TEL VISHAN BEACH PARTY

Situation: Baby Turtle Beach Party!

At the edge of Asti's shell there are coastlines of natural deposits that make up the closest thing to a 'beach' that they'll ever find in Keeliai. It's here that the official Tel Vishan Beach Party is set to take place. All turtle 'parents' will have gotten a message from their respective hatchlings about said party (perhaps a nice change from the whining and the temper tantrums).

Temporary shaded areas built with poles and sheets for weary parents or hatchlings who do decide to come, and some simple snacks and refreshments have been set up as well. There's a fishing net set up to act as a volleyball net for the day, and a ball waiting in the sand for some players.

The rest is up to those who come.

The moment her boots are off, Nilin gets to her feet and dusts herself off. She scrunches her toes in the said and shifts a little to bury her feet. As she does, Nilin shrugs off her jacket and drops it near her boots, then leans to roll the bottoms of her jeans up a little.

"It's our day off, Hawke." Nilin says with a smile. Even if it's just for an hour or so, it's about time they relax a little.

If nothing else convinces him to join her, her smile most definitely does. Hawke can't help but brighten when she smiles like that. Annoying as he can be at times, the man enjoys seeing those he's close to happy.

"Don't have to tell me twice." Though he's in no ways dressed for the beach Hawke follows her lead again. Any accessories with him are dropped near their boots and he rolls his pants up as far as they'll go. After a moment of thought, Hawke decides to toss the shirt too.

She doesn't wait for him, but Nilin keeps in range. Heading for the water, Nilin walks into it until the waves that crash in reach her knees at their highest. There's something relaxing about just being in the water like that.

Nilin chuckles to herself to glances back to Hawke only to pause. It's not the first time she's seen him without his shirt, but it's the first time he's been in good health and willingly without it. "Are you going to swim?"

Once he's done Hawke chases after her. When he hits the water he's a little surprised at how warm it is. Of course he's never really been in more tropical areas until now. Hawke's far more used to the cold than weather like this.

He's more than comfortable with her seeing him without his shirt, and not just because she's already seen him without it. To be honest, he feels a bit smug when he notices her pause as she looks at him. "As long as you're around to make sure I don't get dragged out to sea."

That gets a laugh. "What makes you think I'm a good enough swimmer to save you if that happens?"

It doesn't really matter if she's good or not though. If one of the other is in trouble, whoever is left will be doing whatever it takes to save them. She kicks her foot at him, sending a small splash of water his way. "Just don't go too far out."

"Oh I'm sure you'll think of something." Hawke knows she wouldn't hesitate for a moment if he were actually in any danger, and the same goes for him.

He raises his arms a moment too late to protect himself from the water. The water splashes against him and he gives her a mock scowl. In return he splashes water back at her before trudging through the water in an attempt to flee.

"True. I could always place a logic bomb underneath you and blast you back to shore," Nilin answers, a hand at her chin as she feigns deep thought.

Anything else she'd been about to say was cut off by the water being splashed back her way. Nilin takes a step back but the water is deep enough to slow her down. The bulk of the water hits her in full. "Hey, I'm not the one planning to swim!"

Hawke laughs and stops a safe distance away from retaliation. Even from there the smile on his face is plane to see. "You looked hot. I only wanted to help."

Playing with her is more than having a swim right now anyway.

"Oh really," Nilin says, chuckling to herself and starting towards him. She's already wet enough for it not to matter if she goes in a bit deeper.

The second she's in range, Nilin ducks down to scoop up as much water as she can with both hands and send a small wave his way.

Even as she draws closer Hawke chuckles, not doing much in the way of fleeing. As she flings the water he lifts his arms to guard himself again. Then he barks out a laugh.

"So that's how you want you play is it?" Nevermind that Hawke sort of started it. Hawke runs towards her as quickly as he can through the water, a mischievous look on his face.

She folds her arms and tries to look bold. "Maybe it is."

But then he's charging at her and with the difference in the length of their legs combined with the waves pushing in around them from the sea, Nilin doesn't stand much chance in escaping. That doesn't stop her from trying though.

"Hawke, no," Nilin warns, any attempt at seriousness destroyed by the grin on her face.

Hawke ignores her warning completely. As he nears her his grin grows wider, and with a sudden surge he wraps his arms around her waist. He lets out a shout of triumph before he drags them both down into the shallow water.

When he surfaces Hawke laughs wildly. His wet hair is plastered to face and his beard along with everything else is soaking wet. It takes a moment for his laughter to die down and when it does he beams at Nilin. "Well, I think we can call that even."

"Shit!"

Suddenly her feet are off the ground and the pair of them are falling. Nilin takes a breath and shuts her eyes tight when they hit the water and she plunges underneath it. When they surface, Nilin pushes her hair out of her face and shoots Hawke a look. Menacing as she's trying to be, there's no hiding her amusement.

"You call that even, do you? I think overkill is a little more accurate," she says, only to turn her face towards the shore as a small wave washes over them. Once it's passed, Nilin puts a hand in his hair and ruffles it up before making an attempt at standing up again.

The moment she gives him a look Hawke begins laughing all over again. At the moment, the man looks similar to a wet, shaggy dog that's very pleased with itself. It doesn't help that Hawke finds her absolutely adorable right now.

As she stands Hawke grabs her wrist and stand with her. Finally getting himself under control again, he flashes her a handsome smile. "Well now that you're soaked there's no reason for you not to go swimming is there?"

"Does the fact that I'm not dressed for a swim count for nothing?" Nilin argues, smiling back and tilting her chin up towards him.

She puts a hand on his chest and gives him a push back away from her, half hoping that he'll fall back into the water with the shove. "Jeans aren't exactly the best for swimming, Hawke."

Hawke's eyebros raise slightly. "You actually dress for swimming? Here I just went about it in the nude." Someone has never heard of bathing suits. It's probably for the best he rarely uses the pool they have back home then.

Before he says anything else he's shoved back. A wave hits his leg and he pitches back into the water.

Nilin stares, dumbfounded at what he's just said. "What, did you think I was going to just strip off in front of you right here and take a dip?"

She starts to laugh, only to see him fall. Nilin makes a grab for him but by that point she's laughing harder than she has in years.

Hawke emerges from the water again, once more looking that a wet dog. Any attempt to frown at her is completely undone by her laughter. It's infectious and soon Hawke finds himself laughing just as hard as she is. This might be his first beach party but so far it's his favorite too.

"Well then, maybe I'll do it on my own." He mostly says it just to get a reaction out of her. There are some people on this beach he'd rather not see him bare ass'd.

She shakes her head and glances off towards the beach, feigning calm at the whole idea. "By all means, go for it."

With a smirk, Nilin looks back to Hawke. "Though I hear there's crabs about. Big ones. You might want to be careful."

Hawke looks down at his pants and then out to sea. When he turns back to her he frowns at her as if he were a child. "You're no fun you know that?" The amused glimmer in his eyes though say otherwise.

With that, he trudges through the water with her back to the beach.

"No, I'm not," she replies with a smirk. Nilin folds her arms and tries to look stern. "In fact I'm a very, very serious person Hawke. Always. All the time."

God it's hard not to be in good spirits around him though, even when she's just pretending. "I mean it."

"Well then," Hawke begins as he quite suddenly puts his arm around her shoulders and grins at her with something akin to affection. "It's a good thing you've got me around to help lighten you up."

Right now Hawke doesn't care if anyone sees them like this. Hawke feels close to Nilin, closer to anyone he's known in years including his companions from Kirkwall, which is saying something.

It's rare for Nilin to let someone touch her, let alone embrace her like he is. They've become close this past few months. Nilin doesn't want to think about what might happen when they go back to their homes. It's too sad a thought. Friends are rare in her life and Hawke is something special.

Thus she lets him keep his arm there for a few seconds before nudging him playfully in the ribs with her elbow. "I'm not sure you draping yourself all over me is lightening the load even a little, Hawke."

Thoughts like that are ones he's not about to entertain right now on this beach. Hawke much rather spend his time with Nilin doing and thinking happier things. Friends might not be as rare for him as they are for her, but he rarely lets anyone get this close to him.

Hawke grunts softly and his arm slips away from her. "That's no fun. I was just getting comfortable too." Part of him already misses holding her that close and for once, he doesn't immediately shove that feeling to a place where it can be safely ignored.

"I just told you what a serious person I am, Hawke. There's no time for fun in my busy, busy schedule."

And to prove just how un-fun she is, Nilin kicks water his way.
