EVENT | LANDFALL | KITHIKA | KEELIAI
Characters: ALL!
Date: February 12th - 28th
Location: Keeliai
Situation: The discovery of an artifact from the first war against Malicant reveals the land of Kithika within a dimension of the Death Plane... and just happens to be contained inside a bottle.
Warnings/Rating: Please indicate content warnings in subject headers as applicable.
OOC INFORMATION ♦ CITY OF KEELIAI ♦ INSIDE THE BOTTLE ♦ THE WORLD EATER
Commencing the morning of the tenth, a mysterious thick, black fog covers all of Keeliai with no discernible cause, making it difficult to see. Although it doesn't seem to enter houses or suites, it's literally everywhere else and can't be swept or cleared away by superpowers. Attempts to scan it with technology lead to unexpected and inconsistent results, with the findings varying from speculation that it is smoke from a coal fire to the occasional reading stating that it is black cotton candy floating in the air.
Following the official announcement explaining origins of the mysterious black fog inundating Keeliai, the call is put out for the Foreigners to attend the Palace and prepare to be transported to Kithika. Once inside, it is explained, they will be responsible for finding the source of the corruption and expunging it. Once they have entered the bottle it will be impossible for them to leave until their task is completed, making this an all or nothing undertaking. This is upon direct imperative of the Alderwood Emperor and he expects any and all combat-capable Foreigners to heed his order, and they are to report to the Palace of the Landed Sky without delay.

Halting the Scourge
Visiting the Palace with this information will result in Evandau allowing SUPERVISED ACCESS ONLY to this pool, where characters can fill silver flasks with the water and journey forth to battle the goo-creatures! This water can be used to cleanse the mold, goo, and creatures that have manifested in Keeliai itself. This water is potent, but its potency is limited. It must be transported in only the silver flasks and be used within four hours of being drawn from the pool otherwise it will lose its effect and the characters will have to try again. Each successful use will clear away all but the fog. Any area or person that has been doused with this water has a 24 hour invulnerability period against the corruption.

She's been sitting largely unmoving for several minutes now, enough to begin garnering interest. A kind fellow Foreigner might want to gently prompt her before the guards start getting wary.

He pushes his way to the front with his own container, and finds everyone staring at River. She has a container, but he nearly mistakes her for a statue given how still she is. He mentally equates that with terror, having seen one too many petrified with it over his life.
'Hey,' he hisses, with urgency. 'Dip it in the water, huh?'
no subject
"Peel it back like the skin of a fruit, cut it into pieces, serve it hungry..."
no subject
He glances at the others in the queue, and sighs. 'Hey,' he repeats, more evenly. 'Dip it in the water. We've kind of got to get it to people ASAP.'
no subject
"There's something in there," she says, clutching the silver jug to her chest. "So loud. If I break the surface it'll get out."
no subject
'What's in there, sweetheart?' he asks, softly. 'What's it saying?'

'Changing from what?'
no subject
"They're all broken, they can't show the whole picture. It's just little pieces and when you try to pick them up, they can cut you and you'll bleed."

"Liar," she snaps at the pool, petulant before pushing the silver urn under the water and drawing it up full. She gets to her feet in a smooth, graceful rise and clutches the urn to her chest, turning for the door.
"Liars and thieves," she mumbles over and over, looking quite upset about it.

He lets his fingers skim the water again, this time hovering above the ripples cause by her urn. Had it simply not happened or not hurt?
'Wait up!' he calls, as she walks off in such a huff - no, walks isn't it. She moves in a way that makes him think of Anne, like they've both been at the sea. Damnit he couldn't think about painting at a time like this. Grabbing his urn, he fills it and follows her. 'It didn't break? Isn't that a good thing?'

She's stayed indoors for the most part, but even then there's been too much going on to sit idle and hide. Sarah is scared. That goes without saying, but if Ellie can step up and fight, then Sarah can do her part.
Normal water has been her weapon until now, and it's only by chance that she's heard of the water at the Palace being even more effective. Thus she stands before the pool, silver flask in hand and eyes on the room around her. Sarah will do what she must, but she knows this is dangerous, and someone to go with her would definitely help.
hope this is okay!
She's still in her Batgirl gear when she heads in, nodding to the kedan supervising the whole thing as she collects a silver flask to fill with water, but the young girl by the edge of the pool gives her pause. It's not like she isn't used to kids knowing how to fight, but she can tell fear when she sees it, and she can hazard a guess that this girl isn't like Damian, isn't someone used to fighting.
So she moves to the pool, crouching down beside Sarah as she fills up the flask, looking up with a wry smile, "You know, we'd probably get this done a lot quicker if we worked together."
Just in case the girl is the type to balk at help from adults.
absolutely :3
There should be others around, but for the moment it's just the two of them. Following suit, she takes a deep breath and fills her own flask. "Have you been okay so far?" Sarah asks. In her own experiences, things have just been crazy.
Then again, her new partner in crime is wearing what Sarah mentally dubs a hero costume. She's met a few by now, but still the twelve year old in her has to ask. "...Wait whoa, are you a hero too?"
c:
"I've been managing, how about you?" Once the flask is full, she tucks it into one of the pouches on her utility belt, since she had the foresight to empty one out for the purpose, "And yeah, I am. Batgirl at your service."
With the flask away, she's free to offer her hand to shake. Even superheroes have manners, sometimes.
no subject
It's still so strange, but she's been managing. But now it's time to take a stand and do her part. Sarah takes the offered hand and gives it a friendly shake. "I'm Sarah. It's so cool to meet you."
no subject
Steph keeps her grip gentle, and once she's released Sarah's hand she gestures to the exit, "It's cool to meet you too, Sarah. Shall we?"
no subject
"Alright. Let's do this," she said, fighting back the fear with determination. If Ellie could do this kind of thing, then so could she. Kinda. "It's not so bad when it's just the mold. It's when it starts... movin' that things get weird."
So long as they keep it from getting that far too much, things will work out just fine.
no subject
"If the mold starts moving, I want you to run, 'kay? I'll handle it, you just get yourself somewhere safe inside until I come get you," Steph can deal with any mold creatures that come, but she doesn't want a little girl to get hurt.
no subject
At the instruction to run, Sarah nods her head. "What about you? Are you gonna be okay if that happens?"
no subject
"I'm a superhero, I can handle a couple of mold monsters," It's a little more cocky than she might be otherwise, but - it's for Sarah's sake.
no subject
"I've got your back either way, got it?" In her own way. Sarah will run and hide, but if push comes to shove she might just dive out there to help.
