You are hereby thought to be the most senseless and fit man of the Watch
Characters: Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michaelangelo
Date: June 5 and after
Location: Leo and Don's suite in the Metal Sector
Situation: Testing out this lantern business
Warnings/Rating: None
After the initial visit, Raph and Mike had managed to stay in their own suite for an entire day before drifting back to Leo and Don's building. Don had certainly been glad to see them again - the place didn't feel right without them - but his enthusiasm for the situation waned sharply when it became clear they didn't plan to leave.
It's not their continued presence that Don has a problem with. It's the whole business with their souls being bound to lanterns, and the strongly-worded advice - delivered just days ago - that they not stay away from their lanterns for too long.
In calm but certain terms, Don suggests that Raph and Mike go reunite body and soul for a little while. No one listens to him. Mike seems determined to put a shell-groove in another couch, while Raph simply claims territory in his own inimitable style.
By the third morning, Raph and Mike are decidedly sluggish, and Don appeals to Leo to put an end to this reckless - if extremely intriguing - experiment.
"I think we should take them home," he says, despite Mike and Raph's increasingly-incoherent insistence that they want to stay. "Whatever they're trying to prove, it's not worth it."

But within minutes, he's passed out again, too dead tired to wallow in his own misery for long.
At least he has his brothers just outside the door.
He can't take the idea that it won't be that way for much longer.

He leans over to tap his cousin on the shoulder, thinking about where the flashlight is in his bag.
"Mike."

"...shhh. sleep now."
no subject
"Okay, Mike. Let's not sleep in hallways. Who's in Leo's room?"

"Is the room empty?" Don prompts. It wouldn't be unusual for Leo to leave his door closed.
no subject
That's the same as being empty, right?

Don looks back and forth between the door and his cousin, and decides to deal with the less agreeable Turtle first. If he gets Raph moving, Mike will follow.
He knocks peremptorily on the door, then lets himself in. Even though Raph is sleeping, Don exercises caution: a Turtle unexpectedly awakened is a very dangerous creature.
The snoring is a sign that Raph is breathing - more or less - so Don starts with a visual once-over, not moving to disturb him yet.
no subject
Which doesn't seem to help his snoring much. He's about as loud in sleep as he is awake, another one roaring out of him as he sucks in the next breath.
It really kind of does sound like a chainsaw.

"How'd it go?" he asks tiredly.
no subject
"Raph still has hideous sleep apnea, but otherwise seems fine, and Mike is deflecting but also looks okay."
no subject
"He's still awake?"

He's been replaying his last words to them in his head all this time. He's chasing them out. Forcing them away. Why does he have to be the one to force them away? Can't they see what's happening?
"Keep an eye on them. We might not get to wait until nightfall. If they get any worse... we won't have a choice."
Leo's fist clenches on the windowsill. He doesn't like it, but this is how it has to be.

He's still on alert, though. Any medically-relevant change won't escape his subconscious notice.

He makes his way towards his room, pausing to blink at the somewhat undefined lump lying next to his door in the dark hallway. Closer inspection of the lump reveals it to be Michaelangelo. Leo sighs, crouches down, sets his fingers softly over Mike's pulse. Still strong, but his cousin doesn't even stir. His insides clenching in worry, Leo pulls Mike's hand off of the floor to rest it across his plastron, then opens his door and looks inside.
Both of his brothers are dozing - well, one of them is dozing. The other is doing his best impression of a truck motor with a wrench caught inside. After casting a long glance at Raph, Leo quietly slides to Don's side and places a hand on his shoulder.
"Come on, Donnie; help me move Mike inside. I have some sleeping mats we can lay out."
no subject
"No more training, Leo..."

"Do you want to go?"
no subject
"Not yet. Give me a hand with Mike. I want him in here, where we can keep an eye on both of them."
no subject
"Where do you want to put him?"
