oh my god here we go
But he doesn't want to go shopping two days out of the week, so he frowns at the list.
Memorizing it, he goes in search of Clara and locates her in the bathroom, knocking on the door to get her attention since water is running and, well, he learned from Nyota a long time ago that being naked in the shower is supposedly wildly different from anywhere else and demands privacy. (It's such a silly illogical thing; as if his interest is remotely physical if he ever needs to talk. And why do humans feel embarrassment when naked, in any case? Do they assume people will pay that sort of thing the slightest bit of attention? Declare the encounter in a public forum that bears no relevance? Spock doesn't bother investigating these nuances.) With Clara, he suspects this rule is even more firmly in place and talks through the wood. ]
Clara. Why have you stipulated I must make regular outings to the market in order to replenish supplies twice a week? If people are consuming more than is adequately satisfactory in meeting their dietary requirements, should the responsibility not fall to said individual?
Welcome to a new life stage everyone
Twice a week for four people is completely necessary to make sure everyone can actually eat dinner at night. No sense in everyone trying to cook for themselves. The kitchen will end up a complete disaster.

[ There is Complete Sense in everyone cooking for themselves, psh. Sassing his way out of this? You bet. ]

[Nope. She will not take your sass Mr. Spock.]

[ !!! Not! Going! ]

[She huffs.]
Men. Honestly.

[ Back to the point, though. ]
I would not presume to know which ingredients would be better favored by each person. [ Also, let's insert some Logic here. ] It will be a more efficient use of time for each individual to purchase that which they themselves know to be of satisfactory value instead of a solitary effort that owns a greater likelihood of needing correction.

[She wraps the towel tighter around herself and opens the door so they can talk face to face at least. It seems polite if they're having a debate. Clearly, her desire to win this argument has eclipsed any concerns about modesty or embarrassment.]
Alright, give you that one. Though the kitchen isn't large enough for everyone to be in all at once. So we'd need to take turns. And also make sure that everyone cleans up properly. At least we might have to do cleaning duty.
no subject
[ He meets her eyes when the door opens. ]
I have no objection to cleaning up the utensils I use. Have I mistakenly given you the impression otherwise?

[She laughs a little because she just finds Spock charming in his devotion to logic. She leans against the door frame and wraps her arms around herself. There are bruises on the pale skin of her shoulders and arms from where her turtle baby has knocked her to the ground.]
No. But when you have multiple people living in a house, you've got to take extra steps to make sure everything is cleaned properly. One of the things I learned in University.

When co-habiting with Lieutenant Uhura aboard the Enterprise, we did not discuss "extra steps".

Everyone's going more directions, it's less coordinated. More people, more mess.

You are making pre-emptive assumptions regarding the manner in which you believe the rest of us will perform.

[ Now he's just being pedantic and not particularly sounding apologetic about it. ]

Eridan does not have a job. Can he not be given this task? I do not intend to spend a great deal of time in this house while my research is at the stage it is.
no subject
Which is why, if you read the chart, he has far more chores than the rest of us. Plus doing chores builds character. Which he sorely needs.

[she moves to raise her arms in defeat but decides it's a bad idea to considering the towel.]
I'll cover yours.
no subject
Is this an inconvenient solution?
no subject
[She shrugs and gives him a smile as if that will help convince him that she is really okay with this.]
Didn't mean to... overstep my boundaries. I get... [She closes and uncloses her fingers.] controlling. A bit.

Can't say no to that deal. I'll cook dinner for us both. Everyone else can eat too if they want.
