[So of course he has to go say hallo.]
Save some for the rest of us!

Frankly, even if I weren't inclined to, I doubt it would matter. She seems a generous sort.
[Would you like to get bumped by an enthusiastic baby turtle, Kyle? Because you might not have a choice.]
no subject
They all are. Picked a name yet?
no subject
[His smile is wry; he knows he mentioned the name of the city to Kyle, and maybe even that it was in that province that he died. Of course, omitting the mention of Isana and baby might make his contentment with the name a little incomprehensible.]
Not what I'd have chosen, left to myself--but it's probably for the best. [He rubs Riva's shell soothingly.]
no subject
[He smirks, teasingly. Sep has his secrets and Kyle doesn't care for them - they've both seen their fair share of horrors and why bring it up here? When it was in another world and far away?]
Has she eaten yet? [A beat.] More importantly, have you?
no subject
[Septimus just seems amused, and truthfully, he doesn't think he's a compulsive secret-keeper. He is not always entirely self-aware. Still, the question makes him huff half in exasperation, half in fond familiarity. Kyle is so much like some of his friends back home.]
Her eating well and regularly is the more critical issue. I do know how to pace myself. [He skips sleep more readily than meals.] But yes, we both have.
no subject
[Oh, Sep doesn't keep things, necessarily, he just needs to be prodded along now and then. Kyle enjoys it. There's a sense of brotherhood with the man that Kyle might attribute to both of them being soldiers of a kind, but whatever it is, he enjoys it there, and someday he thinks he'll be very grateful for it.]
Good to hear. You mind if I — ?
[He gestures to the turtle, indicating he'd like to climb on.]
no subject
[From the man who nearly drowned Kyle once, and still hasn't precisely clarified what his magic could do in his native setting... sure. Not many surprises.
He laughs again and leaps down lightly from her back.] Go ahead, I'm not the one you need to ask. I should stretch my legs, though--I'm not made to be folded up for prolonged periods.
no subject
Folded up, he says, and then locks himself in for a week. [Said lightly, as he climbs on to the turtle's back, and receives a delighted telepathic message as well as directions to the nearest snowslope. It's a veiled jab, an encouragement to deal with the root of the problem. Sep's not alone. Kyle'd like to remind him of that at every opportunity.]
no subject
Mildly:] I had legitimate work to do. [Totally his motivation.] I'll keep you two company, so lead the way.
no subject
[He nudges the hatchling, and she moves excitedly. Kyle, surprised by the ease of her movements, nearly falls off, but there's a delighted smile on his face.]
no subject
[Even so, it's a half-hearted protest. The memories have weight heavily on him the last week or so. Watching Kyle nearly fall off makes him snicker and begin nudging at Riva as he follows them. Maybe he can encourage her to actually make Kyle fall off.
Yes, he sometimes has a sadistic sense of humor. Family trait.]

[Dude, laughing at his misery is not cool B( He keeps a good grip, wondering how ridiculous he'll look if he adds a cowboy hat to his current ensemble of... civilian clothes.]
no subject
Well, the hospital isn't going to plan itself.
[He breaks into a trot to keep up with them.]
no subject
How big d'you want that thing anyway, if it hasn't been built yet?
no subject
Septimus tilts his head, measuring.]
How long does building such things take in your world?

One: We began truly concrete discussions two and a half months ago, more or less. Approximately a month later I met with Eshai on the subject. [A shadow passes over his face briefly. Riva takes a moment to headbutt him in comfort; luckily Septimus figures it out soon enough to grab a rock and pull on enough earthcrafting to not get knocked over.] That was how we secured the location.
Two: Architecture can take time to determine, especially if it isn't to a base standard design. This one certainly is not, by the standards of any of our worlds, I think.
Three: Raising a building requires materials to raise it with. Stone doesn't go as deep here, and other materials for building are a little hard to come by. Our stop at land helped with that, but that was a good two weeks later.
[He's on a roll here, clearly, and partially thinking out loud. There is a reason he's been working on this so hard--and so enthusiastically.]
