Event | Sinbrilee | Bacchanal

Characters: Any and all!
Date: August 24 - 30th
Location: Sinbrilee
Situation: An ancient festival of an ancient city, all are welcome at the Bacchanal!
Warnings/Rating: Please label threads as appropriate.

Death and destruction cannot curtail the single most important festival celebrated by the denizens of Sinbrilee: The Bacchanal! The ghosts in and about the city have begun to gossip about high fashion and festivities, sending any that inquire to the Amphitheatre -- a grand, circular structure nestled in the west side of the city.

This structure bore the fall of Sinbrilee and the wear of time with dignity, having lost handfuls of archways and one long stretch of wall to crumbling decay. Despite this, it is obvious that the amphitheatre once hosted many a display and every more festivities than the mind can grasp. This was their solace and safety; here is where the people of Sinbrilee came to find the mind's escape from all that threatened them and their great turtle.

Ghosts have been busy throughout the week, clearing paths through debris and hanging great cloth banners of soft blues and greens to disguise the more blatant signs of its decline. Many hundreds of them shimmer and slid through the area, providing for tables upon tables of food, offering drink, and overseeing competition of sport and skill (some even denying death's non-corporeal curse to enter).

Here, well... Here is where the party begins!

The differences are weird but... [She trails off for a moment, kind of shrugs.] It's a nice reminder of home, in a lot of ways. [A place she hasn't been for twelve months, and a place she's not sure she'll ever see again.]

Tell me about it. I haven't played capture the flag like we do at Camp in over a year. I mean, I haven't stopped training being here, but the atmosphere isn't the same.

Maybe we should plan something like it? [He shrugs] Like, not only training but... fun and games like the ones we had at camp? It won't be the same but we can try.

[Her face brightens a bit.] It's be a little small, with those of us left, but it's not a bad idea. A smaller, stealthier version is doable. It wouldn't even be that hard to find a substitute flag.

And there's a lot of space on the turtle we could use for that anyway. Maybe in the mountains, or near the head...[He shrugs] I don't know, just to make this whole thing less frustrating in the long run.

Maybe we could ask others to join?

[She makes a thoughtful noise.] So long as they know how to defend themselves, I don't see why we couldn't. The head would be difficult though - it takes a lot of concentration and willpower to wield a weapon up there. [Speaking from experience, yep.]

Fair enough. As long as it isn't on the fire district... well [he shrugs] I don't really mind where, I just want to have some fun the camp-way.

Somewhere outside the city itself is probably best. We're bound to, well, uh - cause a little collateral damage, with how long it's been since any of us have done anything like this.

[Frank makes a bit of a face at that.] I wouldn't want to hurt Asti just because we were bored and wanted to play games... but we should be able to keep the mass destruction at bay?

I think we'd be better at avoiding damage that wasn't structural. Dryads and nymphs tend to be pretty protective of nature, so we try limiting most damage to each other by default. I dunno how you guys do it, but our games are usually in the woods and away from civilization anyway.

We... uh. We're always inside of camp, so we're surrounded by nature but not really in nature? Then again we had places ready for the war games and such so no buildings were really in danger.

I mean, can you imagine Terminus's reaction?

Camp Half-Blood's right off the Long Island Sound. It's pretty much in the middle of nowhere. There's no towns or anything, like New Rome. It's just... a camp.

[She snorts, rolling her eyes.] Yeah, I can definitely picture that.
