Does whatever a spider can...
Characters: Spider-Man (1610, Parker edition), and YOU!!!
Date: 11/30
Location: all around the city
Situation: Peter's feeling better and is doing a few laps around the city via rooftops in hisunderwear torn up costume
Warnings/Rating: TBA
It felt good to be out of the suite. It felt good to be running around, jumping from rooftop to rooftop like he used to back in New York. Peter had spent enough time sitting around in recovery mode, and more than enough time being restless and wanting to wander the streets. It was a new feeling that he'd never quite had before; When you're busy every night fighting off muggers and burglars and masked mad men, you crave the days when you can just sit at home, do homework, read The Hobbit... And now Peter found himself suffering somewhat the opposite. With no homework and no Hobbit, what could he fill his R&R time with? Nothing but a restless mind with a million questions and zero answers.
So running around in his red and blue pajamas and mask seemed to help, as torn up and dirty as they still were. At least it made him feel productive. His webs were being saved, however; first he needed to scout out what was around the city that could be used to make more. Which was probably for the best... As healed up as he was, he didn't really want that wound in his side splitting wide open and gushing his insides out onto the streets below while he did his swinging around. Jumping across the rooftops at least gave him an easy stop option if he needed it.

--Wait, May had another question. "Yeah. Tony. Stark? Do you... not have one of those?"
no subject
"We do! He's retired," and so vain that his hair's an obvious dye job, "But he was still trying to backseat drive the Avengers." He can't tell, but she's making a face. She doesn't really like the guy, for all that he was a big time hero. Being a 'good' person didn't make you a 'nice' one.

That's a pretty important distinction, after all.
As for Tony... "Oh... Well, I guess that kinda figures. He really just- does whatever he wants, huh?"
no subject
" The guy really needs to learn how to listen. He tried to push a bunch of retired heroes on the team even though they had been out of it for years. You can guess how well that went." Hint: Not at all.
She still has no idea how to answer his question right, so she just pauses. "Yeah. Time travel." Her voice is serious, slightly lower. "It kinda was the only way I'd ever meet her."

And then Peter got his answer. Aunt May wasn't around in this May's life. Honestly, Peter couldn't even imagine a life without Aunt May around in some capacity. She was his entire family, really. Peter slumped back against the nearest object, suddenly needing the support while he let this information process.
"Oh." He had other questions of course, but he didn't think May would have the answers. And he wasn't sure he wanted to dwell on the subject for too long.

So it's not a big surprise that this Peter slumps, making her wish she hadn't opened her mouth on the subject of Aunt May in the first place.
She hovers nearby for a second, not entirely sure what to do before she puts a hand on his shoulder.
"I am so, so sorry I said that. I shouldn't've brought it up."
WOOOOO LATENESS
Pulling in another breath, he tries to reason with himself. He has to. As much as he's never wanted to think about it, Aunt May's just as mortal as everyone else. And in another 20 or 30 years, who even knew what would happen? The woman had suffered a heart attack when S.H.I.E.L.D. attacked their house, and he himself had just died... Like Captain America said, they're all going to end up in the ground eventually.
"I'm sorry." He finally turns back to May, pulling himself back together enough to not be slumped and wallowing in a big steaming pile of pity. "I'm sorry, I was just- surprised. I'm okay."
Re: WOOOOO LATENESS
"Are you sure? I should have known better than to say anything. I know how much she means to you." It was her fault, really. She should have thought first, instead of just saying something. Way to go, girl, that was really something he needed to hear.
no subject
"I'm sure. But thanks for checking."
no subject
"Okay. Maybe we should get moving?"
If he wants to put it behind him, she's more than glad to help, and not sticking around in one place will make it easier.
no subject
"Yeah, we probably should. Two people on a rooftop in red and blue pajamas probably isn't the most inconspicuous thing in the world."
With a quick full body stretch, Peter takes off running for the roof's edge and launches himself onto the next building.

"If you consider these pajamas, I don't want to know what you sleep in," she says, teasingly. It's lighthearted, intended to pull them out of the awkward and depressing moment she started and is still kicking herself for.
"Have you figured out how to make webfluid out of anything here yet?"
