“Yeah, it helps out every now and then.” She only grinned and shot out a focused blast of air that sent a kedan attempting an aerial assault flailing back, his sword dropping to the ground.
“Got everything together?” she asked after seeing the blow to his shoulder, a quick stomp and slide of her leg sent a chunk of earth flying straight into the skull of the offending Choi member. Fire had been her best offensive weapon, it stemmed the flow of on comers and the burns slowed them down if not stopping them entirely.
slowest of slow
"With you around as my backup? That's not even a concern."
The realization that there's a more powerful player around is slowly hitting Choi's people. While Choi's people seem to be slowly pulling back, Leng's seem to have flanked Choi's people at areas that Korra and Jason aren't hitting. Jason can't see to clearly if this is true or not, but there's not a single Leng gangbanger around them. That's enough for him to confirm that Leng realize his intent.
He stops fighting and looks back at Leng's direction. Leng gives him a nod. Allegiance confirmed. He's done what he needed to here. And Choi's done barking orders and decided to join the field, only to carry his men out of harm's way.
A good guy, too bad.
"Handle things here, K." The short nickname slips out casually. He starts running, chasing after Choi and the group he has around him.
nah, is good
"No problem, J." Allowing herself a moment to let out a silent laugh at their casual banter in the middle of a serious fight left her open. A kedan who shapeshifted into a giant type of boar, rammed her from the side and sent her tumbling across the ground.
Her audible grunts and groans on each bump turned into an angry yell as came to stop and slammed her hand flat onto the ground. Turning her wrist caused saw-toothed wave of blunt stalagmites to crop out from the ground, speedily making its way to the offending kedan. Others that got caught in it had bones broken and/or were sent flying upward into the sky.
By the time it reached the boar like kedan, Korra had regained her footing and gave a front kick that brought her leg next to her head. The six, rugged chunks of earth rose out and slammed into him, forcing him into a group of Choi’s men. With that done and them mostly staggered, clean up was easy.
It took some time, but between her bending and the martial arts she had been taught by Dinah, Korra looked for Joe. Not seeing him right away, she decided to make use of the vantage point they had earlier to see if she could spot him from there. Bending an air spout brought her up and she landed gracefully back down.
"Hey, you work fast." She said with a smirk when she found out she wasn’t alone up there. Small cuts and dirt were pretty much all over her, but she was actually pretty happy that they avoided that mess getting into the residential area. A lot easier made by the fact that they were really only fighting one gang.

He chased Choi down to an alley. There are three escape paths for Choi. But Choi won't do it. Jason just crippled all his lackeys, his brothers in arms. As expected, Choi turned and faced him. Hard lines on an otherwise smooth face. Jason's just like his mask. Neutral even as his flame knife ends it as quick as he can, as quietly as he can.
When Korra regroups with him, Jason has his helmet off. He's sitting down and leaning back on a hand, putting his weight on one side. He looks exhausted but satisfied. He's grinning at Korra for a job well done. To both of them. Choi's blood is on his shoulder, too dark to be fresh.
"You're not so bad yourself, your Highness. So what do I owe you for covering my sorry ass?" He teases, looking back at the contained chaos below.

"Aside from just calling me Korra? There’s al-" Whatever she was about say got cut short the moment her eyes fell on his shoulder. Even though she asked earlier how he was, he obviously didn’t give her an honest answer.
Not that she had any grounds to blame him, especially since it’s something she would have done in that situation.
"You can start by letting me fix that." Personal space isn’t too much of a thing for Korra, at least when she’s the one doing the invading, and she went to lift the jacket. Try and see just what he’s dealing with underneath.
no subject
"Hey. Take it easy, Korra."
He flirts casually, hoping to dismiss the issue with a sharp change on topic. He feigns the shock and the look of one having his personal space violated. "I'm easy but not that easy. At least buy me a cheap drink and take me to a nice hotel before you try to take my clothes off."
no subject
"Let me see if there’s any bruises and you can have all the drinks you want at the Brazen Turtle." She gave a quick wink that could easily be missed. "No hotel, I’m kind of attached to my boyfriend."
With that, she set her foot on the ledge next to Joe and brought her fingers to her lip to let out a very loud whistle.
no subject
"How do I get you kind of unattached?"
He doesn't get another word in before the whistle cuts him off. And that he wasn't expecting. He turns and looks around, his body holding a half-tense, ready-to-go mode. A trap? No, she doesn't seem the type.

A loud bark got her attention and a block away where Korra had left her, Naga came barreling down until she was underneath them. A quick movement of hands and wrists waterbended the waterskin (the water in it really) from the saddlebags up to Korra, making a sloshing sound when grabbed it.
"Take off your jacket and your shirt." She demanded evenly enough, though she did avert her eyes from his.
no subject
"If that's what you want for helping me out. I'm not complaining. I just think you're losing out here. I'm good with a lot of other things. But... One strip show coming up."
Jason pries his jacket off and eases his arm out of his shirt. The bruise on his shouldn't is in varying degrees of green, yellow and purple. And it's not the only bruise. Despite having a new body, there are scars on the meat of his shoulder, faint but still there, marking him as a viligante.
no subject
But her face dropped and she let out a low whistle when she saw the levels of bruising he had. Eyes darted from one to the next, to the next, and then on the faded scars. That wasn’t she wasn’t expecting, not at all. And going by how he had been treating the whole thing, Korra’s sure he wouldn’t go to the clinic. The half filled waterskin suddenly felt a lot smaller.
"This may not be enough. Care for a tour of the Metal Sector?" It’s where her suite is and if Joe could encrypt messages, then he easily noticed that’s where her network post had been.
no subject
Joe -- this is for sure Joe this time -- the persona smiles, still friendly but tired. And a part of Jason is, he wants to go back to his look out and nap for the 40 minutes before his nightmares bring another bout of mapping and fighting and repeat.
"I'm not asking for any favours. Do what you can," he shrugs, the movement brings an ache that he ignores; he's very good at that, "and we can both get on with our lives, capisce?"
no subject
"Who said it’s a favor? You owe me, remember?" Of course she doesn't mean it, but keeping it light is how Korra handled situations like this one. One stamp of her foot caused the bricks making the ledge to break apart and come together until they make a platform.
"Our ride’s waiting, going down?" Once she’s standing on it, Korra placed her hands on her hips and gave Joe a look over, pausing only briefly on his chest.
no subject
"As much as I would love to go back to your place on your mighty steed, no. I'm not."
Metal Sector -- there's a reason why he doesn't want to go there and it has nothing to do with Korra. He shrugs, casually, a hint of a smirk on his face and that silly amusement in his voice.
"Nothing personal. I think I just need to stay out of a complicated relationship right now."
no subject
"Don’t supposed you’ll let me heal what I can here then?" At the opening of her hand, water poured into the air from the waterskin. "I can’t get all of it, but you’ll be able to get to sleep easier. Pretty sure you wouldn’t go the clinic where I could do it properly."
She was definitely referring to that clinic, but she wasn’t about to let him topic hop onto that.
no subject
He doesn't mind doing a quick heal here. Hell, the fact that he gets a quick heal pretty much made her his favourite person. He's young, but the way he's burning through -- the restless nights on watch, the toss up of nightmares and physical ache that won't let him sleep -- makes a quick heal a blessing. He drops his shirt once more and spreads his arms.
"Work your magic touch, and maybe I won't even have to go in to the clinic." That he never goes to. "Here and now, K."
no subject
"Just try not to fall asleep. Can’t take you to your suite if I don’t know where it is." Said with a small chuckle in her words. It was a fair warning and one she gave often to help dispel any reservations on how the healing may actually feel.
Bringing herself and the water over to Jason, Korra put the water on his shoulder. Despite the cool air, it was at room temperature and glowed a bright blue as soon as it made contact. Guiding the soothing water with her fingers, Korra focused on the darker bruises first.
"Ever think about resting up between gang brawls?"
no subject
Whatever magic-voodoo-thing Korra's doing is really working. He can't help but stare at it - the water dissappaiting the dark brusing, making it fade and fade. He makes a noise, a pleasantly surprised one. Chuckling a bit, he answers her question with a light tone. Not serious at all.
"I'm not looking to settle down if that's what you're thinking. No rest for the wicked, you feel me?" And to top it off, he gives her a saucy wink.
no subject
An exhale containing a hint of laughter escapes her when Korra looks away briefly, as if that would wipe the amused smirk tugging at the corners of her lips. He's incorrigible and part of her wanted to give him a light shove for it.
Instead she kept focused on the task at hand, slowly working her way over each individual bruise. One of them is over the scars on his shoulder and the blue light makes them easier to see as the bruise gets healed away.
"Are these- important to you?" Her finger moves through the water and hovers just over it. When she circles to indicate it, the water gives a gentle pressure to one of the scars while keeping its relaxing, healing nature.
no subject
When asked that, Jason chuckles accompanied by a sigh.
"Minor wounds. You can't see the ones that matter, K."
He might not be falling asleep, but it doesn't mean he doesn't blurt out stupid shit like that.
no subject
"I can heal those too, but it’s going to take water I don’t have here." The small bit that was left after healing Aang was enough to heal something small and this fit that use perfectly.
Once she got down to where the bruises were mostly gone and the pain entirely, Korra lifted the water from him.
"That is if you want me to." There’s no rush in her meaning, scars like those won’t be going anywhere. "But now that you’re good, I think you earned a good passing out." Training with Dinah left her exhausted and she knew exactly how good passing out felt.
no subject
"I think I can manage to pass out in my own bed. We'll just have to call that a second date."
His cheeky smile wanes as he gets up, toss his shirt back on and flex his arm, wringing out unfamiliarly healed flesh. Back to the business at hand, Choi's dead and he confirmed his deal with Leng and got healed all in one go. It's been a good night.
"Thanks for the hand, and I'll catch you later."
And he's up, up and across the roof.
no subject
"Not if I catch you first!" Called out after him with a laugh. Once he’s out of sight, Korra hops over the edge and slides down to the bottom where she can ride Naga back to her suite.
