TEL VISHAN BEACH PARTY

Situation: Baby Turtle Beach Party!

At the edge of Asti's shell there are coastlines of natural deposits that make up the closest thing to a 'beach' that they'll ever find in Keeliai. It's here that the official Tel Vishan Beach Party is set to take place. All turtle 'parents' will have gotten a message from their respective hatchlings about said party (perhaps a nice change from the whining and the temper tantrums).

Temporary shaded areas built with poles and sheets for weary parents or hatchlings who do decide to come, and some simple snacks and refreshments have been set up as well. There's a fishing net set up to act as a volleyball net for the day, and a ball waiting in the sand for some players.

The rest is up to those who come.

Richie. Good to meet you, too. And, uh, yeah. That Stark. Well-- same Tony Stark, different version. [He's gotten very used to explaining this to people.]

From what I've heard, I'm the third one to show up here. It was one of the other Tonys who got Stark Industries started up. So I've got a lab there, but I don't have to do any of the boring administrative work, and I still get my name on the building. [He grins again.] It's a pretty sweet deal.

[gearshifting]

[He takes that in for a moment because yeah that sounds weirds and all kinds of freaky, but Richie has seen some strange things already around here.]

Okay, sure. The whole body-double thing is probably confusing enough. Alternate Universes, man, they sure don't know how to keep it simple. But hey, if you get out of the paperwork, maybe I should be jealous.

[He smiles and lightly bounces the volleyball he picked up out of the sand.] So you here with an adoptee or you just scoping for the cute girls in bikinis?

[Oh, trust him, Richie, it is definitely all kinds of weird and freaky.

Tony chuckles.] Hey, anything that gets me more time in the lab. Especially since I'm having to get everything started from scratch, [he says, with an expression of exaggerated dismay. Okay, it's not that bad-- For an impromptu facility cobbled together from scraps and weird alien tech, Stark Industries is stocked with plenty of goodies. It's just not his stuff, set up the way he likes it.]

Nah, I'm just here for the free food, [he quips.] No turtle sidekick. I'm not really a fan of sharing headspace anyway, so... [He shrugs, a "no offense to you" gesture, but he looks slightly uncomfortable, like he's worried he's worried that came out a little rude.]

[gearshifting]

Ya I feel ya there. It's like having to restock everything you've ever owned and half of it isn't in production. [Or you had built by hand and now have to recreate it somehow.]

But nah, dude, it's cool. It wasn't that easy for me at first either. She's a chatty one.

[Which Marcelon is so rolling her eyes at somehow. He can tell. Talking it a good way to learn. You said I could ask you questions anytime I wanted!]

Hey, I didn't say you being chatty was a bad thing!

Tell me about it, [Tony commiserates.] Though my dad would probably say it's just an opportunity to get creative, [he says with a laugh.] If I go home and tell him I was able to build a miniature particle accelerator out of random scrap from a giant turtle, it'll blow his mind.

[He looks curiously at the volleyball-playing baby turtle.] So... What does a chatty turtle chat about?

[gearshifting]

You do what you can, but not even a cellphone around here? It's wrong in so many ways. [Really he's had to rebuild so many things around here. The lack of satellites to hack and towers to piggyback off of makes it kind of hard.]

She talks about everything. They're still pretty young. Only a year old. So she has a lot of questions, likes trying to figure things out. Isn't that right, girl?

[A wave of happiness washes over him and it can be a little overwhelming, but in a good way. I've learned a lot since I was born!]

If you want, she could tell you herself? She's behaving herself for once so she doesn't spook ya.

I know. [Finally, someone who understands!] I even got brought in with my phone, and now it's just a glorified mp3 player. And these consoles are a nightmare to interface with.

[Tony smiles cautiously at the turtle, slightly disconcerted by the offer. Psychic communication. Definitely not his favorite thing. But what harm could a baby turtle do to him?] I'm... [he laughs weakly.] Well, okay. Sure.

[There seems to be a lot of psychic-ness to go around, here. Better start getting used to it.]

[gearshifting]

Geez, man, I wouldn't call my desktop back home a supercomputer or anything [that's the one he keeps hidden in the gas station], but it's like being stuck with message boards and email around here. It's soul-crushing sometimes how completely unplugged we are.

[And at his agreement, Marcleon is already poking her head under the volleyball next so she can be closer to him. She reaches out to him, ready to introduce herself instead of Richie doing it for her.]

Hello! I'm Marcelon! It's good to meet you.

My computer back home is a supercomputer, and man do I miss it. I haven't had to live this low-tech since my best friend's dad tried to take us on a "cell phone free" camping trip. [Tony shakes his head.] It was awful, [he says gravely.

Tony stares at the very large and excited turtle poking her nose under the volleyball net. He stiffens a little when she "speaks," but manages a polite smile.] Hi Marcelon. It's, uh, nice to meet you too.
