Event | Sinbrilee | Bacchanal
Characters: Any and all!
Date: August 24 - 30th
Location: Sinbrilee
Situation: An ancient festival of an ancient city, all are welcome at the Bacchanal!
Warnings/Rating: Please label threads as appropriate.
Death and destruction cannot curtail the single most important festival celebrated by the denizens of Sinbrilee: The Bacchanal! The ghosts in and about the city have begun to gossip about high fashion and festivities, sending any that inquire to the Amphitheatre -- a grand, circular structure nestled in the west side of the city.
This structure bore the fall of Sinbrilee and the wear of time with dignity, having lost handfuls of archways and one long stretch of wall to crumbling decay. Despite this, it is obvious that the amphitheatre once hosted many a display and every more festivities than the mind can grasp. This was their solace and safety; here is where the people of Sinbrilee came to find the mind's escape from all that threatened them and their great turtle.
Ghosts have been busy throughout the week, clearing paths through debris and hanging great cloth banners of soft blues and greens to disguise the more blatant signs of its decline. Many hundreds of them shimmer and slid through the area, providing for tables upon tables of food, offering drink, and overseeing competition of sport and skill (some even denying death's non-corporeal curse to enter).
Here, well... Here is where the party begins!

[Annabeth looks around a little wistfully.] Some parts of home. Camp Half-Blood and Mount Olympus have architecture like this, but most of the world is modernized, maybe a little like the Metal Sector. All of this here is antique, technically, by my world's standards.
no subject
[Giving the architecture a closer look, she can't help but appreciate its aesthetic. It's beautiful, stately in ways that don't exist in Askoupur.]
And it's beautiful. I like it better than some of what I've seen in the Metal sector. It's a shame there isn't something more like this in Keeliai.
no subject
I definitely like it better. Almost everything I design is classically influenced - that's what the style as a whole is referred to. But I guess it's kind of a mix, too, depending on what I want or what it's needed for. It might be possible to bring some designs like this into Keeliai, especially at the rate the city needs to fix or create infrastructure.
[You got her started, Bryn. Architecture.]
no subject
I wonder who you'd speak to about such things. Maybe you could see to leaving your mark on this city. [She taps her chin thoughtfully.] Certainly you'll have the option to do so with my new place. Now that we've found the building.
[She pauses a beat.]
I did tell you that, didn't I?
no subject
[A nod.] You did, yeah! I'll have to come check it out again, see what we can do.
no subject
[Shrugging, she looks back to her golem and smiles.]
I think maybe we ought to go in, see what they have set up around here. Want to come with or are you going to stay out here a while longer?
no subject
No, I should - probably go back in, too. There's a lot more I want to see inside. [Thinking mostly of the architecture tbh. And maybe Percy.]
no subject
[She grins.]
My friend here could carry you after all. Make a bit of an entrance yourself?
no subject
[Though she doesn't sound all that concerned. She's been thrown from far worse and fallen far further.]
no subject
[Looking over to her golem, she strokes a hand over its shoulder again, draws her fingers under its chin affectionately, and her next words are to the creature.]
What do you think, hm? Could you give my good friend a ride?
[The golem, pleased by the affection, purrs louder than before, seeming entirely agreeable to the arrangement.]
no subject
no subject
Grinning, she holds out a hand.]
Feel free to brace a foot on its shoulder if it's easier. I'll help pull you up the rest of the way.
no subject
Not the most difficult thing I've had to climb, if I'm honest.
no subject
[Which she is far more used to. Her extended family on her mother's side has several, actually, living as close to the outer border of Kouhyar as they do.]
What is the most difficult thing you've had to climb if not onto a beast? Some sort of obstacle course for training?
no subject
Other... beasts? [Thoughtful noise.] There's a lava wall back at camp, but almost ten years of practice don't make it as difficult as it was at the start. Rope ladders in midair are kind of annoying. But I guess there was this cliffside once, kind of steep, about two hundred feet.
no subject
Two-hundred foot cliff doesn't sound like fun--Bryn looks over at Annabeth incredulously.]--I'm sorry did you say a lava wall?
no subject
no subject
[Assuming she wouldn't be killed outright, of course.]
So what do you think of my friend here? Think you'd be up for going for a run sometime?
no subject
[!!!] Definitely. Preferably in pants, though. [Because she's pretty fascinated by it.]
no subject
[She grins.]
I think it likes to play, to be honest, so maybe we could teach it a few tricks. Train it.
no subject
[She grins a bit.] I've got a little experience with a giant hellhound, for giant pet tricks. Maybe it could even play with Mrs. O'Leary sometime. [It's a stone golem. It definitely seems strong enough to handle that.]
no subject
[The name doesn't ring a bell, but when speaking of the kedan, Bryn sounds pleased, and a little smug. Proud.]
The kitty turns heads wherever he goes, but the children love him. Fiercely protective, however. Haven't had a single incident with the gangs since I started taking my friend here with me.
no subject
[Her grin turns into a smile, and she lets out a short chuckle.] He definitely seems friendly enough. What a good ward.
no subject
[Bryn and Annabeth continue chatting about the pair of animals as Bryn's golem carries them into the party.]
