OOC INFORMATIONCITY OF KEELIAIINSIDE THE BOTTLETHE WORLD EATER

For nearly two days the brave quest takers have been sequestered at the sullied Temple and its grounds, the thick jungle and swamp preventing them from leaving. There are faint tremors that run through the ground and in the middle of the third night, the ground gives a great heave, jostling everyone from their rested states. In one of the Temple rooms, a sinkhole has appeared to reveal not spongy ground beneath, but a dark tunnel leading down into the earth. It doesn't take much to widen the entrance and follow the gentle downward slope that leads out to the north, and a walk of about two hours (which surely would feel like longer to those who don't enjoy being trapped in low, dank places) leads them under the swamp itself. By the time the tunnel slopes upward, the muddy ground has turned hard and packed with small chips of rock and sand; the terrain above is changing and as they emerge upward through a fissure in the ground...

OOC NOTE: The Aftermath comment will be unfrozen and its direction posted on February 23rd, based on the outcome of the other threads.

Shepard was exhausted. On her last legs. Even with her cybernetic enhancements, so much use of her biotics and fighting was bound to wear her out, particularly against something so big and inscrutable.

This was one of the few things she had just never trained for. Like fighting a Reaper on foot. Except even bigger.

Exhausted as she was, however, she couldn't keep quiet. She had to speak up.

"Killing it would be wrong," she said firmly. "We can't just kill it out of hand. The corruption obviously wasn't its fault."

Still exhausted, Sabriel did not sheath her sword- instead, she raised it to a guard position, and somehow found a bit more energy.

"The corruption has been purged- and this creature was not at fault. There is no need to kill it, and I will stop anyone who attempts to do so. If this creature is connected to this realm, killing it now may do more harm than good- if anything, we ought to try and heal it."

"Seconded." Kurt was kind of loopy, both from exhaustion and the dizzy fog that came with way overdoing teleportation. Great way to get magic water onto a giant dragon, though. As such he was slightly more than usually incoherent. "These things are always waaaaay better if you fix 'em. Like, one in three times someone's tried to kill me it's been a mind-control thing, and they feel really bad and junk."

Muscles burned. His body ached. Hawke found himself feeling much the same way he did after dueling the Arishok. Still he stands with his weapons at the ready. It seems that if there's any fighting left to be done, it will be amongst themselves. Hopefully that won't be needed.

"Now I've slain more than a few dragons in my time but I'd like to call that self-defense more than anything." He nods his head back towards the creature. "Whatever it was, it's not that any more, and it probably needs aid more than another kick in the teeth."

Eloquently put as always.

Naugus only snorts in response to that. He obviously disagrees with the idea of sparing the creature, but is getting the feeling his idea is being outvoted. So best keep his mouth shut. Sans grumping and huffing and giving dirty looks at the battered dragon.

Standing not too far from his companion, Hawke can't help but notice the grumbling and griping coming from Ixis. Hawke turns his head lifting an eyebrow at the mage, his ever present smirk still there. "I'm sensing some resistance here."

"Why bother? The thing is twisted to the core by whatever grips it! Put it out of its misery, I say." Also, Naugus is a vengeful son of a B who can't let even the smallest grudge go by without notice or complaint. Or grueling revenge. Whatever.

"It doesn't look so twisted anymore, mostly just small and pathetic." Hawke continues to smirk as Ixis protests. It would be best to defuse this situation before someone starts hurling magic and everything turns into another brawl.

"Find a heart. One has to be beating around in there somewhere. If you can save one boy from a cave in then you can spare one formally crazy dragon."
ixis: (Grumpy)

He hisses to himself, crossing his arms and sulking. "Hhhhhssssssss...Fine. I still think it should be put down, but I'll keep that to myself in order to defer to the majority. I'm not so sure on the heart-finding matter, but I can be democratic about this."

"Works for me. Politics work just as well if you can't pull someone's heartstrings." Years of being in Kirkwall taught Hawke that. "Whatever helps keep this group from tearing each other apart."
