TEL VISHAN BEACH PARTY

Situation: Baby Turtle Beach Party!

At the edge of Asti's shell there are coastlines of natural deposits that make up the closest thing to a 'beach' that they'll ever find in Keeliai. It's here that the official Tel Vishan Beach Party is set to take place. All turtle 'parents' will have gotten a message from their respective hatchlings about said party (perhaps a nice change from the whining and the temper tantrums).

Temporary shaded areas built with poles and sheets for weary parents or hatchlings who do decide to come, and some simple snacks and refreshments have been set up as well. There's a fishing net set up to act as a volleyball net for the day, and a ball waiting in the sand for some players.

The rest is up to those who come.

Midii & Riva

[unetrustworthy]

[Midii wasn't really one for volleyball. She knew how to swim, but had little interest in doing so recreationally. The sun didn't bother her much, even though she was fair, but she still preferred to remain beneath the shade. It was cooler there. Riva preferred cooler, so that's where she remained. Close enough to a shallow area of water where the not-so-baby Turtle could splash around, but far enough away that it wouildn't get the book in her hand too wet.]

[Every so often, Riva would call to her telepathically. Wanting her to watch the newest trick she was learning. Normally, Midii would have only been half-interested at best...but, even when one didn't take into account their connection, she had to admit there was something endearing about a Turtle who loved to Learn.]

[Which may or may not have been partially her influence.]

I see, Riva.

You're getting better.

[sophos]

[They're not alone for long...! Splashing his way over is Captain Bobby Tennyson, chattering away excitedly to Annabeth trailing behind him. She's fast, but the turtle's in water and probably faster, so Bobby's already saying his hellos to Riva and watching the other turtle do her tricks with keen interest by the time Annabeth skids over.]

[She's grinning, shaking her head at them when she spots Midii over in the shade. Waiting for her to look up from the book, Annabeth lifts an arm to wave. She's back to sporting her summer tan, and all her scars are a bit more visible in the tankini swimsuit she's wearing. She doesn't quite speak up though - if Midii doesn't want the company, she won't interrupt.]

[Bobby on the other hand doesn't seem to care about much beyond being impressed by Riva's trick.]

[It was true that Midii wasn't the most social of children around...but, for a familiar face, she was more than happy to spare a smile and greeting.]

Hello, Annabeth.

[sophos]

[Annabeth opens her mouth to respond, then pauses, as if she's listening to something as she walks a bit closer so their conversation doesn't have to be loud.] Hey, Midii. Captain Bobby says hi too.

[Curiosity gets the better of her, as it so often does, and her gaze flickers down to the book in the girl's hand.] What're you reading?

[unetrustworthy]

[She glanced outwards towards the two turtles. Even if neither of them would be able to hear her, she waved anyway.]

Hello, Captain Bobby.

[Her attention then returned to the book in hand, which--after only a pause to better maintain her balance in her seat--she lifted up so that Annabeth could see.]

It's a story I found. Local fairy tales, mostly. Some of them, about Turtles. Riva loves them.

[She glances at the title, though her gaze stays on it a little longer than the average 'glance.'] That sounds... really interesting, actually. And I'll bet she does. Are you enjoying it too?

[unetrustworthy]

[Two things that extra long 'glance' would reveal: the first being a rather adorable drawing of a turtle on the cover that looked as if it had been done by a child. And the second, of course...that the title was written in the local language. Kedanese.]

Somebody suggested to me that there could be some truth to the fairy tales of this world.

I'm trying to decide for myself if that's true.

[sophos]

[She can recognize Kedanese... she just hasn't been able to read more than the basics in all her time here. The art is cute at least.]

[She grins a little though.] I've found a lot of stories and myths have some elements based in truth to them. What do you think so far?

[unetrustworthy]

You're not the first person who's told me that.

[It was actually the main reason why she was looking through them now. Before, she had merely been seeking a way to pass the time. Now, she was seeking answers.]

I never realized the Turtles were so important to this world.

[sophos]

[She can't help the flicker of a smile over the first remark.]

I wonder a lot what it was like when Asti's kin were all still alive. When they were linked. I think I always had a feeling towards their importance, but seeing it unfold is greater than assumptions.

[unetrustworthy]

It's easier to believe when you see it for yourself.

[She nodded, clearly agreeing with the sentiment.]

...Now we know why we were asked to take such good care and protect them when they were still eggs.

[sophos]

Agreed. [Definitely agreed. Annabeth lives in a world of gods and monsters, but she still runs on logic. Seeing is usually believing.]

Have you known Riva since she was an egg?

[unetrustworthy]

[She nodded.]

All three of us have. Septimus, Rapunzel, and me.

We were her first and only guardians, as far as I know.
