashion and festivities, sending any that inquire to the Amphitheatre -- a grand, circular structure nestled in the west side of the city.

This structure bore the fall of Sinbrilee and the wear of time with dignity, having lost handfuls of archways and one long stretch of wall to crumbling decay. Despite this, it is obvious that the amphitheatre once hosted many a display and every more festivities than the mind can grasp. This was their solace and safety; here is where the people of Sinbrilee came to find the mind's escape from all that threatened them and their great turtle.

Ghosts have been busy throughout the week, clearing paths through debris and hanging great cloth banners of soft blues and greens to disguise the more blatant signs of its decline. Many hundreds of them shimmer and slid through the area, providing for tables upon tables of food, offering drink, and overseeing competition of sport and skill (some even denying death's non-corporeal curse to enter).

Here, well... Here is where the party begins!

The compliment only makes Shockwave smile wider - reaffirming the excellent choice in holoform. Maybe others would consider it a personality flaw, the deep desire to be remembered for brains and beauty, but it hardly gives Shockwave pause.

"As I've never danced before this night, I can't say that I'd be adverse to something less than perfect." That and Shockwave can't see the point in having set roles for those who lead and those who follow, even though the pattern had been noted during the hour of intense study and all of Shockwave's own attempts at dancing.

"Never danced?" Charles couldn't help arching an eyebrow and he glanced back out at the floor.

Common sense told him it was folly to even make the attempt but perhaps the wine won out over common sense, as he turned and set his cane down across a chair. Turning back, he held his hand out towards her.

"Hello, my name is Charles Xavier. Would you care to dance?" Blue eyes twinkled with humor and mischief as he circled their conversation back around to the beginning, smile wide and warm.

"Shockwave, and I would like nothing more." A returning smile full of good humor and warmth as Shockwave takes his hand. The grip of the holoform is strong, but not unpleasant or otherwise unnatural - the more Shockwave uses it and the longer the exposure to humanity the more accurate it becomes.

As for the having never danced - well it's hard to do when you're Primus knows how many tons of metal and varying heights. But even then - "I think my society would have frowned on it for being overly frivolous." Which, beyond the novelty, is exactly why Shockwave finds it so enjoyable.

She did have a firm grip but the truth was Raven was also quite strong and Charles thought nothing more of it as he lead the way to the floor. Framing himself for a polite waltz that would fit to the music, he smiled into Shockwave's face.

"Frivolous?" Charles exclaimed with a chuckle. "Nonsense. Dancing is one of the cornerstones of social interaction. Quite a lot of interpersonal negotiation is to be had on the dance floor."

So long as it does not prove a problem, Charles will let Shockwave position herself to his lead and then step them off into the dance. Despite his stature, he was capable of giving a good, steady lead while also still holding a conversation. It had been one of the skills his mother had insisted he learn.

"There's the problem - you're assuming they like the idea of 'interpersonal negotiation' when it's done by someone not a member of the privileged classes." Not that Shockwave isn't in one of the highest classes, but at least Shockwave has enough presence of mind to be disturbed by it. "Perhaps we'd even benefit from its introduction."

It's not a problem at all - Shockwave had always been a quick learner, and the patterns of dancing are easily grasped. There's a mechanical feeling to the first few steps until Shockwave gains a better understanding of how the dance is supposed to flow.

Her response earned a raised eyebrow from Charles and then his brows pinched together in a pensive expression.

"I take it that you are not from Earth or a derivative there of?" Charles had gotten used to the idea of different points of time on Earth, even different variations of events that gave others a history that was different than his own. But the telepath was still wrapping his head around the idea of species from entirely different parts of the universe all together.

Particularly when those species looked quite human.

A shake of Shockwave's head at his question. "My planet is called Cybertron, and it orbits Shaula." The concept of a multiverse was one that intrigued Shockwave as well, and the possibilities that came with it. "If it exists in your universe, you should be able to see our sun from Earth." Shockwave's tone was fond, almost reverent, when speaking of Cybertron. There wasn't anything more important that the well-being of their home, and the idea that it was gone - whatever that meant - still hadn't managed to sink in just yet. It would later, and then Shockwave's anger would bubble to the surface.

But for now, Shockwave was content to dance and talk with others - pushing the matter of Cybertron and the inescapable future out of mind.
