Gotta spend some time, love. (Some time with me)
Who: Julie and Raleigh, doing some important date stuff and then You?
What?: The first thread is some fluff before Halloween horrors. Then Raleigh observes what's going on. Give me your affected y'all.
When?: Last night into this morning, and then throughout the event.
Warnings: Potential upset puppydog. Also always potential violence.
Raleigh doesn't miss the sense of nervousness. He does miss having more to do then the occasional construction job. Having Julie however - well a good friend makes it more then worth his while. More then a friend - at least he's starting to think that way. In this situation you rely on whoever you can. He related to her. That sense of isolation, that sense of being alone in the face of insurmountable odds.
Kaiju did sound easier then zombies however.
Sitting outside their favorite fire noodle restaurant, Raleigh is doodling. He's not good. Just flowers and trees and bees.

LOCKED TO JULIE.
[to demonstrate he sticks out his own tongue and drops some salt on it] That gets rid of the uh - scarring and burning.
Re: LOCKED TO JULIE.
[Julie is sort of unable to breath right this second. Holy hell. She'd ordered her usual which was spicy in it's own way, and then added to it. Just because.
And now? Well, she's half amused at herself, even laughing at her own misfortune because that had been very hot and now she has tears running down her face both from laughing at herself and being in a bit of pain.
Ask her later, though, and she'd say it was worth it.
She tries to do what Raleigh says, but there's a faint moment of coughing and a groan before she finally manages.
Once that's done?]
Never. Again. That was so dumb of me.
[She's still smiling, though, using the back of her hand to wipe away the last few tears before clearing her throat.]
Y'know, I think I'll survive this.
Re: LOCKED TO JULIE.
Re: LOCKED TO JULIE.
[Now she knows to avoid it.]
Indian food is pretty awesome, though. Haven't had it in years
Re: LOCKED TO JULIE.
Neither have I with all the rations. This is before the Kaiju.
[He raises an eyebrow] Milk also helps but the thought kind of turns my stomach. You ready to go?
Re: LOCKED TO JULIE.
Yeah. Back to your place for a bit?
[She was full. She'd eaten. Not as much as she usually did, and she was probably a bit quiet as compared to her usual steady stream of words. It had been a weird day for her. She clearly has something on her mind, but Julie is the type that needs time to work through it herself before she talks about it.
She stands, grabbing her messenger bag and waiting for Raleigh before they head out and that's when she decides to speak.]
So...I met a kid today. New arrival. Her world sounds...a lot like mine. I think she was born into it. Y'know? She doesn't seem to know what the world is like before and that reminds me of a lot of the kids I take care of back home.
[She's not trying to let this show too much, but it clearly bothers her.]
Re: LOCKED TO JULIE.
[He just holds her a little closer. Waiting for her to continue]</small
Re: LOCKED TO JULIE.
It's hard to watch that sort of thing.
[Which she suspects he understands.]
She said she's never been to a barbeque.
[Julie looks up at Raleigh as they walk, smiling some.]
I want to fix that for her.
[She's just another kid from home to Julie. Someone she has to show a better world to, even though they're fully aware their world is shit.]
Does that sound weird at all?
Re: LOCKED TO JULIE.
Re: LOCKED TO JULIE.
[Raleigh, you don't mind if Julie's head leans on your shoulder a bit, do you?]
I like her. She's a smart kid.
[Julie can also tell the girl's been through some serious shit. Not that she shares.]
Her name is Ellie. In her world, they're not zombies. They're Infected. Something about a fungus that gets into them somehow. We didn't talk much about it.

[This makes Julie so freaking happy. She actually has to stop walking and look up at Raleigh.]
no subject
...Should I have kept her with me?
no subject
[A soft smile appears on Julie's face. ]
You're a sweetheart for buying her something.
[Julies impressed. And may have moved a tiny bit closer, herself. She seems to enjoy the subtle change in distance.]
no subject
Delicate. His heart going still.]
no subject
Her heart is racing just as much as his. Julie's other arm slides around his waist as well, fingers curling in his shirt just a tiny bit.
She could probably kiss Raleigh all day, even if they were outside.]
no subject
I've been hoping for that.
no subject
[Julie kisses him again, briefly. Just the barest brush if her lips against his.]
I'm...also hoping that isn't the only time it happens. I enjoyed that.
no subject
But he gets her, she's wise. Raleigh raises a hand to her hair] Well. We'll have to see.
[That means yes tho.]
no subject
Her eyes close and she leans into his hand.]
We'll see.
[She repeats. It's her way of saying she understands that's a yes.]
Good to hear.
no subject
So much food.
Ellie sees another person outside of the noodle restaurant she was eyeing, and he looked like her. So, of course, she approaches with some caution. Her backpack has a bow attached to it, and a gun. She's clearly used to roughing it out somewhere.]
Hey... Is this place any good?
no subject
[He's seen kids like this before unfortunately.]
...You hungry?
no subject
[she bounces on her feet a little bit, watching him and then the noodle shop, and then back to him. He looks calm enough, and there weren't any immediate moves to grab her, so not a hunter. She was catching on fast.]
no subject
[He gestures] I've got some time before my friend shows up. You want me to show you the inside?
no subject
[she grins a little at the offer, friendly, despite her pretty dirty appearance]
I think I can handle the inside of a restaurant.
no subject
...Could you handle a snack? I just got off work. It's rude to eat in front of people without them eating too and I'm starving.
no subject
[she looks towards the counter, and then back at him. She'd eat everything, until she couldn't eat anymore, if she could.]
So, who are you? What's your name?
no subject
no subject
Ellie.
no subject
Pick your poison man. You new?
no subject
[she stares at all the options, and finally picks the picture that looks the most delicious to her-- a pastry of sorts]
no subject
Excellent choice. [he passes the money forward] So where you from?
no subject
Boston. You?
no subject
no subject
[she grabs the pastry as soon as it's handed to her, eager]

no subject
[He's sipping on his own water casually] I mean if you don't mind me asking.
no subject
no subject
[Tell him more kiddo. He sits back in his chair and watches a few of the patrons come and go]
You mind if I get something to drink real quick?
no subject
Mah, I dun mindff. [god that pastry was delicious, though. She'd have to thank him for buying it. Though she had zero awareness about her manners.]
no subject
Two for one deal.
...What's your monster?
