OOC Post | Approved Items | Special Gifts
Aihsohlow | Phorezton | Markutte | Countryside
The commerce town of the tried. Temperatures within the dome are kept at a lofty 18C (62F) year round and the population of Markutte dresses less in furs and more in linens obtained through trade. Their long hair is frequently shorn short in the current fashion and they are, on the whole, less hardy than their kin in Phorezton and Aihsohlow, but even more friendly as they are currently in the throes of the Harvest Haul, a festival that concludes their rare growing seasons and agricultural bounties.
Trade. That's the foundation of Markutte and there are three town squares that are home to transient stalls and merchandise from the country and all surviving areas of Konryu. Many kedan have made their way here and occupy the occasional stall space, selling their wares and exchanging gifts with the citizens as they grasp the nature of the festival underway. Once again, visitors that make the trek here are expected to donate a gift that will be regifted at random, earning access and a stamp of their tin visa that resembles the oblong crystal coin used as currency in this realm.
Police are on the lookout for financial crimes here and will demand visas of any they suspect to be committed fraud, short-selling merchants, or thieving in any way, shape, or form. There are three vistas, one in each market square, upon which heralds stand and announce the crimes and punishments noted of the previous day. Minor theft is common and the punishment is a brand upon the criminal's neck; major theft results in a loss of a finger for each item stolen; fraud here is punishable by death, but only twice will there be an announcement of an execution during the landfall.
The auctions here are quite lively and characters can expect a minor bidding war to obtain their items, but each item is in pristine condition and provided to them wrapped within a thin set of furs as a thanks for their purchase.

Probably not.]I did see furs that would fend you from the cold. [Except that was an hour ago. Not that he needs to, but Thor straightens up to his full height to look just over the heads of the crowd they were in. He can spot it, give him a second.]
no subject
Fur, huh? I guess they don't exactly have PETA wandering around here and causing a fuss, do they?
no subject
[Instead of trying to fathom who exactly wanders about to fuss about warming attire, well, he’ll just let Darcy save him from that minor puzzle.]
Ah! There. [No, pointing at it over the heads everyone else won’t help Darcy see it. He realizes that less than a second later.] This way.
[Best thing about being around town with Thor? People move when he asks, even the obstinate ones.]
no subject
She followed along as he lead her through the crowd of people.]
They're an organization who fight for the fair treatment of animals. They're not too kind of the whole fur idea.
no subject
Surely this will keep any person warm, even outside this dome. [The old merchant in the stall kept her eye on them, just in case either of them would try to take off with her wares.]
Give it a try.
no subject
[She's just grinning, at least until she takes a good look at the fur coat.]
We'll, it's not exactly my style...
[She bites her lip as she considers the coat. She was cold, and something like that would clearly keep her warm. But could she even afford it?
She sighed just a bit a slipped the coat on. Mostly, she just didn't want to disappoint Thor. He had remarkable puppy-eyes for a guy that buff.]
How's it look?
no subject
We can find one of style in its stead. Though I think none of these of are made with antlers attached- [He pauses to look to at the merchant.] are there?
[Of course they’re not, and Thor merely shrugs, taking down an entire line of hanging coats; using his arm as a rack.]
Perhaps one of these is more suitable.
no subject
[She smirks as she shrugs the coat off and starts poking through the others. She lands on a smaller coat made of some reddish-brown fur and slips that on instead. It isn't as bulky, but feels just as warm as the last.]
Ooo. Well, this one's better. What do you think?
no subject
And this gift will serve you better in the time before your Christmas as well as after. [It’s a hit to his funds for the landfall trip, but worth it as far as he’s concerned. After paying for it, Thor sets the other back up to hang.]
no subject
[Even if she really wants to.]
no subject
[Once they’re hanging back up, Thor gives a polite nod to the vendor.] Bear in mind that this is exactly why I am here.
[Grinning, at Darcy, he hold up his sack of Christmas purchases.]
no subject
[She glances at the bag, and then down at herself in the new coat.]
Well, if you're going to insist... [She hugs the coat closer.] Thanks, Thor. I'll be sure to find you something good in return.
no subject
[Because they’re tasty and come in those snack sized boxes.]

I've only had what is provided in our suites when we arrive.

I'll give you a call when I find the place. How does that sound?
no subject
[Because flavor can only go so far and friends only enhance the experience.]
