EVENT | LANDFALL | KITHIKA | DRAGON
Characters: ALL!
Date: February 12th - 28th
Location: Keeliai
Situation: The discovery of an artifact from the first war against Malicant reveals the land of Kithika within a dimension of the Death Plane... and just happens to be contained inside a bottle.
Warnings/Rating: Please indicate content warnings in subject headers as applicable.
OOC INFORMATION ♦ CITY OF KEELIAI ♦ INSIDE THE BOTTLE ♦ THE WORLD EATER
For nearly two days the brave quest takers have been sequestered at the sullied Temple and its grounds, the thick jungle and swamp preventing them from leaving. There are faint tremors that run through the ground and in the middle of the third night, the ground gives a great heave, jostling everyone from their rested states. In one of the Temple rooms, a sinkhole has appeared to reveal not spongy ground beneath, but a dark tunnel leading down into the earth. It doesn't take much to widen the entrance and follow the gentle downward slope that leads out to the north, and a walk of about two hours (which surely would feel like longer to those who don't enjoy being trapped in low, dank places) leads them under the swamp itself. By the time the tunnel slopes upward, the muddy ground has turned hard and packed with small chips of rock and sand; the terrain above is changing and as they emerge upward through a fissure in the ground...
---
OOC NOTE: The Aftermath comment will be unfrozen and its direction posted on February 23rd, based on the outcome of the other threads.

The Guarded Pool
Once the trial has been passed and your character is allowed access to the pool, they will find that the water is potent but its potency limited. The Fu dogs would explain that use of the water, if asked and engaged appropriately: it must be used within four hours of being drawn from the pool otherwise it will lose its effect and the characters will have to try again. There are silver jugs nearby the pool that one can use to carry the water, trying to use anything else – such as a magical construct or something from the outside world, will slowly turn the water brackish and it will be useless at that point.
With each pustule cleansed, there will be a high-pitched scream that denotes the death of the corruption at that point. The pustule will melt away and there will show a brief glimmering of tiny iridescent blue/orange feathers overlaid like scales and a pleasant, warm aura before it fades into a grey haze until all of the corruption is dealt with.

Finding her way back to the fighting was not hard, but Sabriel stopped every so often- just long enough leave behind a charter light on the ground to mark her path.
When she finally reached the dragon, she threw the water on the first pustule she could reach- and gasped at what she saw underneath the corruption.
Turning back the way she came, she grabbed the wrist of the first person she could find.
"Come with me- I think there's another way to do this!"
no subject
It wouldn't be surprising if she did not recognize him at first-- Armin was covered head-to-toe in muck and mud; even his blonde hair looked dingy and brown from the dirt. But he began to approach her as he noticed her carrying an odd jug, looking at an unusually colorful and clean patch of ground in front of her.
What was that? As soon as he realized that the ground they walked on was one giant, living being, he was doing his best to make sure it died. Those monsters that erupted from the boils he cut open were attacking them, after all. Nothing good could possibly come from letting it live... Right?
"What's going on? What are you doing?"
no subject
Without a warning, Sabriel grabbed his wrist, dragging him in the direction she'd come, trying to explain further as she went.
"I think there's still some traces of what this place was, before it was corrupted- there's a pool some distance from here, with water that can cleanse whatever's wrong with this place!"

Armin grows quiet for a moment to sort of his thoughts, then speaks up again.
"Are you willing to take responsibility for what might happen?"

Armin's trust does not come lightly, but he decides to put it in Sabriel. She's proven her wise nature to him before.
"So I'm guessing we have to collect water from this special pool you found, and pour it on the boils to clean the dragon?"
no subject
we do not wash our pits in the pool of sacred tears :|
The spring is the one clean thing he had seen in days, and while he's very tempted to wash his hands and face in it, he feels that it would be disrespectful somehow.
"Must we use the jugs, or can we work out some other way of moving the water?"
They'd need a lot of people working together to make this an efficient process. Alone, it could take days to clean the corruption.
no subject
"According to them, the jugs are the only way to preserve the water's cleansing properties long enough to get it to the dragon," With that, Sabriel dipped her jug into the water, filling it as much as she dared. "Come on- we don't have an unlimited amount of time."

"You know, I don't think this is working."
And that was what pulled him away from the fight. There had to be some other way, some resource they were lacking, because as far as he could tell, the giant monster wasn't all that impressed by their efforts. Or maybe that's just what dragons with the title "World Eater" did when they got a papercut. Either way, he was taking a better look around. Maybe, like the whole hero attempt, they hadn't been the first ones to do this. He moves back, away from the battle, over the open plains. Why did that area seem better off?
no subject
She needed calories, and rest, and this needed to be finished, ASAP.
"Agreed," she muttered to Tony as she crouched down to catch her breath. "Got any suggestions?"
no subject
He knows he's supposed to be the one with all of the plans, but people seriously seem to overestimate him sometimes. Then again, maybe there is an idea forming. He hasn't quite got it yet, but-
"You think it's weird how we can get further away from the corruption? I mean, it's spread out, but it seems like it's clearer this direction."
no subject
But it doesn't make sense, he tells himself. The logic's a small comfort, but a comfort nonetheless. If we could've beat this dragon normally, wouldn't we have managed it already with all of these people? And he's exhausted, confused, not doing a hell of a lot to help, in the end: there's got to be some answer that they've overlooked, and like hell he's going back unless he's found it.
Which is when he flies a little too close to Iron Man in his inattentive state.
"Sorry!" he calls out, slowing to a hover, "I'm guessing you're trying for a Plan B too?"
no subject
The approaching figure snaps him out of his thoughts. It's a good thing, too--they had probably been heading toward a collision. At least Jaime had the sense to alert him.
"We're not getting anywhere like this. We can keep pounding on him all we want, but it's just making him angrier. And we're only helping it spread that substance it's using."
That is his assessment. Maybe not entirely helpful, but he's tired of getting no results from fighting.
"We need a better idea. Let's pull back for now. See what we're missing."
no subject
"I can't get a reading on it," he calls back, worried, "but whatever that stuff is isn't anything good. It's really not helpful at best and worsening whatever's happening at worst."
With one last glance back in the direction of the dragon, he turns his eyes forward.
"Yeah. Uh, and you are..." The Red Robot? The Metallic Marvel?
no subject
"There's some tragic irony in you having to ask me my name," he says. "You can call me Iron Man, though. And I call you what? Bug Eyes? Nice outfit, by the way. I like it."
He could make more effort not to sound facetious, but really everything Tony says comes off absently while he looks around for some sign of energy nearby. His sensors are reading a lot of things, but none of them seem particularly helpful for their cause. Still, maybe it's what he's not reading that should be important.

It wasn't hard to keep track of where the fight with the continent-sized dragon was going on. He went ahead and teleported back in a few jumps and hopped right onto the dragon's back to test out his find. Awesome.
Well, that worked. He'd better get at least a few passengers in on this. "Anybody want a ride to where you get the I-don't-wanna-fight-something-the-size-of-Iceland-that's-probably-mind-controlled-anyway juice?" Kurt had been attacked by psychically manipulated gods, space whales, and super-powered cowboys. He just kind of assumed at this point.
Closed; Mako
He’s always been her pillar of support. And her memories of a world where he died is in the back of her mind, trying to infect her thoughts.]
Come on, let’s get some water. [The pool off in the distance catches her eye and she waves for him to follow, but she stops a bit short to gauge the Fu dogs that are guarding it.] Spirits?
[It’s only her only guess since they aren’t malicious looking.]
no subject
He'd practically shrugged into his Dad's scarf. It's when she slows down and asks the question that he looks up, staring at the dogs blocking the way to the water.
Slowly, gears started to turn.
They were guarding it. So, clearly it was important.]
I don't know. Not anymore than anything else here.
no subject
I’m Avatar Korra. [Putting her hand in her fist, she bows respectfully.] May use your water?
[Expecting something to go wrong, like it has most of the way, Korra’s surprise is visible when they let her pass. Taking a few steps without being attacked, she waves Mako to follow.]
Closed - Cora & Stiles
Stiles carefully grabs Cora around the waist, and starts his flight back to the dragon. Two little jugs of water, compared to that enormous dragon. They're either going to hope for magic, or be making a lot of trips.
no subject
"Try getting in close to a spot so we can splash it on?" Cora isn't really sure how aware this dragon is, will it notice them even if people are fighting on the other boils?
