TEL VISHAN BEACH PARTY

Situation: Baby Turtle Beach Party!

At the edge of Asti's shell there are coastlines of natural deposits that make up the closest thing to a 'beach' that they'll ever find in Keeliai. It's here that the official Tel Vishan Beach Party is set to take place. All turtle 'parents' will have gotten a message from their respective hatchlings about said party (perhaps a nice change from the whining and the temper tantrums).

Temporary shaded areas built with poles and sheets for weary parents or hatchlings who do decide to come, and some simple snacks and refreshments have been set up as well. There's a fishing net set up to act as a volleyball net for the day, and a ball waiting in the sand for some players.

The rest is up to those who come.

We'll just have to make do, [Gene says, crafting a gatehouse out of wet sand. There's something kind of fun about this, and less awkward than he'd been expecting...probably because he can go work on the other side of the turtle if it gets too strange.]

[Tony starts collecting nearby twigs and leaves as he works, and sticking them into the turrets. He hands Gene a small handful of larger sticks and gestures at his gatehouse.] Here, add a portcullis.

[After that round of awkwardness, he's looking cheerful again. Nothing like structural engineering to raise the spirits!]

[Whoa what whoa?? Gene accepts the sticks, a little bemused by Tony's sudden high spirits, and returns to work on the gatehouse. (Happily, this is not a fulcrum situation. Mostly because of the magic language translatery. He is not totally aware that that is the English word for that because he did not play enough Zelda games as a child, but he knows what Tony's talking about.)

He gets to work sticking them into the sand and making it look nice. Or as nice as a handcrafted sandcastle made by amateurs and a giant turtle can look.

Funny, but...he realizes with a jolt that he's never done this before.

He's not sure how he feels about that.]

[With the outer fortifications now completed, Tony starts constructing the keep in the middle. Usually you do it the other way 'round, but oh well.

Despite the lack of proper sandcastle-building tools, he's managing to put together a pretty impressively-engineered edifice, with lots of arches and buttresses. Unlike Gene, Tony has obviously done this before.]

So, what should we call it? [he asks Kalliel, who is still "helping" with the outer walls.] Every sandcastle needs a name, you know.

[Ugh. Check your beach privilege, Stark!

Kalliel thinks about it for a minute.

Castle...Me! Castle Kalliel!]

[Tony laughs.] Okay, Castle Kalliel it is.

[He and draws a big "K" on the front wall of the tallest tower, and then, with a flourish, sticks a frond of dried seaweed in the top.]

There. Behold, the mighty fortress of Castle Kalliel!

[wrathfulkhan]

[Yaaaay! It's perfect!

The giant turtle pauses.

...how do I get out?

No way in! No way out! Gene pauses. Then:] Well, looks like you're stuck in there, Kalliel.

[Oh noooo!!]

You'll just have to wait until the tide comes in and sets you free. Oh... this isn't a stationary landmass, though, is it? I don't think there are tides.

[Tony shrugs, grinning.] Well, Kalliel, I guess you're stuck there forever. It was nice knowing you.

[wrathfulkhan]

[FREE HIM

Noooo! I don't wanna be stuck in the fort! Heeeelllppp!! He's not broadcasting to everyone on the beach, so he knows it's just a joke. Kalliel flops his flippers ineffectually.]

It's not so bad. You have...turrets.

[Tony sighs and shakes his head in mock regret.] We'll just have to make the best of it. Looks like the only thing we can do now is incorporate you into the fort.

[He steps inside the walls, and starts piling up sand against Kalliel's shell, making good on his threat.]

[wrathfulkhan]

[Noooooo! I'm doooooooomed! Dooooooomed, I tell ya! Kalliel is really hamming it up...but with Gene as a parent, can you really blame him? At least that's the worst habit he's picked up.

Gene laughs and joins Tony in caking sand on the turtle.]
