The game would have to hold for a second.
"Wait, that happened a long time ago. So, he's a little kid too, like Toph?" He shifted the ball to where it was trapped between his arm and his side for the moment.

Giving a pause, she chewed the inside of her cheek. “I don’t think it’s a good idea to hit him with all that while he’s recovering. Lin doesn’t either.” For some reason she needed to add that Lin backing that up was worth mentioning.
“He’s going to need healing sessions for a while.” It was all explanatory; stiff in the way a desensitized nurse was able to explain a worst case scenario.
no subject
He didn't think Korra would do it, but he knew she could forget to not rely on other elements in the heat of moment. He'd seen it himself in the pro-bending arena.
Though, what else he could say was limited. "So, you'll be spending a lot of time with him, huh..."
no subject
“I’ll tell him before they clear him to go live in his suite. He’d find out pretty fast thanks to the network.” Small favors that the clinic only had one console and Kyle restricted it to staff only. “He’s just, not anything I was expecting; you know?”
no subject
"It'll be fine, though," he said by way of comfort. He didn't want Korra to over think all the things that could go wrong-- which was a strange thought coming from Mako of all things, but it was there.
He passed the ball to her. "It's weird, but I don't think it's the weirdest thing that's happened since we've gotten here."
no subject
"I guess it's not." They were on top of a giant, powerful turtle with people from different universes and were enlisted to fight an unspeakable evil that could possibly destroy everything.
And she was worried about her personal Avatar issues with a twelve year old boy.
The way Mako put it made her give a dry laugh. "Okay, but if any other Avatars start showing up; I'm officially going to flip out." She began dribbling the ball with one hand and adjusted her cap to block out the sunlight.
"Remember the score?" she asked with a smile in her voice.
no subject
He relaxed a little more himself, the game was challenging and while it was hard at first, he was starting to pick up the rules, even if she was still beating him.
But it was coming more naturally.
"And I haven't forgotten it. Why, did you?" he counter teased.
no subject
"Thanks." she said as she began to dribble the ball from one hand to the other now. "Five to eight, my favor. Getting spoiled by the scorekeeper back home, Team Captain?" asked with amusement as she started to show off by bouncing the ball between her legs in a pattern.

He was catching on.
And they were both pretty competitive. He'd never played basketball before, but he could already tell this was going to be a hell of a match before it was over.
no subject
As they played, she actually worked up a sweat in playing against him. All three matches since it was best two out of three. It was the physical push, the competition she'd been wanting.
"Glad you haven't lost your Fire Ferret spirit." she said between breaths as she bent over to pick up both bottles of water. They were warm now, but when she touched them and small layer of frost crawled along the outside. She was almost tempted to just pour it on her face to get rid of the sweat.
no subject
He'd worked up quite a sweat himself, if the patches on his shirt were to be believed, and that water she was holding was looking really, really good right then. Besides the fact that she was looking really, really good. But she always did.
"Just because we've been off for at least a month doesn't mean I've forgotten how to compete," he responded back to her.
He had the ball, still, lest it get forgotten or something.
no subject
“A month is still a month.” She chided as she took off the cap to her bottle. “Practice every day, remember?” Of course she would try to say that and get away with it, even after taking time off to join Tarrlok’s task force in the beginning.
A mock toast before she raised the water and drank glorious mouthfuls of what now felt like precious water her body craved.
no subject
The water was cold, and when he took a sip, he knew it was exactly what he was craving. He felt better after the first gulp, soon he wasn't going to have much left in the way of water.
"That wasn't bad, though. We'll have to have a rematch, soon," he commented idly, before leaning down to kiss her.
no subject
“We can play anytime.” She answered back smoothly as she rose up onto the balls of her feet. She tilted her head to place her lips on his, her eyes half-lidded. At first they were matched, until she glided them downward and captured his bottom lip between hers. A soft, playful giggle escaped her throat and she closed her eyes.
She didn’t even know that she was holding her breath. That was hard to focus on when stomach was squirming around.
no subject
And it wasn't like he wasn't in a good mood himself. This park was about to lose a lot of the negative connotations that it had, if they kept like this.
Which, he didn't have any intention of stopping for then. Instead, he just pulled her closer.
no subject
Within that movement her parted lips were back on his and she traced his upper lip with her tongue, still cool from the water. That squirming in her stomach looped around itself and forced her cheeks to flush further. Both of her her hands found the back of his neck as she continued kissing.
no subject
"Hey..." He grinned, despite the nagging voice. "Let's go somewhere else, alright?"
no subject
“Sure.” She said with a sated smile. Taking off her cap, she finished the rest of her water bottle and snagged the basketball out of his hand so she they could hold hands. This park definitely had it’s turnaround for her, but last time she had gone back home alone.
“Your suite, I don’t get to see it that much.”
no subject
Also, he still had those clothes from the time he was a girl. They could both get showered up there, no problem.
"C'mon, you."
