Event | Sinbrilee | Bacchanal
Characters: Any and all!
Date: August 24 - 30th
Location: Sinbrilee
Situation: An ancient festival of an ancient city, all are welcome at the Bacchanal!
Warnings/Rating: Please label threads as appropriate.
Death and destruction cannot curtail the single most important festival celebrated by the denizens of Sinbrilee: The Bacchanal! The ghosts in and about the city have begun to gossip about high fashion and festivities, sending any that inquire to the Amphitheatre -- a grand, circular structure nestled in the west side of the city.
This structure bore the fall of Sinbrilee and the wear of time with dignity, having lost handfuls of archways and one long stretch of wall to crumbling decay. Despite this, it is obvious that the amphitheatre once hosted many a display and every more festivities than the mind can grasp. This was their solace and safety; here is where the people of Sinbrilee came to find the mind's escape from all that threatened them and their great turtle.
Ghosts have been busy throughout the week, clearing paths through debris and hanging great cloth banners of soft blues and greens to disguise the more blatant signs of its decline. Many hundreds of them shimmer and slid through the area, providing for tables upon tables of food, offering drink, and overseeing competition of sport and skill (some even denying death's non-corporeal curse to enter).
Here, well... Here is where the party begins!

dancing!
And now apparently it was going to include being dragged out onto the dance floor.]
I-- [There's an abrupt halt in sound as Scott tries desperately to come up with an answer that isn't too terribly rude. Unfortunately, he doesn't succeed at all.] No?
[That's a rude answer and he knows it's a rude answer but he is so bewildered by the idea of ballroom dancing in his uniform in public (but mostly just ballroom dancing) that he literally has no idea how to react other than try and plant his feet more firmly against the ground.]
no subject
Come ooon, Scott, it'll be fun, I promise.
[She isn't offended by the rude answer because well, she knows she took him by surprise. But it will take just a little bit of convincing to get him on board with the idea, right? Besides, she did not dress up just to sit in the corner all night.]
no subject
I don't--you know what's fun? Sitting in front of a TV watching bad reality TV shows. Spending time with a small group of friends. Not looking like an idiot in public, and I can say that from personal experience.
[His voice gets higher and little more frantic the closer they get to the actual dance floor. He already see the hole opening up and ready to swallow him whole.]
Look, I--I don't even know how to dance. Not fancy dance.
no subject
Then we don't have to fancy dance. You won't look like an idiot, but if you think you are, then I will dance like a bigger idiot and it won't matter because we'll be having fun, okay? Promise.
[She grins.]
Besides, it's not like we even know half of these people, right? And the ghosts aren't going to care either. There's music and there's carpets and there's fun to be had so just dance with me for the joy of it, okay?
no subject
It's touching and makes him feel like a huge jerk for even refusing in the first place.]
The newspapers think I always look like an idiot but I try not to take their word for it.
[The Daily Bugle has a twisted sense of humor anyway. Scott relents though, letting her pull him towards the dance floor with a smile that's two parts rueful and one part very grateful.]
But. If we're not fancy dancing, what kind of dancing are we doing?
no subject
Whatever kind of dancing you want. I mean just...whatever is fun, okay?
[And pulling back, letting go, she spins on the balls of her feet and grins.]
no subject
Well. He's the one that dug himself into this hole, he can dig himself out.]
The only kind of dancing I know is really bad 80's dancing and I'm pretty sure you don't want to see that. [There's a smile, even if it's more self-deprecating than fully amused.] How about you teach me some of your dance moves from home, wherever that is?
no subject
After you show me this really bad 80's dancing, maybe. I don't think I've ever seen dancing from other worlds, good or bed. Come on, show me something?
[Pretty please with a cherry on top?]
no subject
Dying and then being brought back to life does not do great things for one's agility and flexibility.]
Did you miss the part where I said it was really bad? [Because seriously.] Because it's really bad. Most people don't want to see things that are really bad. I know I wouldn't want to see something that was really bad.
[Unless he got to laugh at it, but that's precisely why he doesn't want to do this.]
no subject
[Tugging at his hand, she gives him a reprieve by pulling him into a dance that has no rules, no particular order of steps that must be followed, but is nonetheless a dance. She moves her arms as her feet pull them around the dance floor, hips swaying with the music, and she does her best to guide him into spinning her.
One thing she loves best is dancing. There's movement, rhythm, and to dance with another is even better.]
