Considering the recent events with the explosions and overall more dire conditions, this isn't a time for fun, games, or idleness. The situation is different, but in some regards it's similar to that of the front lines. The country he serves doesn't exist here, but aspects that are important to him still do.

There are civilians to protect, bad guys to stop. None of this is ideal, but as long as it needs to be done, he's committed to doing what he can.

Thus most of his time is spent in various parts of the city, engaging in a number of things. Helping rebuild damaged areas, assisting Kedan, training even more intensively. Whatever he can do to help. Should anyone stop to talk to him or anything else, he'll at least take the time to stop what he's doing to provide undivided attention.

In the early hours of morning and in the evenings, Steve can also be found at home, especially considering he technically does have to sleep and eat at some point. He's trying to avoid using any form of communication that isn't face-to-face for the sake of security, so he's let it be known to anyone who wants to speak to him privately that they can come here.

It's not a feeling Steve has felt before, and he's not even sure how he would describe. He just knows that he's drawn to something or someone, and it's a feeling he can't ignore. It tugs at him to the point where he has to stop what he's doing to go wherever he's being called to.

He only feels at ease when he finds Sophia Marie Penelope, the turtle he's apparently bonded with. He knows nothing about caring for turtles, so he's going to have to find time to learn everything he can.

For the moment, however, he's content with just spending time with her.

Situation: Tess got injured pretty badly in the explosions. Now that she's stabilized, she's been sent home - or rather, to Joel's place. Joel's going to keep a close eye on all his girls or something. :|
Warnings/Rating: C for cussin', probably U for unresolved feelings.

Tess hates being essentially immobile. Being stuck in one place for any extended length of time drives her up the walls, and while she's glad that Joel is back and would never wish him gone again - she kind of hates it that he's here all the time. Hovering.

She gets it, but she still hates it. Like a constant reminder that he lost her, that she's dead, when she would just as soon pretend it didn't happen and go running around doing stupid stuff like always. But then he looks at her with that haunted expression and it all comes crashing back.

Somehow, she thinks it makes the nightmares even worse.

At least Ellie and Sarah are around to try and lighten the mood. Right?

[what started as an idea hatched while laying awake at night, trying not to think too hard grew. Ellie and some Kedan children had found their perfect vehicle, in lieu of water guns. Water balloons.

With some help, thanks to her broken arm, Ellie and the kids had spent all day filling up water balloons. Hundreds, to maybe a thousand, between them, and they created stations for people to grab their own, and strategically placed supplies in places people could create their own water balloons.

Every sector had spots. Every foreigner, and possible even some kedan, could be a target.

Better not walk under any bridges. You may suddenly find yourself splashed with icy water balloons from overhead, or find yourself attacked from around a corner. What can you do besides JOIN IN?]

OOC INFORMATION ♦ CITY OF KEELIAI ♦ INSIDE THE BOTTLE ♦ THE WORLD EATER
Arriving in Kithika is unpleasant for the most part. Transport through the glass vessel deposits you in the middle of a thick and murky swamp, with air so hot and humid it feels as though one is breathing through a wet towel. This is a place of perpetual night and there are no celestial bodies visible overhead through the twisted vines to break up the blackness, making the only light visible that which comes clumps of marsh fungus that emit a steady glow in a variety of muted colours: pale blue, whitish green, watery mauve. The only other light comes from those who can generate it themselves and that will reveal numerous broad-leaved trees, in some places standing too thick to move through. Below, knee-deep water laps in swirls at their legs, accompanied by the occasional slithery feel of something moving in the bracken against wet limbs, gone before it can be identified. A variety of strange noises from creatures of the swamp fill the air with buzzing and hoarse croaking, interrupted by the screech of mosquitoes the size of hummingbirds darting past and hungry for a meal.

There are numerous Christmas trees dotted through the house, and each Christmas tree is extravagantly decorated. They all have little hand-carved and painted ornaments, and for everyone that's been invited there is an ornament that's reminiscent of something from their home world or if Jim has no knowledge of it, something that seems specific to them in particular. There are names carved into the bottom of the ornaments, and people are free to take them home, they're essentially gifts!

Raleigh doesn't miss the sense of nervousness. He does miss having more to do then the occasional construction job. Having Julie however - well a good friend makes it more then worth his while. More then a friend - at least he's starting to think that way. In this situation you rely on whoever you can. He related to her. That sense of isolation, that sense of being alone in the face of insurmountable odds.

Kaiju did sound easier then zombies however.

Situation: The kedan have decided to participate in an Earth tradition: Hallowe'en! But there are other mysterious things afoot this holiday and when people start disappearing they'll have to find a way to reverse the effect... though all of their selves might not make it back.

As the weather turns crisper, the nights and mornings carry with them a hint of chill promising cooler days to come, the month starts drawing to a close. This is a pleasant time, soon to be the season of harvest even on such a nomad as Tu Vishan. Yet the relations with the kedan have been good lately and even the Emperor's latest warning has not dampened the resilience of her people (both willing citizens and not) and so today marks a new tradition to Keeliai and it starts with receiving a simple, handwritten invitation.

"Come and celebrate the Keeliai of ages past..."

MID PLOT UPDATE!
Through the course of investigations will be discovered that every Foreigner who went trick or treating has acquired themselves at least one pot of what appears to be iridescent paint, sometimes more than one. Experimenting with these pots (because lbr who doesn't want a few randomly shimmery possessions) oddly enough lets ghosted characters interact with them completely solidly. Which, if you've inadvertently been ignoring someone, might mean you get your new shiny lamp thrown at your head.

Now if people get the smart idea to the paint the paint, that would let ghosted characters get hold of this stuff themselves...

TL;DR - Ghosted characters can paint themselves back into phase. ~~Eating the stuff is also acceptable.~~
