Situation: Lois has Kryptonian powers, she's not sure whose. (Spoiler: Jor-El's.) But her husband's a teenager. She has some issues.

Here's a secret: Kyle used to play 'Superman' when he was a kid, and all he's missing currently is a makeshift cape. This is easily rectified - and once he can focus enough to zip around more than just the Fire Sector, he's flying around Wood, chasing insects, red cape and loose blue pyjamas flapping in the wind behind him. The colour scheme clashes horribly with his ring, but he doesn't seem that bothered.

It's then that he runs into Lois, climbing a tree.

'Hi,' he says, brightly, stopping in mid-air.

Lois just stares for a minute.

It hits her, every so often, that some of the current heroes were really young when Clark made his debut. And that he made quite an impression in those early days--okay, no, she'll never forget that. Still, her own impression was very different, and it's easy that he had just as much of an impact on kids then as on the ones who have grown up with him in the skies.

"Hey, Kyle."

This is disturbing.

Growing up when the world's greatest heroes were making an impact and then being one of them is something he never truly got over. As an adult, he'd be far more reserved and respectful about the fact that he walks besides legends, but as a child, none of those inhibitions are there. Or, at least, he's a lot less conscious of them.

'... Ms. Lane? Lois Lane?'

He looks at her excitedly. 'This is so cool!'

Children.

Even when they were superheroes who saved the universe many times over... they still gave her headaches. (And if some of that is a momentary pang for her son, well, she can probably be excused.) As it is, she prays briefly for patience. Then again, hearing it called cool does wonders for her ego.

"Yes," she says with amusement. "We were talking on the network not that long ago."

...Y'know, when she was making out with her husband.

He flies around her excitedly, only hearing half of what she's saying. 'My ma read your articles! She's gonna be so jealous I met you!'

The child hasn't registered what the adult knows - that Moira Rayner is dead - because it was the child in him that couldn't let go, and insisted on bringing her back.

Luckily for all concerned, Lois knows none of that trauma. As far as she's aware, things with his mom are pretty good. What's more, he wouldn't remember this place to tell her about later, so...

"I'm glad she liked them," she said with a grin. "Not everyone's smart enough to."

Or too evil.

Nodding, he circles around her a few more times. He hadn't been quite that interested in the articles themselves, usually only the headlines, and the accompanying comic books. 'Are you learning to fly, or climbing trees? Both?'

She watches him circle with a mildly bemused expression. Tiny Green Lanterns are a kind of terrifying thought. "Climbing trees at the moment, mostly. I never used to be able to climb too high, but invulnerability's pretty handy."

Lois has way too much fun with Kryptonian powers sometimes.

Flying was much better than climbing in his book and he squints at her, as if he can gauge the "lie" she's telling. Circling around her constantly isn't making him dizzy, in fact, he just feels better and lighter. All that restless energy is getting an outlet, finally.

'Wanna race?'

Well then. She eyes him for a moment, debating the wisdom of it... but honestly, she's enjoying this rare chance to play around with her husband's toolkit not to take a little advantage of it. So she grins.

"I'll break Clark's speed record." No she won't. But still.

'On the count of three!'

Except he's off at three, which is hardly fair.
