Event | Sinbrilee | Bacchanal

Characters: Any and all!
Date: August 24 - 30th
Location: Sinbrilee
Situation: An ancient festival of an ancient city, all are welcome at the Bacchanal!
Warnings/Rating: Please label threads as appropriate.

Death and destruction cannot curtail the single most important festival celebrated by the denizens of Sinbrilee: The Bacchanal! The ghosts in and about the city have begun to gossip about high fashion and festivities, sending any that inquire to the Amphitheatre -- a grand, circular structure nestled in the west side of the city.

This structure bore the fall of Sinbrilee and the wear of time with dignity, having lost handfuls of archways and one long stretch of wall to crumbling decay. Despite this, it is obvious that the amphitheatre once hosted many a display and every more festivities than the mind can grasp. This was their solace and safety; here is where the people of Sinbrilee came to find the mind's escape from all that threatened them and their great turtle.

Ghosts have been busy throughout the week, clearing paths through debris and hanging great cloth banners of soft blues and greens to disguise the more blatant signs of its decline. Many hundreds of them shimmer and slid through the area, providing for tables upon tables of food, offering drink, and overseeing competition of sport and skill (some even denying death's non-corporeal curse to enter).

Here, well... Here is where the party begins!

Really?

[he looked at Clark again-- the idea of vegetarianism isn't exactly completely foreign to him. But he wasn't used to seeing vegetarians look, well, like Clark Kent did. So much for assumptions, right?]

I wouldn't have guessed.
andaway: (I'll track you down girl)

[Clark has to let out a laugh at that. Now that's a new one, but he guesses most people think a push over like Clark Kent being a vegan makes sense. And Superman eating something that had been sentient would be the surprising thing.]

I'll choose to take that as a compliment. I'm Clark by the way, Clark Kent.
browbeater: Ooooooh it's too real. (Acting has a very broad definition.)

I'm Mako. Nice to meet you, Clark.

[He seemed nice enough, at least... And it wasn't like Mako had been such a stellar, outgoing person in his time on the Turtle. Who knows, maybe that was more common than he thought.]

How long have you been here?

[well... idle chatting didn't hurt either]

Nice to meet you too, Mako.

[A little nod, letting the kid be the one to speak first. He seems nice enough, if a bit awkward- and Clark knows enough about awkward to guess pushing for a conversation is a bad idea.

At the question he stops to think.
] I... think I have been here for around a year? [He frowns] No, more than a year. It really doesn't seem so long, I guess it helps having my wife in here.
browbeater: (Eh who?)

A... year.

[It's not beyond the realm of possibility but did he really want to sacrifice a year here? And the answer was almost certainly 'no.' He hadn't made the connections there that he had in Republic City, and of course, even if time was stopped there, a year without worrying about his brother in some way, shape, or fashion, was likely to drive him crazy.]

That is a very long time, even if it doesn't feel like it.

[After all, he'd only lived 18 of them! Going on 19!]
andaway: (If you go a million miles away)

[SO YOUNGGGG. Clark does give him a sheepish grin in understanding as he reaches to clap his shoulder gently. It's just a gesture of comfort, that's what you get for talking to Kansas people Mako.]

It does get better once you make friends in this place. Everyone's really nice, they will help you out.
