Characters: Dick Grayson the elder, Shayera Hol, and Kyle Rayner.
Date: Dec 8th.
Location: A restaurant in the Fire Sector.
Situation: Kyle sets Dick and Shayera up on an awesome date.
Warnings/Rating: C for cheesiness.
[ The fact were thus: their lives in Keeliai were sorely lacking in shenanigans. He wasn't much into this sort of thing at home - John and Merayn hadn't been the type, Wally and Roy were perfectly adept at pulling these by themselves - but admittedly he'd derived much more joy than expected coming up with the whole thing. It was a very cunning plan, one so sly he was certain it could level up to being a fox in no time. ]
[ The question was not catching Dick off-guard. Kyle was fairly certain the man would fall for his polite invitation (a trick of the highest order!). No, the real problem was getting Shayera out of the house, in the appropriate attire. ]
[ He managed that, of course. A little of Jim's recklessness added to his own meant it was a piece of cake - he just needed to avoid her wrath. He had full confidence he would, but he couldn't deny he'd enjoy seeing her face. (Maybe he'd hide in the bushes with binoculars and popcorn.) ]
[ And so, through a series of mysterious and suspicious coincidences, the details of which shall remain obscured so that none may use them against the two in question ever again, it turned out that Dick and Shayera had been led to a fancy restaurant in the heart of the Fire Sector, to find that there was a table for two and a meal paid for, signed by a certain Green Lantern, with the postscript in Thanagarian: You may thank me later ;) ]

Really, cheesecake? I wouldn't have guessed that, actually. [Learning so many new things! Another new thing, and all new things were a good thing. He leans back in his chair, checking out the rest of the menu while watching her at the same time.
He was tempted to say to hell with it, and either get out of here with take out, or it was time to find a good burger joint. That didn't sell tribble burgers.]

(Don't think she doesn't see you watching her. But she won't say anything about it for now. Embarrassment comes later. Now is the time for food. Or going to get Chinese takeout, one of the two.)
I know, I know, I couldn't resist though <3
[He leaned forward again, setting the menu flat down on the table and putting both elbows on the table. Cradling his head, he grinned at her.]
So, I know we just got here and everything... but do you think they do take out? Unless you really do want to stay here all dressed up-- not that you can't stay all dressed up! But these chairs are kind of hard.

(This is actually going quite a lot better than Shayera previously anticipated. Mostly a lot more awkward than outright flirting would take place, but this is good.) Well, if you have it too often, it stops being a treat. Maybe every few weeks.
(Oh thank god, Shayera thought he'd never ask. She set down her own menu, giving him a rather relieved grin herself.) Hell, I'd be fine with blowing the join entirely and just getting Chinese or something.
(Kyle needs to pick better places, tbh. But there is a very devilish wink after that.) Depends if you want me in the dress. Or out of it.
