TEL VISHAN BEACH PARTY

Situation: Baby Turtle Beach Party!

At the edge of Asti's shell there are coastlines of natural deposits that make up the closest thing to a 'beach' that they'll ever find in Keeliai. It's here that the official Tel Vishan Beach Party is set to take place. All turtle 'parents' will have gotten a message from their respective hatchlings about said party (perhaps a nice change from the whining and the temper tantrums).

Temporary shaded areas built with poles and sheets for weary parents or hatchlings who do decide to come, and some simple snacks and refreshments have been set up as well. There's a fishing net set up to act as a volleyball net for the day, and a ball waiting in the sand for some players.

The rest is up to those who come.

No, I didn't either, [he says ruefully.] I didn't think they'd be the size of minivans so soon.

[He looks down at the sand for a moment, hesitating. No time like the present to bring it up.] I...I have something important to tell you. About the rings.

[She raises an eyebrow at the unfamiliar turn of phrase used to describe the turtles' newest growth, but pushes it away when he brings up the rings.]

And that is?

[The rings are still a matter of importance, ones she has far from forgotten.]

[Gene heaves a sigh.] At landfall...a few days after we helped with the Legacy...I found it. I found the tenth ring. And it's active.

It's safe. Stark has it. I...left it. With him. [He glances back in Tony's direction.]

[loquaciouslyfeline]

[Her expression turns stern, but not unkind.] That is likely for the best. You have been managing yourself well, though.

What powers are present in the last ring?

[wrathfulkhan]

[Gene inhales sharply through his teeth.] On its own, I don't know. I...didn't have much of a chance to use it, before... [Before he accidentally called down a horde of genocidal lizard aliens. It could happen to anyone!] But with all the others... [He swallows hard. Even talking about it is hard; he still feels the ache for it, still feels the itch when he knows that Stark has it.] It's power. Unlimited power. If I had it, I could - maybe - stop our enemy.

But I'm worried that if I did, I might join it, or become worse than it ever was. I can't have it. I'm not ready for it. That's why I left it with Stark. He knows what I can become if I'm not careful.

[loquaciouslyfeline]

[Amelia notes his words trailing off, but says nothing, continuing to listen instead.

When he's finished, she nods her approval.]

A wise decision. The beast causes enough trouble as it is. We would not want to give it more power. And you trust Mr. Stark to not abuse the ring's power?

[wrathfulkhan]

[Gene nods.] He couldn't even if he tried. I'm the only one who has that ability. Nobody else can wield the rings to their full potential. It's in my... [PLEASE SAY GENES.] ...blood.

[loquaciouslyfeline]

I'm pleased to see you took all this into consideration, given our previous discussions. [She'd still be more comfortable with him having fewer of the rings, but that feeling has faded greatly with the lack of incidents of the last few months.]

And I must thank you for your assistance with the Legacy. It would have been much harder getting her back to Keeliai with her boards so waterlogged.

[wrathfulkhan]

Of course, [he says humbly - a weird tone from him, but one he's trying to cultivate.] I'm...happy to have been able to help.

[He's silent for a moment. Then:] I almost didn't give it up, [he says, his voice quiet.] But I didn't want to disappoint you and Skul. [He wants to make them proud. He wants someone, anyone, to be proud of him, to tell him he has merit. Maybe this is a stepping stone to being able to do that.]

[Amelia nods her approval.]

You made the right decision, given the circumstances.

[Wow, and that's a surprising weight off his shoulders.]
