Event | Landfall | Bresilyk | Markutte
Characters: Any and all!
Date: December 3 - 11, 2013
Location: Markutte, Bresilyk (landfall)
Situation: Tu Vishan makes landfall at the winterbound republic of Bresilyk!

OOC Post | Approved Items | Special Gifts
Aihsohlow | Phorezton | Markutte | Countryside
The commerce town of the tried. Temperatures within the dome are kept at a lofty 18C (62F) year round and the population of Markutte dresses less in furs and more in linens obtained through trade. Their long hair is frequently shorn short in the current fashion and they are, on the whole, less hardy than their kin in Phorezton and Aihsohlow, but even more friendly as they are currently in the throes of the Harvest Haul, a festival that concludes their rare growing seasons and agricultural bounties.
Trade. That's the foundation of Markutte and there are three town squares that are home to transient stalls and merchandise from the country and all surviving areas of Konryu. Many kedan have made their way here and occupy the occasional stall space, selling their wares and exchanging gifts with the citizens as they grasp the nature of the festival underway. Once again, visitors that make the trek here are expected to donate a gift that will be regifted at random, earning access and a stamp of their tin visa that resembles the oblong crystal coin used as currency in this realm.
Police are on the lookout for financial crimes here and will demand visas of any they suspect to be committed fraud, short-selling merchants, or thieving in any way, shape, or form. There are three vistas, one in each market square, upon which heralds stand and announce the crimes and punishments noted of the previous day. Minor theft is common and the punishment is a brand upon the criminal's neck; major theft results in a loss of a finger for each item stolen; fraud here is punishable by death, but only twice will there be an announcement of an execution during the landfall.
The auctions here are quite lively and characters can expect a minor bidding war to obtain their items, but each item is in pristine condition and provided to them wrapped within a thin set of furs as a thanks for their purchase.

[Still, she grins, and it edges on something smug, because damn right it's impressive.] I've been studying architecture for years. A little less than ten, to be precise. You kind of memorize things along the way.
[Since she learned how to read Ancient Greek, really. But she pauses, considering.] Did Percy ever tell you I was redesigning Olympus?
no subject
He did. He talked and talked and talked about you while we waited for you at camp Jupiter, actually.

[She does make a somewhat apologetic face, though.] He's ridiculous, I'm sorry. [Her tone is nearly entirely affectionate, too.] I was cut off from the work when the gods went silent, but I'll get back to it one day.
no subject
[A silent grin. He doesn't look sorry at all.] Have you thought about putting that ability to work in here? Maybe with that rich neighbor of yours?
no subject
[She half rolls her eyes, but at the idea of Bruce Wayne moreso than Frank's suggestion.] I don't really have any desire to work for Wayne Enterprises. Or Stark Industries, for that matter. [Even if the latter was the financial backer of the hydroponics garden.] I've helped out with smaller kedan projects, though, and stuff like Bryn's Brazen Turtle tavern.

Dare I ask what the man did to you?
no subject
He insulted my mother. [Among other things.]
no subject
I'm sorry. I don't blame you then.

Sometimes I think people take my heritage more seriously because of who my father is, and would laugh if it was Apollo or someone else.
no subject
[Only it falters a bit right after.] I think who our parents are definitely influences perceptions, at least upfront. But we can prove we're more than just our parents' children. I mean - we are. [Annabeth has always had a lot of respect for her mother, but she's been disagreeing with her more often than not lately.] Though for the record, I take you seriously because you're Frank, not because you're a son of Mars.
no subject
Do you think we should have kept it secret? Like superheroes with their masks and such.
no subject
It's secret enough at home. I mean, I kept it mostly to myself when I was alone in this place, but there's something kind of nice about not having to hide who I am from everyone, you know? [Especially when that side of her was something she worried over for years. Something she worried would do nothing but push people away.]
one day I will not fuck up html in a thread
And to be honest it's funny to see people's reactions to it, too. I don't know how it went for you but many people don't even buy it at first.
pat pat
The only time it's not amusing is when they think you outta prove it and make demands for just that. [See again: Tony Stark.] I mean, considering the kinds of people here with us, demigods seem to fit right in. I don't know why it's so unbelievable. [Since they're kind of living on the back of a giant turtle to boot.]

It's like as soon as some kind of deity is involved it's suddenly to strange, but if I was, I don't know, if I had been hit by gamma rays while being bitten by a radioctive spider and also an alien it would make sense?
I even tried to explain how it wasn't about God-God, but nope no luck.
no subject
[A sigh.] You'd think it'd make more sense, or at least they'd be more open to it with that sort of thing. Really, a half-god makes more sense than radioactive - [...she makes another face, this one more vaguely uncomfortable] - spider bites.
no subject
I think because we are teenagers they assume we're going to be irresponsible with out powers. Sadie wanted to play around a bit, andhe didn't hurt Leo The Awesome or anything.
2/2
[LEO]
no subject
[She sighs a little.] I think you're right though, that our age definitely has a lot to do with it. Which is frustrating on it's own level.
no subject
no subject
[A beat.] But with how long I've been here now, I've passed eighteen by this point.
no subject
And if time stops in this place does that even count?
