SIEGE TO THE PALACE
Characters: Everyone involved in the player missions
Date: 18th May
Location: The Palace
Situation: It's been too long since Malicant took over the palace, and it's time the foreigners did whatever they could to take it back. They might find out more than they had expected to find in the process.
Warnings/Rating: Fighting and shit? Please poke me if this needs to be changed.
Maybe you heard Superman suggesting they met up on the radio, trying to get as many people possible together for an attack that might prove unsuccessful, but would at least distract Malicant enough to get some information. Maybe you agreed to meet up and were talked into an open attack. Maybe you were talked into it by someone, dragged into a fight you wouldn't normally be part of otherwise Maybe your friends and you decided to take matters into your own hands, get together to try to attack the palace yourself and get something out of it.
Whichever the reason, there is no going back now. There's a yell, and suddenly... the attack begins.
[OOC: An open thread for the initial attack and threads for each mission will be added to this log. The idea is for a big battle to start with, and the teams to be divided naturally. Like I said, everyone gets a chance to fight! I added a questions thread just in case, if you aren't sure about something one of us will do our best to answer.]

[ He gave a thoughtful pause, then... ]
Can one of you lure a guard right to the edge of the barrier? I might be able to put one of you inside.

[to Bakura, now that the first is handled:] For most of the people here, breaking it down is the method for that goal. [But she's thoughtful, and more than a bit intrigued.] How many times would you be able to repeat that trick, if it worked? Unless you happen to know of a way for someone inside to deactivate it.

Right... Lucky for me I'm pretty durable on my own, so this should [hopefully] be fine.
[That said, he had to admit he was glad for Raine's voice in all this. Bakura was already annoying the EVO, but at least Raine could come up with calm, logical counters to his remarks.]
[Upon hearing Raine's question, Rex waited for Bakura to respond before saying anything further, himself.]

If I'd wanted the method that "most people here" were using, I'd have stuck with them. You two at least seem vaguely evolved past "bash things senselessly".
As for how many... not enough as it would take to get everyone inside. But walls are never built as strong from the inside as to the outside... one or both of you inside might break through.
no subject
Possible. [She tips her head toward Rex.] I suggest you first, unless you have an objection. I'm less useful on my own, at any rate.
[She kind of misses working with people who know and trust each other's capabilities.]
no subject
Thanks. ...I think.
[Then, to Raine:]
No objections, here, and I've got an assortment of blades, projectiles and blunt objects I can use to test the barrier from the other side.
[That said, Rex cracked his knuckles and began to head closer to the barrier with an intent to get the attention of a guard.]

"Exchange of the Spirit!"
[ There was an immediate drain on his energy -- it cost 1000 lifepoints to activate and in keeping with the Shadow Magic he used, that meant he felt it directly rather than on a number counter. He felt out of practice when the loss hit him with enough force to cause him to lose his breath for a moment, partly flinching from the feeling.
But it was enough to create a shimmer of air around both Rex and the guard and then, in the blink of an eye, swap their places so that Rex appeared inside the barrier and the kedan was suddenly outside of it, standing near the other two. ]

Impressive. [A beat, wondering if she actually has to add this, before she remembers she really does know people that stubborn.] Call out if you need healing, either of you.
[It's all Rex's show for now.]

[Rex builds out, his lower arms transforming into a pair of large gunmetal gray axes with edges amped up by glowing blue energy. Raising both weapons, he then brings them slashing down against the inside of the barrier at an angle, hoping for a positive result of some kind. If there's little to no backlash and actual damage is done, that kind of attack is one Rex can repeat as necessary with a good deal of determination. He's fairly strong as is, but with his machines in use, Rex's EVO strength really shows.]
no subject
No need; some effects merely incur a cost to summon them.
[ He turned then to Rex inside the barrier, who was forming a truly impressive set of weaponry to bring to bear against the shield from the opposite side. It seemed all three of them had formidable tricks up their sleeves. Bakura didn't have time to watch it properly however as his attention was brought back to a trio of guards running at them, spears extended. He swept a hand in their direction, a new Trap ready for the attack. ]
"Lumenize!"
[ The guards collapses mid-rush, unmoving and then Bakura concentrated, activating the second part of the trap; designating Raine as LIGHT, the shadow magic accepted the premise of the card's rule and the mage would feel her own power spike with the infusion of three life energies. ]

Magic bounces back doubled. [She cunningly discovered this a few days ago by dint of, ah, practical experimentation. Throwing this increased power at the barrier would not be enjoyable.] At least I should be able to deter the rest of the guards.
[She moves to close the distance between the group, just in case, and then starts casting. The next guard that tries to attack will be blown back by a burst of light most closely resembling a tiny sun in brightness.]
no subject
[Exchanging the Bad Axes for a pair of glowing, wrecking ball-like weapons, Rex backs up before whirling them into motion at his sides. Using the damage already done to the barrier by the blades as his target spot, he then slings the left weapon out, letting it crash into the mark. The right follows a moment later, busting through and leaving a hole large enough for an average-sized person to pass through.]
Alright, door made! Let's go!
no subject
[ The incoming guards sufficiently handled between he and Raine, Bakura turns with a satisfied look toward the hole that Rex has created, letting her go through first in case there are any other pursuers. The energy boost he had bestowed on her would persist for a while longer, gradually fading out since the Spell had no distinct Turn limit, only that of an End Phase. ]
Much as the entrance would be grand, let's find a way in that doesn't involve the main doors.
no subject
Perhaps around the side? Making our own entrance would be counterproductive, I think. [Drawing attention is definitely not something they should be doing now they're in. She casts a quick glance back at the other foreigners outside the barrier, just to see that nothing's gone horribly wrong yet, then starts moving. She has no idea where she's going, but staying still would be worse.]
