Event | Landfall | Bresilyk | Markutte

OOC Post | Approved Items | Special Gifts
Aihsohlow | Phorezton | Markutte | Countryside
The commerce town of the tried. Temperatures within the dome are kept at a lofty 18C (62F) year round and the population of Markutte dresses less in furs and more in linens obtained through trade. Their long hair is frequently shorn short in the current fashion and they are, on the whole, less hardy than their kin in Phorezton and Aihsohlow, but even more friendly as they are currently in the throes of the Harvest Haul, a festival that concludes their rare growing seasons and agricultural bounties.
Trade. That's the foundation of Markutte and there are three town squares that are home to transient stalls and merchandise from the country and all surviving areas of Konryu. Many kedan have made their way here and occupy the occasional stall space, selling their wares and exchanging gifts with the citizens as they grasp the nature of the festival underway. Once again, visitors that make the trek here are expected to donate a gift that will be regifted at random, earning access and a stamp of their tin visa that resembles the oblong crystal coin used as currency in this realm.
Police are on the lookout for financial crimes here and will demand visas of any they suspect to be committed fraud, short-selling merchants, or thieving in any way, shape, or form. There are three vistas, one in each market square, upon which heralds stand and announce the crimes and punishments noted of the previous day. Minor theft is common and the punishment is a brand upon the criminal's neck; major theft results in a loss of a finger for each item stolen; fraud here is punishable by death, but only twice will there be an announcement of an execution during the landfall.
The auctions here are quite lively and characters can expect a minor bidding war to obtain their items, but each item is in pristine condition and provided to them wrapped within a thin set of furs as a thanks for their purchase.

"Did you have a run-in with him or something?"

But now she's back to square one, and she has her costume in her backpack, which she's gripping a shoulder strap of just slightly harder. ...Wait, hang on, she said she lived with him. The Peter here hadn't said anything about any Avas, and as far as she knew about her dad, well, she didn't know about any girls named Ava either. Then again, he hid plenty from her.
Was this some kind of universal constant?
"Sorry, I had no idea." It's a bit of a defensive reply- how was she supposed to know?- but she's trying to not take it as an insult. For now, at least. Ava's no Simone so far, after all.

"If it makes you feel any better, he had no idea who I was."

She's also wondering exactly how much this other girl knows; after all, she said she lived with him, and while she knows her dad kept his identity pretty well hidden, it doesn't mean it applies to all versions of him.
no subject
"So. What superheroes do you guys have in your universe?" Subtle, Ava.

And not in a good way. "Nova? Seriously?" She folds her arms across her chest and scowls, not at May so much as the universe in general. "That is totally unfair!"
It's only after her outburst she remembers about secret identities. "I mean, um..." She searches her mind for a reasonable explanation for that little scene, but comes up with nothing.

Whoa girl, May wasn't expecting that. To be fair she didn't know what she was expecting, but it definitely wasn't a reaction to Nova like that. While he could definitely be a condescending jerk, even May could hardly deny he was a pro. It's not exactly like there's a really wide circle of options for people who'd find Nova being... something? around still, she guesses? unfair.
"Yeaaah. Does Peter know?" Know what, exactly, she has no idea, but she did say she lives with him. Her him. Alternate dimensions! When she got back she was calling dibs on staying off any Avengers missions that involved glowing portals or alternate dimensions that they needed help with.

She taps her fingers against the strap of her backpack a bit. "I don't know." May doesn't know what Ava goes by, or went by. "Nova is a pretty big name, he's around for decades at this point."
Which isn't touching on Spider-Man at all.

"I think this is a good time to point out that if Nova's been around for decades, and he's contemporaries with Spider-Man..."
She drifts off for a moment because outright admitting that teenaged Peter Parker's a version of her dad is going way far into the realm of the bizarre.
"Like I said, with the cousin thing. It's complicated."

She steps back into the side street she was in, as she unslings her backpack from her shoulders. "How about we start over from the beginning, now that we both know the other knows who Spider-Man is?"

She unzips her pack and reaches into it, pulling out her mask.
"As for me, I'm the first Spider-Girl, though I did inherit my webs from my dad."
Now to see how the other girl takes this...

"Yeah, my dad."
Any moment now...
