Characters: Cinna and YOU!
Date: 1-10 through whenever
Location: Alcuin's clothing threads
Situation: Open catch-all for anyone who wanted to comission clothing from Cinna. Prediscussed comissions and new comissions welcome; let me know if you want a specific starter and I'll toss one up!
Warnings/Rating: None so far!
During business hours, Cinna likes to keep the shop open, bright. Having the windows open doesn't bother him, although the walk to work everymorning is still a challenge. But once he's inside, he doesn't have a problem pulling open the curtains and letting the room fill with natural light. It looks best on the fabric, after all.
He keeps his workspace tidy. It's hard to make a room look inviting, when it's filled with work tables and dress forms and bolts of fabric, but he does his best. It will never look like a place for anything other than work, for dressmaking, but at least it's neat and airy. Pleasant. He likes it.

"Because they're too nice." It's a weak protest and he knows it but he needs something. "What if I spill coffee all over them?"
no subject
"Everything I made for you is washable."
You aren't getting out of this, Scott, no matter how hard you try. "I figured you were more of a hands-on worker, anyway."
no subject
He twists, trying to see what Cinna's doing back there with all the rearranging and the readjusting. They definitely don't do this at Shopko.
"But you probably know what it's like to work hands-on. Can you even run your business without getting hands-on?"
no subject
"No," he admits with a small smile. "It would be difficult, at any rate. Especially to manage hair and makeup and such."
See, Scott? It could be so much worse. You're just getting a new suit.
"I have what I need. This should be ready for you in a few days; I can drop it off."
Because he has a feeling that if Scott needs to come back to pick it up, he'll never be seen again.

It's not stereotypically a masculine role as far as Scott's concerned, but that just garners Cinna more respect and not less. Here's a man who puts his heart and soul into his work and doesn't give a damn what the world thinks, or at least that's how Scott imagines him.
And he still doesn't need a new suit, thanks. On the bright side...
"Does that mean I can take all this off now?"
So what if it's a small bright side? He'll take what he can get.

Nothing like that, but Cinna would rather not explain the games. To Scott, or anyone -- it's not his fault, but it would certainly change any relationship. The only person he'd told about them was Dr. Lecter, in therapy, and that had turned out... they all knew how that had turned out.
He's not the hero Scott believes, though. The gender expectations of Cinna's world were entirely different.
"You can change." He smiles again. "But the idea is for you to be comfortable, you know."
no subject
Being comfortable physically and being comfortable mentally are two entirely different things. But now that he's gotten permission, he ambles his way back to the little alcove to change, reappearing a few minutes later in his usual (unfashionable) outfit and looking a lot more relieved.
He hands Cinna's designs back to the man.
"Thanks, though. These are pretty nice, and I promise I'm more grateful than I sound. And act."
no subject
"You know, they don't have to be clothes for finding a date. You're entitled to have nice things for yourself, too."
Probably not what Tony has in mind, but Cinna doesn't see any reason why Scott should be tormented further. He folds them up. "You wanted Cassie to have a nice wardrobe, didn't you?"
no subject
"Yeah. Girls like nice things, right? Especially nice clothes."
Even with his last statement, there's a decided air of hesitancy in his voice.
no subject
"It's okay to look after yourself. She'd want you to."
no subject
Maybe Cinna's got a point he should try following.
Sighing, he gives the man a tired smile. "I'll try. Anyway, I should probably pay you for her stuff. How much do I owe you and are my arms going to hurt from carrying things back home?"
no subject
He names a price -- slightly lower than what he quoted Scott before. What? He used less fabric, obviously.
no subject
So he grabs his wallet, pulls out the quoted sum. Cinna will find a tidy pile in his hands a few seconds later.
"Thanks for this." Really. He's grateful. "If you ever need any techy done, let me know and I'd be happy to whip something up for you."
no subject
His job, after all. He tucks the money away, not counting it. That would be rude, and he trusts Scott won't try to cheat him.
"I don't imagine I'll need anything, but I will let you know."
no subject
Seems like business is all taken care of now. Scott heads over to where Cassie's stuff is sitting, gathers it all up. It's not as heavy as he thought it'd be, which is good; the girl needs new clothes, but not that many.
"I guess I'll see you around then."
no subject
Cinna's not compensating for anything with this particular assignment.
"See you soon," he corrects, still smiling. Because he will be there to drop off your suit.
