[Open] Catch All for January

Characters: Michaelangelo and Aya, Michaelangelo and you?
Date: All up in January's face.
Location: Wood and Fire sectors respectively.
Situation: Teaching kids in the Dojo, busting heads in an abandoned warehouse
Warnings/Rating: Six of gorgeously green AI and adorable small children, a half dozen of unhealthy coping mechanisms.

Aya did not respond. Instead, she turned her attention back to the Kilowog construct. It turned around to directly face Mike. Eyes narrowing. Lips snarling. Within seconds, a large hammer appeared in its hands in a matching bright, green shade.

A few light swings of the hammer against his palm delivered a nonverbal message he otherwise could not convey.

In a flash Mike is in a defensive position, hands raised, feet in a strong stance.

Until he realize there's no actual attack. At least not yet.

"That. Is the coolest. Thing. I have ever seen."

[looksfine]

"Thank you. I will be certain to pass along your compliments should I encounter him in-person once more."

The construct faded away, as Aya pulled the Energy back into her person. She had no intentions of actually attacking MIke. Not unless he requested it for training purposes. The exercise had simply been a way of modeling some of the Sergeant's known mannerisms.

"Was my demonstration satisfactory?"

[michaeljangelo]

"I'll say!"

As the construct disassembles, so too does Mike stance.

"Man...the pranks I would play if I had access to a thing like that..."

[looksfine]

"The Energy of a Green Lantern is a highly respectable tool, and one that is not to be taken lightly. Only those who have been chosen may wield it's power."

A pause, to allow for the weight of her words to sink in, before she adds:

"...as such, you would not be able to play any of these pranks of yours without a Lantern present."

[michaeljangelo]

"Oh I'd never abuse a power like that," he starts right about as she pauses...and then...just smiles when she starts talking again.

"Oh? What would the likelihood of a Lantern being present for such a thing?

[looksfine]

"That would depend upon the relative population of the Turtle. As of currently, I am aware of Four Green Lanterns present in Keelai."

(And, let's be honest, all four of them have a chance of being willing participants in one way or another.)

[michaeljangelo]

A slow, mischievous smile works its way across Mike's face.

"I'm going to need their names and addresses just in case. For emergency purposes."

[looksfine]

"I am sorry. That is privileged information I am not at liberty to divulge without direct authorization from my superior."

Sorry, Mike. She could be stubborn and rebellious at times, yes, but only when authority figures give her a reason to not completely respect them. Thus far, she had ever reason to continue to listen to Kyle's orders.

"However, I can tell you that all four of us will respond to a request for a Green Lantern's assistance."

[michaeljangelo]

Well that just deflates him right on the spot.

"Is there like...a signal light or something? To call them, I mean. Should I need them."

What?! It can't hurt to ask!

[looksfine]

"The Network should prove sufficient."

[michaeljangelo]

"Well yeah, but...you've got to admit a signal would have style."

Mike might love Batman a bit too much.

[looksfine]

Aya only had second-hand information, at best, as to who Batman even was. Even then, only through the multiple files she had downloaded from Kyle's information database. Otherwise, she wouldn't know the name at all.

"I will pass along your suggestion to Honor Guard Rayner."

[michaeljangelo]

"That's the guy I talked to, right? Cool. He seemed like a nice guy."

Of course...Mike's criteria for nice guy is pretty much anyone who doesn't scream when they see him, try to kill him on sight, or give him the creeps right off the bat.

He hasn't exactly been spoiled for choice, when it comes to meeting people.

"Have you known him long?

[looksfine]

She smiled warmly at the compliment, taking pride in others finding good qualities in her superior. She liked Kyle, too. He was kind to her. Patient. He had the heart of a Green Lantern, for certain, and saw her as she wanted to be seen. If not quite an equal (he did outrank her), then a trusted ally.

"Long is highly relative. I have known Kyle for nearly the full duration of my stay in Keelai. However, we have never been acquainted in our respective worlds of origin."

[michaeljangelo]

"Yeah, I totally know how that's like. Is he from your version of your world, or is he from his own? I only ask because I've got other versions of my brothers here, and it makes things...interesting."

[looksfine]

A shake of the head, and for a moment, she looked...sad.

"No. Kyle and I hail from different worlds. As do each of the Hal Jordans that currently reside here. None of them are the Hal Jordan that I had traveled with for the majority of my existence."

[michaeljangelo]

His smile falls a bit.

"I'm sorry. I know how frustrating that can be."

[looksfine]

"Actually, I do not find it, or them, frustrating. Each Hal Jordan has been very kind to me, and displaying no outer signs of hostility or malice towards my presence."

That didn't mean she still didn't miss her own family. The ones who had seen her grow and blossom into the young robot she was now.

[michaeljangelo]

"No? Guess it's just me then. I mean, it's not that I don't like my cousins, it's just...they're not my brothers. And when the novelty wears thin, it just makes me resent them,...I guess."

[looksfine]

"You resent them? Why? Simply for bearing a face that is familiar to you, yet not?"

[michaeljangelo]

"Isn't that enough," he says with a slight, sheepish, shrug.

[looksfine]

There was no immediate response. Aya appeared to be thinking of something. Someone. Multiple someone's in fact. And how best to phrase the emotions that she felt regarding those who bore another's faces.

The fact that she continued to stand straight, rather than sit, was a testament to the artificial nature of her form. Concentration was not required to maintain impeccable posture.

"You would not be the first to carry such an opinion," her tone, oddly sad. She glanced down, then back up. "I had not been so aware that a facial visage could carry such importance to individuals when I created my physical form. Perhaps it is because of this that I cannot resent either Hal Jordan. Unlike me, they did not choose their appearance."

[michaeljangelo]

"When you created...you got to choose what you looked like?"
There's a tinge of awe to his tone.

[looksfine]

Yes and no.

"When I was created, I was not given a form. However, it was established that parameters for becoming a Green Lantern required a body that I could move around in and interact with others, and thus, I constructed one for myself. Characteristics were chosen based on the last known female imprint in my database, taken from the memory of a close ally."

Somebody he had lost.
