The commerce town of the tried. Temperatures within the dome are kept at a lofty 18C (62F) year round and the population of Markutte dresses less in furs and more in linens obtained through trade. Their long hair is frequently shorn short in the current fashion and they are, on the whole, less hardy than their kin in Phorezton and Aihsohlow, but even more friendly as they are currently in the throes of the Harvest Haul, a festival that concludes their rare growing seasons and agricultural bounties.

Trade. That's the foundation of Markutte and there are three town squares that are home to transient stalls and merchandise from the country and all surviving areas of Konryu. Many kedan have made their way here and occupy the occasional stall space, selling their wares and exchanging gifts with the citizens as they grasp the nature of the festival underway. Once again, visitors that make the trek here are expected to donate a gift that will be regifted at random, earning access and a stamp of their tin visa that resembles the oblong crystal coin used as currency in this realm.

Police are on the lookout for financial crimes here and will demand visas of any they suspect to be committed fraud, short-selling merchants, or thieving in any way, shape, or form. There are three vistas, one in each market square, upon which heralds stand and announce the crimes and punishments noted of the previous day. Minor theft is common and the punishment is a brand upon the criminal's neck; major theft results in a loss of a finger for each item stolen; fraud here is punishable by death, but only twice will there be an announcement of an execution during the landfall.

The auctions here are quite lively and characters can expect a minor bidding war to obtain their items, but each item is in pristine condition and provided to them wrapped within a thin set of furs as a thanks for their purchase.

Are we talking here or in my lifetime? [Because Mark wants to gauge how much of a smart-ass answer about maturity he's about to get.]

[ He rolls his eyes, not skimping on the sarcasm. ]

Here would be more helpful than somewhere else. You know, since we're here, this — [ He gestures to the computer. ] — is here, and its owner's here. I mean, unless you can phone a friend interdimensionally and get them to cough up some tactful advice.

I can't just bring this to someone else. I just had a huge fight with her over privacy, I'd be the world's biggest hypocrite!

And dude, if I had one of those, I wouldn't still be here. At least not full time, anyway.

[manofiron]

[ From the moment he turned eighteen, Tony knew one thing beyond a shadow of a doubt: never get involved with anyone under eighteen. They aren't talking flirtations and making out under the bleachers here, but there's a lot of questionable content on this laptop and Tony, never being one for the whole Lolita thing, knows he has to tread carefully lest through his unique brand of dumb luck, he ends up caught up in whatever the hell's going on with this girl. ]

How about a compromise? I pay you, literally, to deliver this thing to her because I bought it, poked around in it, saw who it belonged to, but I'm busy and don't have time to play UPS.

[shorttempered]

Are you serious? We saw it, and we have a responsibility to, I don't know, say... something!

[manofiron]

[ Tony decides that he doesn't much care for all this we business. ]

So go ahead. [ Closing the laptop, he pushes it over toward Mark. ] Be responsible.

[shorttempered]

[Crosses his arms and glares at him.] We.

[manofiron]

[ He points his finger back at him. ]

You.

[shorttempered]

What kind of man are you, seeing that and doing nothing?! [He really didn't care that he was making a scene.]

[manofiron]

I'm not really sure what you think I should be doing about it. Stage an intervention? Sit her down and give her the birds and bees discussion? It's not my place or my responsibility. I barely know the girl. You think any of that is a good idea? You do it.

[shorttempered]

[Mark would be lying if he wasn't thinking about punching Tony in the face. The only thing stopping him was the realization that he hadn't punched another human being in a long time, and worried his strength might cause him to do something he would regret.

Instead, he rips the laptop from Tony's hands.] Tony Stark, you are about the worst person I've met in a long time. I don't know how the hell you can just sit there thinking you can just wipe your hands of this! Aren't you supposed to be a hero or something? Or is that just the other Tony? Because if you are, some goddamn hero. [Turns his back to walk away. He's done trying to get Tony to do the right thing.]

[manofiron]

[ It’s the comparison to the other Tony Stark that does it. Ordinarily, he would have had some response to that. Something irreverent, maybe, or sarcastic. But something. The comparison stops him, narrows his eyes, and wipes whatever comment he would have made from his tongue. ]

Life’s full of disappointments.

[ His tone is flat and emotionless as he too turns away to leave. ]

You’ll get used to it.

[ Without another word, he sets off without a destination. Where doesn't matter. All he cares about is getting away. ]
