confronting Evandau
Characters: Evandau, Anton, Hawke, Septimus, whole bunch of others
Date: August 28th, 2014
Location: The Midnight Hotel, may move to outside one of its entrances in one of the five sectors
Situation: It’s time to confront Evandau.
Warnings/Rating: Probable violence, will update accordingly.
By the time Hawke calls Evandau out, the Hotel is as prepared as it’s possible to be. The radio set has been brought in so they can communicate with the teams outside using the portable WWII handset Akito jerry-rigged. Anton has warned the gang-kedan, particularly the Dust-user and distributers, most of whom are hiding upstairs. The commons aside from the lobby have their doors closed; judging by the rowdiness in the living-room still filtering through the door, ‘noise pollution’ is the going excuse. Anton wants his current patrons as protected as they can be, which is why he encouraged a couple of those present to guard the stairs up.
There are a fair few people in the lobby, which isn’t unexpected, but Anton has warned each and every one of them about the Hotel rules and the fact that, if any of them jumps the gun, he will be forced to defend Evandau. Nothing would ruin the plan more than Anton being obliged to stand up against those with whom he would rather be allies. He doesn’t know most of them, but it’s clear that they’re friends of others who are in on the plan; the only person who worries him is Wreath, sitting quietly in a corner behind the entrance.
Anton himself is behind the reception desk, going through his ledgers and waiting quietly for Evandau to arrive, and keeping Daisy the shotgun close at hand under the counter. Just in case.

He knows she's worried. If the positions were revered Hawke would feel the exact same way she does. Hell, even now he still worries about her. Knowing that she's here, that she'll be close by and watching his back puts him more at ease though. Of everyone in this room, Hawke trusts her most of all.
"Relax, we'll get through this."
no subject
Anything could happen. "I want to be sure that we've got ourselves covered."
no subject
Though most have seen him wearing a confident smile since he arrived in the building, that smile looks far more genuine when talking to Nilin. His hand squeezes her shoulder reassuringly before letting it fall to his side.
"Things haven't failed spectacularly so far. That's a good sign in my book."

Nilin isn't used to having other people in the danger zone with her. Back in Neo-Paris, her allies fell back and helped from a distance. In general she only had to worry about herself. The past few times there's been someone else along, it hasn't worked out all that well.
When he smiles at her though, Nilin shoots him a small smile in return. It's hard not to be reassured with him around. This won't be another case like Bad. She won't let it be.
"You won't see me, when he gets here. I'll be around though, so don't worry."

Despite the teasing it feels good to know that she'll be watching his back if the whole thing turns into some kind of fiasco. No one in this building holds his trust like her. Not only that, but he's seen her fight as well having fought beside her in more than one occasion. Between the two of them, Hawke feels certain that could tear the room apart.
There's one problem however, and he suspects she knows it as well as he does.
"If something happens, we need to make sure he strikes first." What Hawke doesn't say but both of them know, is in all likelihood Hawke will be struck first.
no subject
She knows he's right and Nilin doesn't like it one bit. "Are you sure there's no other way?"
If that first blow is a killing strike then they're in for some trouble.
no subject
"I'm already grasping at straws," He replies, giving her an apologetic look.
"At least you'll be here to be my knight in shining armor." Again he tries to bring some levity back into the situation.
no subject
She smirks with the words, but it's short lived. "At least we've got good company."
It's reassuring to have so many others there with him.
no subject
He looks around the hotel at the motley crew they've gathered with them and chuckles. "We definitely gathered some kind of company that's for sure." Hopefully they'll be enough.
After a short moment, his smirk turns playful. "After this is done you and I really ought to celebrate getting out of this alive." He may have just asked her on a date in his own way.
