Kyle Rayner;
But it was a good kind of strange.
However, they had another common ground aside from that. They both belonged to Jim Kirk in a sense. For Korra, she could only assume it was what having a brother would be like.
While Korra didn’t get any in depth details from Jim, she did respect his want for privacy in regards to his relationship with Kyle and only liked to casually tease either of them if the mood was light enough.
Those were thoughts that Korra had at the back of her mind constantly, especially now that Aang was staying at the clinic (hospital?). As she was going about and finishing up her healing sessions for the evening, Korra turned off the lights in the rooms that were no longer being used.
It wasn’t often she had time to stay late, but she could handle most of the first floor. So far she hadn’t been allowed to go up to the second or third floors of the clinic. Now that Aang was able to move about a little more freely on his own, she didn’t have to look after him as often.
Finding herself in the break room, Korra grabbed one of the snack bags made for the volunteers and eyed the Sigma berry she pulled out before shrugging and popping into her mouth.
"Not bad." She said to no one in particular, or at least she thought she did. She had been so tired from being there for half the day that she didn’t even notice Kyle was in there as well until a moment later.
"You pretty much live here, don’t you?"

He wasn't used to teasing her - even now he's still wary, but becoming less so as time goes on. It's more for Jim's sake than any personal reason Kyle may have. He knows she needs to get better and he's willing to do what he sees necessary, but Jim and Dinah are already managing that just fine. He sees no reason to interfere, and thus, he remains on the periphery.

Kicking off her boots and setting them to the side of the couch, Korra plopped onto the couch on her back and rested her head on the arm of it. Folding her legs so they weren’t invading Kyle’s space, she continued digging through the bag and pulled out a rope of sugar free candy.
"What are you drawing?" She angled her head to try and see the sketchbook. No, she had no idea what her feet smell like; just that it was a nice relief to not be wearing her boots after spending hours in them.
no subject
'Nothing yet,' he turns the blank page towards her, 'Just got here.'
Watching her eat the candy is making him hungry. He idly ponders getting something to eat on the way home.
no subject
"You mean you’re finally taking a break." Said between chomps of the rope candy, and while it’s dangling from he mouth; she fetched out the small juice box. "So have you always drawn or is this something new?"
Ripping off the straw from the side, she plunged it into the box, finishing off her candy like it was a spaghetti noodle.
no subject
He thinks I can use it to heal, but I'm not good and sighs inwardly.
Watching her chew, oddly fascinated, he says, 'I've always drawn.' It was the only thing he felt he was really good at.
no subject
"Can you draw something if someone describes it to you, or are you more the type that just draws whatever comes across your mind?" Asked simply before sipping from the straw of her juice box. The first day she was there, he asked her to paint or sculpt and she was dumbfounded at having to do so without bending. Now she was wondering whether he was asking to see if he had any artistic connection with her.
no subject
'A mix of both,' he answers. 'I used to work for hire, which meant I'd draw what people requested, but sometimes I get bored of that and just do my own stuff.'
Above all, he knew how to make something to someone else's specifications, while leaving room for his own creativity. It was one reason he'd taken so well to being a Lantern: rules were there, and he could bend or break them.
no subject
"Dhaw Ddim" she said without losing a single crumb.

"I said ‘Draw Jim.’" Sipping from her juice box, food still in mouth, she added "And eat something before your stomach starts growling."
He hadn’t been there that long and the breakroom was completely clean and the trash bins had been emptied. Meaning he either ate somewhere else or didn’t eat at all.
From what she could gather of Kyle’s dedication to usually being a stick-in-the-mud, Korra was going with the latter.

His train of thought derails at her order (Was it? It felt like one) and he gives her a reproachful look. 'You're not my real mom,' he says, grumpily, making it clear he's just teasing, and offering a self-deprecating smile. 'Don't tell me what to do.'
no subject
She's so serious that she has to stuff the other half of her sandwich in her mouth to keep from smiling.

A rhythmical thumping sound can be heard that gradually gets louder and eventually covers up the sound of her slurping the last of her juice.
In her head, she began counting down until slobbery Naga kisses would find Kyle's face.
no subject
'Okay,' he says, between a few chuckles, 'First? Not everything I say is a challenge. That was a joke.'
no subject
"And so's this" she said wryly before she finally sat up. "That's enough Naga, let him breath." At that, the giant animal sat down and sat up to he full height; tail wagging.
"But food isn't. Take it from the girl who's tribe mainly relies on catching their food."
no subject
'All right,' he says, 'I'll eat when I'm done. Think you can recommend a good noodle shop?'
no subject
"Oh, there’s plenty of good ones. But if you want the best of the best, then you’ll have to go to the Water Sector. You can’t beat hand made noodles, and it’s really affordable." That one shop was one Korra frequented and bought some home to use in her own meals.
"Art first though." After a few moments of her looking at the blank sketch pad, she abruptly began laughing and nudged Naga’s face away with her feet so the polar bear dog would stop licking them. Rubbing her feet dry on the animal’s fur, she propped them onto her back and leaned into the couch.
All that came to her mind when she thought of art was the statues of some members of the first Team Avatar that were around the city.
"Self-portrait?"
no subject
Staring at the blank sketch pad, he shrugs. Why not? He hadn't done a self-portrait in a while, and while the request was pushy enough to make him irritable, he's more concerned about a potential artist's block.
He starts scribbling, and the self-portrait takes shape. He went for stylised, so it could be finished faster, but he never sacrifices accuracy.
no subject
"You don’t have dimples." She criticized jokingly.
no subject
'Should I?'
no subject
Putting her hands up behind her head, Korra looked up at the ceiling. "Who cleans this place anyway?" Not once did she see any kind of janitor doing maintenance, but there were never cobwebs or dust.
no subject
'I do,' he says, in answer. 'I can just think the place clean. Easier and faster than hiring somebody to do it.' A pause. 'Good trait for a man to have,' he adds, jokingly. 'Helping around the house.'
no subject
The floor’s way too hard and there was a furry, fluffy white friend to be on, so Korra stood up and just climbed onto Naga’s back. Once there she laid on her stomach, her feet and back easing after the long day she had.
"Jack told me you posted on the network after- all that." She put her arms around Naga’s neck and the animal gave an appreciative grunt. That was something she kept forgetting about, mostly on purpose, but now it seemed a lot more important.
So is stealing a glimpse at the drawing.
