[Kristoff starts his search off close to home, or what they expect him to be his home here -- it's short a few dozen trolls and Sven, but he guesses it's a start. The thing is, he's been inseparable from Sven the Reindeer since he was eight and he refuses to believe that this emperor dude would bring him and not the other half of this dynamic duo.

That'd be why he's checking out every fountain, snow drift, and entryway to see if Sven is hanging out in there. And, yeah, that means he's probably just stuck his head into YOUR house to say:]

Hey, you seen a reindeer around here?

[Word from the kedan in the Water Sector said that they'd seen strange things for sale on the mainlaind at their last visit, but being turtlebound, Kristoff is going for the next best thing: Marketplaces.

That's why he's hitting up every marketplace there happens to be available, asking for livestock. And carrots. Maybe he's got a bunch in hand when you see him, but he's got one thing in mind that's more important than that. Expect him to ask vendors and, really, anyone presenting half an ounce of intelligence the following question:]

Do you know where they sell the reindeer?

[It's a super srs question, kthk.]

[Farms. Ranches. Kristoff is exploring any property that looks like it could sustain a reindeer and it's resulting in some very interesting altercations with swizards and other local fauna that look nothing like reindeer.

Happen to see him standing there and rubbing his bottom while glaring at a swizard? How about trying to sort through some sort of sheep/cow hybrid that's grown a winter coat three times its size to see if there's a reindeer beneath? Maybe he's standing there and holding up two big branches against a kirin and attempting to (forlornly) hold a conversation with it as though it's a reindeer? Then, by all means, interrupt him because he seriously needs to lay off this search.]

[Hans is in pretty high spirits recently. He's not thrilled knowing Elsa is here, but overall he's enjoying it here quite a bit. He's pretty upbeat as he walks along the marketplace, keeping up that friendly show by smiling and nodding at most anyone.

That is until he happens upon a remarkably familiar figure no more than a few steps away and he sort of makes a quiet grunt and tries to walk in reverse away from the other man.]

[You don't look like a reindeer, Hans, and that is a Sad Fact (tm), but Kristoff recognises the attire as being something similar to his own set of norms -- well, for a troll-raised guy -- but the fact that you're not dressed in skintight leotard and a cape, frankly, makes you the next best thing to a reindeer.]

Hey, hold up! [It's not a command, he's just really busy searching something out:] You! Have you seen a reindeer for sale around here?

[Because he has yet to have any introduction to Prince Hans, much less the whole truth about the lies and all.]

[He's glad he doesn't look like a reindeer, to be perfectly honest. He'd be truly worried if he did. He tenses a little as Kristoff calls out to him, keeping a straight face as he waits for the inevitable punch.

..And that's definitely not it. A brow twitches at the question, but he's quick to roll with it and he shakes his head.]

I don't believe I have, no. Granted, I wasn't on the lookout for one, but I imagine they'd be hard to miss. [He forces a polite laugh.] Are you missing one?

[Sorry to say, Hans, but you'd make a pretty ugly reindeer tbqh. No offense, but this guy? Is a bit of a reindeer expert and all. I mean, look at the username and that says it all. ~~That he's a bit psychotic maybe.~~

Kristoff scratches the top of his head, shoving his cap askew as he looks around, flabbergasted as to where Sven could be.]

Yeah. A big guy too. Answers to Sven?

[That's not a hopeful tone. That is Not. Hope. But, seriously, HAVE YOU SEEN HIS REINDEER?]

[By that logic, he's a handsome human. Hans is very flattered Kristoff thinks that way, if only their internal dialogue weren't keeping them apart.

Luckily Hans is quick on his feet, otherwise this situation might have thrown him even more. Kristoff doesn't remember him or really doesn't seem to know him at all, so it's just the perfect chance to score points by being friendly.]

It's not ringing any bells, I'm sorry. [He gives him a sympathetic look.] I'd be happy to help you search for him. I mean- I haven't been here long, but I haven't seen you around either. I thought you might be new.

[Oh, the pains of an internal monologue never quite being external. They shall just have to become telepaths and prance off into the sunset together.

Er.]

Help?

[Kristoff blinks. This is a thing that happens frequently, being natural and all, but this time it is quite distinct and linked to... shock? Awe? Strange suspicion? Nothing against Hans, but helping Anna did ruin his sled and he's not sure he has the heart to ruin someone else's sled for the sake of Sven.]

Uh, sure. Help. [What harm could it do? Relax, Kristoff, this is a human thing. Helping. Right.] Maybe if we got some carrots. [A thoughtful rumination that, but then it occurs to him that, yes, he is quite new.]

And new is definitely a thing. New and... [Oh man, deep breath. Man up.] Completely out my depth. And job. [A gesture to the snow around them. SOB, how's he going to make a living with all this ice.] I know ice and reindeer, not giant turtles. [And his name. Honest.] Kristoff. [This is probably where they should shake hands. Huh. HOW DOES SOCIAL GRACES.]

[Hans feels a little more at ease to raise a brow at Kristoff now, because he is genuinely acting weird and not just because it's contrary to what Hans knows of him.

He nods slowly, smiling again as Kristoff wraps his head around the concept.]

Carrots sound like a sure start. [He's so helpful.] Believe me, most everyone here will know how you feel on some level. Very few people are happy to be here. [Well, he is. But Kristoff doesn't need to know that. He briefly considers giving Kristoff a fake name, but figures it will all come back to him anyway. Better to be 'honest' from the start.] Prince Hans of the Southern Isles-- oh! [He shoots a hand out in front of him, peasant etiquette is hard.]

[Weird. Weird. Everything here is weird, sob. Where are the trolls. He could deal with trolls.]

How do we even get here? [Happens to be the next question, but then... OH WAIT.]

The Prince Hans? Of the Southern Isles?

[That's shock in his tone and then, well, HANDSHAKE, YES. Kristoff's grip is firm and he looks him over, then a brief panic hits.] Anna! Did she reach you in time?

I...Well? It's complicated. I'm still getting my head around it myself.. Didn't they explain it all to you too? [He looks skeptical, but then he shakes it off at the dreaded recognition.

THINK FAST.]

Yes? Oh.. [He acts all surprised when Kristoff recognises, though he strains as he mentions Anna.] It's complicated. Though you'll be glad to know she makes it out alive.

[One of the people whose entryways he happens to check belongs to one Arthur Curry, who is just heading out with a small bowl under his arm containing a betta fish (they're going out to shop for fish-houses, he wants his own space in Arthur's pool). He's not dressed for the cold weather, in just armored-looking pants and a shark tooth necklace, but he seems comfortable despite the temperature.

At the question, he blinks for a moment, and shakes his head.] No, I haven't seen any reindeer. Are you looking for a particular one?

[Elsa has been visiting the market place, for something to do while she job hunted, to see things that she never had before-- and because she needed fresh air. Being cooped up in her room wasn't doing her a lot of favors, at the moment, and really-- she was just getting used to being outdoors and among so many people.

So when someone approaches her she's not as thrown as she'd normally have been--

No, I haven't--[until she realizes who it is] Kristoff??

[give her a moment. Panic and elatement will both settle in at once soon]

[Well, the marketplace in Earth Sector is pretty reindeer-free. What it does have is one teenager bundled up in the cold.

Congrats, Kristoff, it's your very first black person!]

Uh, I don't think they have reindeer on the turtle...

[Rapunzel still wasn't up to buying much in the markets after buying Pascal back from the last auction. His company had been worth every penny, but they were just barely scraping by now. Not that she'd tell anyone.

But that's what brought her to the market today. Just the essentials. Some fruit, mostly for Pascal, but a little for her, and some basic ingredients for bread. She had everything bundled up in a small brown parcel when she was stopped by Kristoff. She gives him a surprised look, but doesn't take the question any less seriously.]

Reindeer? I don't really know...

[Snow. There's a lot more snow in this area than in any other area, and- Well, Anna can really only assume that snow = Elsa. More snow means she's getting close! Right? Right! Which is why she's also walking around the Water Sector, pausing every now and again to peer at the windows of a house to see how frost-covered they are. More frost must mean more proximity to Elsa.

So far, though, no luck in that department. But what she does see is a familiar outfit poking his head into a house a few doors down from her, and instantly Anna brightens. She jumps up, waving her arms (because that's sure to catch his attention) and shouting.] Kristoff!

[And she takes off in a run to catch up with him. Who cares what he's doing at the moment; Anna asked for help to find Elsa and with the sheer amount of snow around here, Elsa's got to be here, which means Kristoff is going to help her because he agreed to back home.]

[Kristoff hangs his head at the response, letting out a short, frustrated breath. That makes four places without Sven and leaves him forty thousand to go, but he's not about to give up.]

Yeah. [He straightens up and holds a hand up to about head level.] He's my height. Shaggy. Goes by the name Sven?

[Not like a guy that hasn't seen a reindeer would be helped by that, but --]

Is that a fish?

[Hang on, pointing at the fish bowl. And the weird clothing. Oooooookay...]

[The kedan within shake their head and he's back to being up the North Mountain without a reindeer. Kristoff mutters a thanks and is about to withdraw his head when he hears a very Anna-esque voice calling his name.

Anna? Wait.]

Anna?!

[Better. Only not, because he suddenly straightens up and smacks his head on the frame of the doorway.]

Ouch!

[He withdraws, rubbing his head and-- Anna, right! He looks around for her.]

Anna! What are you doing here?

[The refrain of his question is getting tired and old, to the point that the enthusiasm of his voice has died down and he's not quite paying attention to who he's asking it of. Which explains why he walked right up to Queen Elsa herself without cluing in, but WHOA the calling of his name catches his attention and he focuses on he.]

Queen Elsa?

[Yeah. He's, uh. Gaping.]

[The response confirms it; That's definitely Kristoff. Beaming, she picks up the pace a little more.]

I should be asking you that! I'm looking for my sister and you're supposed to be hel-

[She's practically reached Kristoff when it happens. She completely slips on a patch of ice, and she lets out a startled yelp as she hits the ground butt first. Wincing, she reaches back to rub at where it hurts.]

Ow...

[He can't help but feel a little sympathetic. He must be awfully attached to this reindeer if he's looking for it this hard.] I can't say I've seen him, but I'll let you know if I ever do. I hope you find him, if he's here.

[He glances down casually at the fish in the bowl and nods.] His name is Nemo. We're going to pick out fish-sized houses for the pool so he and Verne can stop fighting over territory.

Kristoff, it is you!

[oh god she could hug him. But that wouldn't be appropriate... Or would it... Okay she's known him for all of like ten minutes and those first 30 seconds she sent a huge ice ogre at him so she's gonna say its inappropriate to hug him right now.

Okay but wait wait. Wait. Kristoff is here so--]

Is Anna here with you?

[Kristoff crosses his arms and frowns, shaking his head while he's at it. Figures. One more negative reply and he's at his wits end, meanwhile this coal worker forgot to bathe before he came out today. Really? People are supposed to smell better than reindeer, hello.]

I don't buy it. What kind of place doesn't have reindeer?

[Because they are totally better than people.]

[Kristoff huffed a sigh and reached up, scratching at his head beneath his cap.]

Then, do you know where the livestock's kept?

[She shakes her head.]

I don't. But maybe you could try asking the Kedan in the market that sell milk or other dairy items? I'm sure they must know where there's livestock.

[You have no idea, Arthur. Actually, wait. You're probably the one person on this turtle that could understand, but back to the point. A fish. Named. And a guy talking about the fish having territorial disputes like it ain't no thang.

Finally, someone sane.]

That's tricky. What happens if Verne likes the new house and ousts Nemo?

Um, lots of places. [Brooklyn certainly has no reindeer.] Cities, giant... freaky turtles?

Are you looking for any particular reason?

[That's Anna all right. Kristoff shakes his head and smiles at that, the ache in his head and the search for Sven forgotten as he leans forward to help her up. Or pick her up, really, because she's light like that and easy to set back on her feet.]

Careful there, feisty.

[He looks her over, noting that her hair is (thankfully) not nearly as white as when he last saw it. Seems that Hans was right about her being better. Thank the heavens for that; he lets out a relieved sigh for it.]

And I've been looking for Sven. [That's his protest to her accusation, because PRIORITIES.] Have you seen him? [Said as he looks over her head for signs of the reindeer.]

[Complicated? Complicated. That he can get, because let's face it: A sibling quarrel causing the entire kingdom to be frozen in winter is in and of itself complicated, so any complication therein should really be, er, complicated.

Kristoff frees a heavy sigh and then the hand of Prince Hans so that he can press the heel of his palm against his forehead.]

That's good. And I mean good. [In a good way. He sort-of smiles.] When Queen Elsa froze her heart... [He trails off, then shakes his head. Don't think of what might have been, only what is.] True love won out in the end.

[That -- why does the queen know his name? Did Marshmallow beat it out of him somewhere along the way? Snow interrogation techniques could be a thing and he did hit his head trying to escape. Well, Anna caused his head to be hit, but... semantics.]

Anna? [Blink-blink.] No, I brought her to Prince Hans before-- [A beat and a gesture around.] All this. [His hand drops back to his side.]

[He totally could understand. He's got this thing with dolphins. It's a little weird.]

The plan is to get two exactly the same, and put them on opposite sides of the pool. Nemo only gets to pick them out because Verne was biting at his fins this morning. Bettas. [Accompanied by a 'what're you gonna do' sigh.]

I don't think I've seen you around before. Are you new to the Water Sector?
