OOC Post | Approved Items | Special Gifts
Aihsohlow | Phorezton | Markutte | Countryside

The commerce town of the tried. Temperatures within the dome are kept at a lofty 18C (62F) year round and the population of Markutte dresses less in furs and more in linens obtained through trade. Their long hair is frequently shorn short in the current fashion and they are, on the whole, less hardy than their kin in Phorezton and Aihsohlow, but even more friendly as they are currently in the throes of the Harvest Haul, a festival that concludes their rare growing seasons and agricultural bounties.

Trade. That's the foundation of Markutte and there are three town squares that are home to transient stalls and merchandise from the country and all surviving areas of Konryu. Many kedan have made their way here and occupy the occasional stall space, selling their wares and exchanging gifts with the citizens as they grasp the nature of the festival underway. Once again, visitors that make the trek here are expected to donate a gift that will be regifted at random, earning access and a stamp of their tin visa that resembles the oblong crystal coin used as currency in this realm.

Police are on the lookout for financial crimes here and will demand visas of any they suspect to be committed fraud, short-selling merchants, or thieving in any way, shape, or form. There are three vistas, one in each market square, upon which heralds stand and announce the crimes and punishments noted of the previous day. Minor theft is common and the punishment is a brand upon the criminal's neck; major theft results in a loss of a finger for each item stolen; fraud here is punishable by death, but only twice will there be an announcement of an execution during the landfall.

The auctions here are quite lively and characters can expect a minor bidding war to obtain their items, but each item is in pristine condition and provided to them wrapped within a thin set of furs as a thanks for their purchase.

"He's family, actually." Her running into Peter beforehand could do it too, now that Ava's brought him up. That would make more sense than what she assumed before- all the paranoid people she spends time with has to be rubbing off on her.

"Did you have a run-in with him or something?"

"If by 'had a run-in with him' you mean 'live with him back in New York' then yeah, kind of." That is more sarcasm than May really deserves, but Ava's sick to death of everyone forgetting about her.

Ouch, girl! Exactly how many girls did Peter Parker- any version of Peter Parker- know? She's starting to feel like she did the time she ended up time travelling and ended up invited by Aunt May into a living room full of girls all waiting for him.

But now she's back to square one, and she has her costume in her backpack, which she's gripping a shoulder strap of just slightly harder. ...Wait, hang on, she said she lived with him. The Peter here hadn't said anything about any Avas, and as far as she knew about her dad, well, she didn't know about any girls named Ava either. Then again, he hid plenty from her.

Was this some kind of universal constant?

"Sorry, I had no idea." It's a bit of a defensive reply- how was she supposed to know?- but she's trying to not take it as an insult. For now, at least. Ava's no Simone so far, after all.
superoverachiever: ([Mischief] Friendly)

[personal profile] superoverachiever 2014-02-07 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Nobody does. Like I said." She takes a deep breath and puts on a smile. "So, uhh, how are you related to him?" And do you know about him being Spider-Man? She's not sure how to verbalize that second question, though.
daughteroftheoriginal: ([May] Awkward much?)

[personal profile] daughteroftheoriginal 2014-02-07 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
"It's complicated." Completely truthful. "He's from another universe from me, and the best we can figure out is that we're cousins." Not so truthful. And pretty vague. But being specific or truthful? Probably not the best idea.

"If it makes you feel any better, he had no idea who I was."
superoverachiever: ([Displeased] Sulky)

[personal profile] superoverachiever 2014-02-10 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
"Cousin, huh? He never mentioned that at home either." She frowns. "His parents are dead, and I don't think his Aunt May had kids. And it'd be weird if you were her daughter and named after her and not named junior..." She's taking May at her word, but still working to puzzle it out.
daughteroftheoriginal: ([May] So about that)

[personal profile] daughteroftheoriginal 2014-02-10 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"She doesn't." May just barely manages to not slip up with the tenses. "At least, the one from my world. Like I said, it's complicated, and confusing even for us."

She's also wondering exactly how much this other girl knows; after all, she said she lived with him, and while she knows her dad kept his identity pretty well hidden, it doesn't mean it applies to all versions of him.
superoverachiever: ([Weirded] If you say so...)

[personal profile] superoverachiever 2014-02-13 02:04 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah. I mean, I guess. I can relate."

"So. What superheroes do you guys have in your universe?" Subtle, Ava.
daughteroftheoriginal: ([May] Heh)

[personal profile] daughteroftheoriginal 2014-02-18 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Hoo boy, where to begin?" Ava, don't you know how many superheroes there are in New York alone? "Well as far as teams go, there's always Fantastic Five for starters, and the Avengers." She pauses for a bit. "If yours is like any of the others I've been told about, I think mine's years ahead when it comes to superheroes, in comparison. I'm not sure how many of them you'd actually know about, unless they're ones who've been around for ages, like Speedball or Nova."
superoverachiever: ([Angry] Hands on hips)

[personal profile] superoverachiever 2014-02-18 07:28 am (UTC)(link)
She was planning to comment on the Fantastic Five, but that last namedrop kind of consumes her attention.

And not in a good way. "Nova? Seriously?" She folds her arms across her chest and scowls, not at May so much as the universe in general. "That is totally unfair!"

It's only after her outburst she remembers about secret identities. "I mean, um..." She searches her mind for a reasonable explanation for that little scene, but comes up with nothing.

[personal profile] daughteroftheoriginal 2014-02-21 04:31 am (UTC)(link)

Whoa girl, May wasn't expecting that. To be fair she didn't know what she was expecting, but it definitely wasn't a reaction to Nova like that. While he could definitely be a condescending jerk, even May could hardly deny he was a pro. It's not exactly like there's a really wide circle of options for people who'd find Nova being... something? around still, she guesses? unfair.

"Yeaaah. Does Peter know?" Know what, exactly, she has no idea, but she did say she lives with him. Her him. Alternate dimensions! When she got back she was calling dibs on staying off any Avengers missions that involved glowing portals or alternate dimensions that they needed help with.

superoverachiever: ([Displeased] Lineface)

[personal profile] superoverachiever 2014-02-23 01:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Ava's not sure how to answer that question, exactly, but she can at least take as a suggestion for what else to say. "Peter and Sam would have gotten themselves killed like a dozen times if it wasn't for me." She makes a frustrated noise and leans backwards a little, still pretty worked up. "So how come everybody's heard of them and nobody's heard of me?"
daughteroftheoriginal: ([May] Neutral)

[personal profile] daughteroftheoriginal 2014-02-25 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
One point for team Mayday, since Ava's basically admitted to knowing Peter's Spider-Man (a Peter, at least). Though she wouldn't have placed Nova as being named Sam- it seems a bit too nice for the guy.

She taps her fingers against the strap of her backpack a bit. "I don't know." May doesn't know what Ava goes by, or went by. "Nova is a pretty big name, he's around for decades at this point."

Which isn't touching on Spider-Man at all.
superoverachiever: ([Friendly] But what'd I do)

[personal profile] superoverachiever 2014-02-26 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
"He's -- where I'm from, he's my age. In my class. Actually, he lives with Peter and me too." She wonders what kind of picture she's even painting right now. Maybe backing up and starting over would be a better plan. "Uh. You do know your cousin is Spider-Man, right?"
daughteroftheoriginal: ([May] Unsure)

[personal profile] daughteroftheoriginal 2014-02-26 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
It's a very strange one, that's for sure. And since Ava's definitely in the know...

"I think this is a good time to point out that if Nova's been around for decades, and he's contemporaries with Spider-Man..."

She drifts off for a moment because outright admitting that teenaged Peter Parker's a version of her dad is going way far into the realm of the bizarre.

"Like I said, with the cousin thing. It's complicated."

superoverachiever: ([Weirded] I dunno)

[personal profile] superoverachiever 2014-02-26 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"Wow." Imagining an old Peter is just... weird. "So. Then. What about Iron Fist, Power Man, and White Tiger?" If she's heard of the rest of them, that'll be something, anyway.
daughteroftheoriginal: ([May] Didn't expect this)

[personal profile] daughteroftheoriginal 2014-02-28 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
An old Peter Parker's just her dad. What's really weird and someone she sees on a regular basis? A teenaged Peter Parker. "Those guys? I'm pretty sure they're all retired."
superoverachiever: (Default)

[personal profile] superoverachiever 2014-03-01 02:16 pm (UTC)(link)
"Nuh uh!" Ava's getting accustomed to being immature in this conversation, apparently. "I wouldn't do that."
daughteroftheoriginal: ([May] Neutral)

[personal profile] daughteroftheoriginal 2014-03-06 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Uh... Okay, they're definitely not operating on the same page. "No offense, I'm sure you wouldn't. But you don't exactly look like a guy."

She steps back into the side street she was in, as she unslings her backpack from her shoulders. "How about we start over from the beginning, now that we both know the other knows who Spider-Man is?"
superoverachiever: ([Neutral] I gotcha...)

[personal profile] superoverachiever 2014-03-06 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
"Sure. But that's us. Our SHIELD team, I mean." Okay, yeah, maybe backing up would be good. "Spider-Man, Iron Fist, Power Man, Nova and White Tiger."
daughteroftheoriginal: ([May] Looking over)

[personal profile] daughteroftheoriginal 2014-03-08 07:41 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, even May can pick out the options that aren't really options here, which means... "You're either Iron Fist or White Tiger, I'm guessing?"
superoverachiever: ([Friendly] Am I right?)

[personal profile] superoverachiever 2014-03-10 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"White Tiger. The third one, actually."
daughteroftheoriginal: ([May] Unsure)

[personal profile] daughteroftheoriginal 2014-03-11 06:48 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, that clears a lot more up.

She unzips her pack and reaches into it, pulling out her mask.

"As for me, I'm the first Spider-Girl, though I did inherit my webs from my dad."

Now to see how the other girl takes this...
superoverachiever: ([Neutral] I gotcha...)

[personal profile] superoverachiever 2014-03-13 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
"Hold on a minute." Two things: one, she's pretty sure the webs are something Peter manufactures. And two... "Your dad?"
daughteroftheoriginal: (Default)

[personal profile] daughteroftheoriginal 2014-03-13 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
She can practically see the gears turning.

"Yeah, my dad."

Any moment now...
